Very pleasantly surprised, in a hotel in an ancient castle, the layout of each room is a little different but they are all spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is clean, and the best thing is that there is an observation deck above where you can overlook the city, and there is a large garden below where you can drink coffee and enjoy the sunset

This is a real castle converted into a hotel. In the lobby, there is authentic medieval knight's armor. The rooms are located within the old castle itself, creating a very atmospheric and authentic experience. It truly feels like a medieval castle.

To be frank, this is a destination for the setting and the building, which is very much a great traditional parador site. But I have stayed in a dozen or so paradores of the two main types all over Spain in the course of my life and I have to say that the room itself left a lot to be desired. It failed to deliver any "wow" either inside my room or from the view. I have had better facilities and more space in a room at a Holiday Inn Express! So, as a place to stay for location and the history of the building, a definite 4. The room - which is, after all, the purpose of a hotel - give a 3 (it has, after all, a bed and a bathroom and a desk) but I take away a point for the disappointment and failure to meet expectations so it comes in at a 2. So overall, kind of average at a 3. And as I had pre-paid two nights and they are "sold out" (the booking site shows rooms available), I will spend more time out and about than in the room.

You can walk around the battlements of the castle for some great views. Ask for directions from reception. The town battlements also make a nice walk. The staff were great and very helpful. It is a very difficult place to find. The tiny archways and streets make it a bit of a challenge in a large car. We parked within the Parador and there was plenty of parking room during our stay. The building is very historical and had been tastefully decorated. Our room was clean and of a good size.

Our eleventh Parador over our years visiting Spain! We stayed in a suite, Room 101, and felt that the extra was worth it. 12 Euros to park inside the gate was reasonable. The walled city was fun to explore, and made a good spot for day trips to Salamanca, Eastern Portugal, and the nearby Francia mountains, including La Alberca. The room was modern and comfortable.

The parador is a medium-sized hotel. The rooms are a bit out-dated, but they are typical of what you find in paradores. It is more suitable for lovers of history, of unique experience, of beautiful stones rather than modern amenities.

Amazing tiny town on Portuguese border. Great views, hikes, relaxing. Breakfast is huge (almost too huge) and the town is charming.

We were on a tour of Western Spain and this place was just magical. If you have ever dreamed of staying in a medieval castle this is the place for you. Great central location, magical views from the tower and brilliant staff and service. We had a lovely quiet room and it was spotless. parking is really easy and not very busy - we used the green zone outside of the hotel and it was no problem. Some great restaurants for lunch nearby too. We honestly could not fault this place and would return in a heartbeat.
