The Quality Inn Hyde Park is always my choice of hotel every year since I started volunteering for the Sinterklaas parade. The rooms are always clean, the staff is always friendly to me and the beds are amazing. I got one of the best night's sleep I had in weeks (lots of stress at work) and it was just nice to decompress and relax here. The breakfasts in the small dining room are simple and nice, They had run out of eggs and sausage that morning but I like their waffles and head to them first. The mix they use is excellent and I always have the perfect waffle. It is a nice way to start the day. I like to get the rooms with the view of the woods. It is nice to wake up looking at the sun rise and the field in the back. Overall the stay was wonderful and I will be back again next time I am in the area.

As a Hilton Diamond member, I stay exclusively at Hilton portfolio properties when I travel frequently by train. On a recent solo visit to Poughkeepsie in late July, mainly to visit the Walkway Over The Hudson, I was happy to hear that the Poughkeepsie Grand had supposedly converted to a Doubletree and thus would be very convenient for me needs. I found out upon arrival that the hotel slapped a temporary Doubletree banner across the top of the building, and that whatever interior and exterior construction needed for this conversion was very much still in progress. I did not find the lobby to be inviting, although the staff was to their credit very friendly and knowledgeable. The place appeared to be in a state of flux, with facilities closed to the public. Outside, there was construction equipment blocking the sidewalk adjacent to the building, with nothing stopping people from walking right into it. Had to walk in the street to get around it!! The room was OK, although an upgrade to Hilton standards would be welcomed. My view, which was to the east, looked down on a curbside and off-street bus transfer station. My room had ample space for my belongings, and the bathroom had enough counterspace to put my toiletries. Still, one could tell that the infrastructure was very old. Other than all that, I did get a decent night of sleep, and the location being walking distance from both the train and the Walkway was a plus.

The bathroom was quite small with no soaps for showering. Someone was smoking on balcony outside at night and the scent seeped right through the window of bathroom and made the whole room smell so bad.
We traveled to Poughkeepsie to see a show at the Rhinebeck Center for Performing Arts. After checking a number of hotels, I chose the Holiday Inn Express as the location was good, price was right, and reader ratings were fine. I'm glad we chose the Holiday Inn Express. The room was well-appointed, staff was friendly, and breakfast offerings were fresh and plentiful, although I would have liked some non-sweetened cold cereal offerings. The only downside was that housekeeping made up our bathroom on the second morning, but not the bedroom. We advised the front desk, which made amends. We recommend it.
