4.6/5
Outstanding
We just stayed here one night because it was really close to the Cedar Rapids airport. The hotel was very clean. In fact when we walked in workers were cleaning around the front entrance and it really didn’t need to be cleaned. Our room was very nice very modern had everything we needed, we left early the next morning around 5 AM and they already had food out and coffee machine that is 24/7. It is minutes from the airport overall a great location. I would recommend this to other people to stay.
I initially wanted to give this hotel 3-stars, but that would not be fair. Let's start with the good. The lobby is what you would expect from the Tru brand. They all look the same. The room was clean with a nice bathroom, a big screen TV, and a very comfortable bed. The gym is open 24/7, which is nice, and the pool closes at 11 pm. The pool also had an outside sitting area that was rather nice. The lobby computer and printer were working and coffee was available (although not always fresh or hot). Now for the reason I initially though about 3-stars. The hotel either did not read or did not respect my room preference. My preference was not even mentioned when I arrived. The room was nice and big, but looked empty because it has bare-minimum furniture with only one small chair. To be fair, you can see what the rooms look like on the hotel website. What really got my attention is the weird choice of color for the hallways and rooms. They reminded me of a college dorm or a hospital ward. Definitely not what I would expect from a Hilton hotel. I think that with a new hallway carpet and paint and with a few pictures in the rooms or even a wallpaper, this hotel can be a 5-star hotel.
As a very frequent business traveler who stays in very comparable hotels all across the United States, I left this hotel with absolutely no complaints and all praises. Rooms were spacious and clean. Amenities were well thought out. Breakfast was one of the best in this class of hotel. Desk staff was pleasant. Even Housekeeping greeted us as we were leaving. Maybe think about cleaning the carpets in the stairwells but beyond that, keep up the good work.
It was almost midnight and we stopped here after a terrible experience at another hotel. The gentleman at reception was very helpful and said they had one double room by the pool. At this point many other hotels were fully booked so we decided to stay. He checked us in quickly, told us where to find breakfast and explained how to find the room as the property is quite large. The room was in another building located directly across from the pool and game room. When we arrived there were several families with children running around screaming. By this time it was after midnight and I was annoyed because the area had closed by this time but once I closed the door to the room it was quiet and there was only a minimum noise of people walking in the hallway. The room and bathroom were clean and updated. I would stay here again, just not directly across from the pool/game room if I had the choice.
Parking wasn't the greatest but the room was clean and staff friendly. Bed wasn't the greatest, little hard, but for budget range hotels it was normal. Breakfast was basic but at least included. Pool was broken so we could not use that. May be the only downside.
DDaniel SThis Motel 6 is a newer renovated Motel 6. First, loved that the doors to the rooms were interior not exterior. Makes you feel safer. The beds they have changed to are orthopedic memory mattress’s. No springs in them. It was not too hard nor too soft. I slept so well. My wife and children did as well. Every staff member we came across were always smiling and friendly. Very accommodating and helpful. They are per friendly but that is something Motel 6 is known for so one can’t complain about a dog that may bark or several for that matter if they hear another one because that’s a huge selling point for the Motel 6 brand. And face it our pets are no different than our kids. Walking distance to many stores, restaurants, bars etc. I was very shocked that we enjoyed ourselves, my family was very well taken care of, our room was clean and comfortable. I was shocked because I read some reviews and figured we would just stay the night and change our accommodations to a different hotel the next day but we stayed the whole week. I have come to realize in my 54 years of age and 29 of them being a Chiropractor that you can’t believe what you read. If you choose to stay at a budget friendly hotel then quit writing bad reviews that a Hilton couldn’t even accommodate to make people happy. Only thing I would Recommend is to change the carpet in the hallway to a more neutral color because the black shows everything but by no means did that affect my stay, my sleep or the cleanliness of our room.
SshebearI have stayed here off and on for about 4 years now and it's a quiet place for the most part. I know the owners and staff pretty good very nice people. Great staff always making you feel at home and at ur service at any given time. But you also have it own privacy as well. Perkins is across the st and if u mention ur staying at motel 6 you get a 10% discount off ur bill. And there's plenty of parking and ur within walking distance of gas stations and restaurants wether it be fast food or a family restaurant to a local bar establishment with food and entertainment. Great place to stay and convenient to the interstate and highway!
Thank you to the staff for all their hard work. And thanks to the owners for their hospitality.
