You know how an excellent staff can make even an overnight in a roadside motel a fine experience, while a bad staff can ruin a high end expensive hotel splurge? Well that's the story here. Our family booked 2 rooms here for several nights to attend an event at University of Maryland. It's very convenient to UofM as well as Washington DC. 1 mile to the Green line Metro station. I spoke to several people before booking and arrival in sales and front desk. All were helpful and kind. From sales to the pool attendant all were friendly and helpful. At check in, Ashley and Mike went above and beyond to get us settled into proper rooms. Mike switched one room with a funky door lock but kept us together, helped move furniture and brought us an extra chair. Angie helped me extend one room when we were too tired to go. Best front desk staff over many trips. We had breakfast as early as 6:45 and late as 8:45. Mr. Damian kept the food stocked, hot or cold as appropriate, tables bussed and clean. But more than that, one of us has a food allergy and Damian took it seriously, read ingredient labels to make sure there were appropriate choices and that we know about them. He is an exemplary employee and lovely guy. As I'm writing this, front desk called to ask if I left an item in the dining room. I did, but hadn't even discovered it yet. Mr. Damian ran it up to me. There are a few minor issues in the room, but the bed was great, furniture fine and TV, while basic, was huge with good picture and sound. Cable and Wifi worked fine. Pull out couch better for a kid than an adult. We actually liked the roomy layout of the larger suite more than the one bedroom. One minor complaint. We didn't use housekeeping during our stay other than getting supplies from friendly housekeepers, but the rooms were not as clean upon arrival as one could hope. I wound up using paper towels to clean the tile floors in kitchen and bath area. That said, we will definitely come back here when visiting DC and hope Marriott takes note of the outstanding staff at the Residence Inn Greenbelt. Btw, we really liked Greenbelt itself. Every single person we encountered in restaurants and stores was helpful and friendly. Made the week very pleasant.
Disappointed. Let me begin by saying there was nothing wrong with g with our room. It was spotless as was the facility. The general look was beautiful. The check in process was odd. I understand showing ID but between that and having to sign highlighted policy pages regarding quiet time etc I felt a bit strange as though I wasn’t trusted to be an upstanding guest. There was no bar lounge - not a huge deal but just was looking forward to that. Checking the website I do see that it was checked as available I’m a review and not the hotel sight. There was a whole section of the hotel. Marked off as private with a big easel. Again odd .. access to the pool .. fitness? They charged my CC twice once for the room and again for “incidentals” An odd way of doing things even though I understand that an incidental hold is common. The bed looked beautiful but has soft spots where you kind of rolled into the center. Breakfast was MIA in the am Not even a cup of coffee. It was however a good price!

It was inferior to the published photographs. There were many holes like bitten by small insects in the curtains々empty and terrifying, but the bed was beautiful.
Totally nonresponsive to our booking needs. We clearly communicated our needs for a handicap room as well as a double room to accommodate 3 family members. Nothing was as ordered when we arrived an hour past check in time. The handicap room had a tub when we requested a walk in shower. There was absolutely no storage in the room or bathroom. There was no safe in the room. We were told that this was how all handicap rooms were. There was no soap in the room. It took two requests from housekeeping to get soap and the head of housekeeping totally contradicted the front desk and said she would get us a room to meet our needs. At 10:30 pm we had to repack all our luggage and move to another room. This room did have a walk-in shower, a small free standing set of drawers in the bathroom, no other storage and a safe that was unreachable and literally on top of what is euphemistically called a closet. All this for only $250 a night, 3 rooms for 3 nights. Not an insignificant amount of money. The only accommodation we received after asking was a free buffet breakfast which was comparable to a Holiday Inn Express, adequate but certainly not lavish. Also because one person made the reservation they would not award loyalty points to anyone else even though we all paid for our own rooms. It shouldn’t be that complicated to change this request.
At first I was hesitant about staying here cuz of the negative reviews but it was actually pretty decent. Great location from the greenbelt ***** mall stores that me and my SO walked a couple times. We stayed on the main floor we did have someone stay above us that we herd them walking but it wasn’t to crazy and it was quiet at night. The bed was good to sleep in not the normal fluffy comfiness but it was still good enough to sleep and not wake up with any back pain. I did request additional pillows which wasn’t an issue for the front desk. They did have cookware to cook with that was convenient did have to purchase separately but again wasn’t to bad of a price and you get to keep it after your stay. I would stay here again and they were very accommodating to any request that I had. Great experience

This was a good location for a game at Maryland. The location is just off the beltway and there are some restaurants and other shopping within walking distance of the hotel. There was a security car parked in front of reception and this gave a good feeling. The parking lot is free. The rooms were clean and the linens smelled fresh. Reception was friendly with information. Seemed like a good location to stay overnight and catch a game at the University.
Next to Washington, Maryland, it takes 40 minutes to drive to Washington. There is everything around, and there is an IKEA. The hotel itself is very good, clean and friendly. The most commendable thing is breakfast, good taste, variety, is a rare breakfast at this price hotel.
Title copied from another reviewer who I totally agree with. Five guests ahead of me and it took 35 minutes waiting for my turn. To save your spot 1n the check-in line, you couldn't go sit on available lounge seats obviously. There were 2 check in stations but only one was in use by Michelle. Wait was so bad that I offered to come and open second service station just to get things moving. My local Autozone in Philadelphia salespeople greet every customer at the door but at no time did Michelle acknowledge guests or even attempt to explain long line to assure customers with ”I will be with you shortly” or ”apologies for the delay” or ”the storm crashed our computers” or similar. This leads me to conclude, with some accuracy that an extremely long check-in line is THE NORM at this location . . . . The hotel did have some good aspects, such as nice rooms and adequate gym facilities. However, they were totally overshadowed by the woeful first impression at check-in. Breakfast is also an EXTRA COST add-on i'e - not included in the daily room rate. At the very least, IHG should have added it as a freebie to compensate the guests for the long check-in. IHG must be unaware that most, if not all the guests are coming from a distance - such as a long drive and/or flight, COVID protocols at every stop, TSA rules, etc. By the time most people get to the hotel, the last thimg they want to deal with is another TSA or DMV-type line just to check in. TSA line is understood. DMV line also fully understandable. Long hotel check-in = unfathomable. If I were the front desk clerk I would start with: ”Welcome to Maryland, home of Chesapeake Bay. I do apologize for the long line, if you'd like to have a seat in our comfortable lounge chairs, please put your name on this list here and I will call you when it's your turn. How was your flight/drive? May I get you a chilled bottle of water?” Above will show compassion for your clients, get IHG a better review and soothe travel weary customers Unless IHG considers above outside of their capacity . . .
