The service is first-class, but the hotel is in a remote location, which is very inconvenient if you don't drive yourself. The hotel has a bar service, and many nearby guests come to eat and drink

I stayed in so many hotels in the UK this time, but this was the only one that ******. This is basically a family hotel run by Indians, not a chain hotel, and I was really fooled. We are a family of three with one child. They said the room was too small to accommodate us, so they charged us an extra two nights of 1,200 RMB. But then they said there were no rooms available and they only changed the room for the second night. Why did they charge us two extra nights? This problem does not exist when staying in other hotel chains. This kind of thing happens in small family hotels, and Ctrip should not list such hotels. Comparing the service and price, it is better to book a chain hotel if possible. The facilities are also very average, just a mountain hut, small and damp. As for the location, it is very close to Windermere Railway Station as the crow flies, but this is a deception. In fact, you can't get there. You need enough time to take the ferry, and then you have to transfer to the bus. Transportation is very inconvenient. We came out of the train station and took a taxi around the lake for 30 minutes, which cost 400 RMB.

Fantastic location. Clean, quiet rooms and accepts dogs which was nice. The couple who run this hotel were really friendly. Great home cooked food too but you need to book as the place was very popular in the evening. Hill Top is within walking distance.

Stayed here for one evening in December 2024 after a few big days hiking. I liked it very much. The staff were very good and attentive the room was very comfortable with a big bath in the en suite. I ate here both on the evening and in the morning both meals were good and very tasty. The view from the bedroom was excellent, waking up to see the bright sun light up the frost.

We stayed at the Cuckoo Brow Inn for one night on our way to Edinburgh and it was very good. The hotel is ran by a family that is very welcoming, kind and helpful. The room was very clean, cosy and quiet in the middle of the woods. We ate there for dinner and the food was quality and fresh.

Beautiful & peaceful setting during autumn. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Warm and cosy atmosphere with fire, bar and food. Relaxed atmosphere. Bedroom was very spacious and clean. They even provided a bottle of fizz as requested from my partner, and even a vase of roses and towl swans on the bed which was unexpected and beautiful. The staff went the extra mile. (As it was my birthday) The only thing we would have appreciated more is a smart tv in our room rather than just a free view tv. The food and bar was lovely too, good choice of food, maybe a few more dishes for vegetarians would have been good. A good selection of drinks, service again was amazing. Definitely recommended.

We were staying locally and after a long day out in Windermere we decided to have a leisurely short walk to Cuckoo Brown Inn. We arrived around 1730 and got a drink right away, we sat outside in the gorgeous sunshine until 6pm when the restaurant opened. At first, we was a little sceptical as it was very quiet but we was greeted warmly and seated to a table by the window - which had lovely views. I ordered the Mauritian Curry and my partner ordered the Ribeye Steak. Only a short wait (15 mins) and the food was delivered, and it was served hot and presented very nicely. When I tasted my meal, I was amazed by the taste. You think rice is just rice, but this was packed full of flavour, and combined with the tender chicken thighs cooked to perfection and the sauce, it was so delicious! I am a big foodie and I appreciate fresh and tasty food and this just hit the spot! My partners steak was cooked just to her liking, it had a wonderful chargrilled flavour and had the sweetest tomatoes, melting mushrooms and caramelised onions! Oh and the chips, good portion, fluffy, some crunchy and some soft, mm mmmm. It was so good, we went back the following evening and I ordered the curry for a second time whilst my partner ordered the prawn linguine. She really enjoyed the taste, the freshness of the pasta and seafood. What can I say - if you are looking for amazing tasting food, lovely hosts and great views, this is the place to be! I would highly recommend Cuckoo Brow Inn to anyone and I know we will be back in the near future! Thank you!

We were staying for one night and booked dinner for 7pm with our daughters. We were very happy with the service and our room. Unfortunately dinner was incredibly disappointing. The food and service was very nice until after our starters, when a large party arrived with many dogs. It completely changed the lovely cozy atmosphere. We immediately asked to be moved to a different table. The waiter said there are no other tables available. But shortly after I asked to be moved, the table next to us also asked to be moved and were accommodated. We really wanted to stay for dessert, but were so unhappy with the situation we decided to leave early. This unfortunately spoilt our entire evening. We understand you accommodate dogs, but then you should also be willing to accommodate the wishes of your guests who are paying for good service. It is a shame that this was our experience.
