The service is first-class, but the hotel is in a remote location, which is very inconvenient if you don't drive yourself. The hotel has a bar service, and many nearby guests come to eat and drink

I stayed in so many hotels in the UK this time, but this was the only one that ******. This is basically a family hotel run by Indians, not a chain hotel, and I was really fooled. We are a family of three with one child. They said the room was too small to accommodate us, so they charged us an extra two nights of 1,200 RMB. But then they said there were no rooms available and they only changed the room for the second night. Why did they charge us two extra nights? This problem does not exist when staying in other hotel chains. This kind of thing happens in small family hotels, and Ctrip should not list such hotels. Comparing the service and price, it is better to book a chain hotel if possible. The facilities are also very average, just a mountain hut, small and damp. As for the location, it is very close to Windermere Railway Station as the crow flies, but this is a deception. In fact, you can't get there. You need enough time to take the ferry, and then you have to transfer to the bus. Transportation is very inconvenient. We came out of the train station and took a taxi around the lake for 30 minutes, which cost 400 RMB.

Fantastic location. Clean, quiet rooms and accepts dogs which was nice. The couple who run this hotel were really friendly. Great home cooked food too but you need to book as the place was very popular in the evening. Hill Top is within walking distance.

Great location, a very warm welcome and a good breakfast. Comfortable room and a very quiet nights sleep. Ideal for a walking break or just a bit of relaxation - an enjoyable experience overall and a credit to the hard working family running the place

My wife and I have just returned from a seven day stay at the Cuckoo Brow Inn. It was a very good experience, The Inn is staffed by a really nice family who made us welcome from the start. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were extremely attentive to our needs. I would definitely stay there again if in the vicinity and know that we would be most welcome.

Stayed here for one evening in December 2024 after a few big days hiking. I liked it very much. The staff were very good and attentive the room was very comfortable with a big bath in the en suite. I ate here both on the evening and in the morning both meals were good and very tasty. The view from the bedroom was excellent, waking up to see the bright sun light up the frost.

Called in for one drink after getting ferry from Bowness. One room was filled with customers and dogs, the dogs were climbing on the furniture and barking. When we asked if we could sit at one table away from the dogs we were told it was reserved for ‘locals’ the other room was reserved for dining… no customers were there. We had ordered our drinks otherwise we would have left. We sat outside in the cold wind. During the time we drank our drinks the ‘locals’ table remained vacant. This table was in-front of the fire and obviously would have been a good seat. We spend a lot of time in this area but I doubt we will return.

7 friends thought we would treat ourselves to an evening meal. The menu offered basic, though pricey pub food. It was very disappointing. Everything felt as though it had been made with packet food or pre bought frozen ie not made by a chef, with the exception of the chicken curry, which was tasty. Nut roast was like paxo stuffing, veggie sausages were dry and overcooked. Gravy was made from cheap dry powder. Steak pie was bought pastry and mediocre filling, frozen chips, frozen peas, reconstituted mashed potato. Battered fish was disappointing. The broccoli was the best part of the meal. We decided not to waste any more money on dessert.
