So, I don't mind a basic hotel as long as it's clean and safe and the bathroom and beds are clean. This hotel is exactly that. Basic. I was not familiar with the area when I booked it, just needing a place to stay overnight while my daughter attended a horse show outside of town. I'm a Choice Hotels member, so I figured it would be ok. The hotel is likely not in a great part of town, and it shows. Kind of run down exterior, the halls smelled STRONGLY of cigarette smoke and the room doors were a little flimsy-feeling. Only one deadbolt lock option, which didn't instill confidence. The climate controls worked but were musty smelling, but the bathroom and beds were clean. The kicker was upon check in I was required to put down a deposit of $100 against room damages. If I put the deposit in cash, I'd get it back on checkout, but if I used my card, it would be 3-5 days to get the money. Conveniently, there was an ATM in the lobby with a $3 charge to take out the cash. Of course. Checking out took longer than I expected because the clerk had to run up to the room to inspect it for damage before I'd get my $100 back and could go. Staff was friendly enough. We did not try the free breakfast (mostly because we didn't have time to sit and eat once we went through the checkout process, and there were signs posted all over the lobby that food could not be removed from the hotel). I really cannot recommend this hotel, unless you are used to having to put down cash deposits and don't mind the sound of sirens and people running up and down the halls blasting their TVs all night.

It is one of my favorite places to stay when I visit Gastonia! The rooms are clean, staff very nice & helpful. The rooms have lots of shelving for storage & a nice sitting area near the window. The single rooms are so cute! You certainly can't beat the price & pets stay free!!!
This hotel is very unsafe and unsanitary! I booked a one month stay and here are a few of my personal experience with this hotel, staff and owner. Upon arrival after checking in the first room me, my husband and children went to was disgusting to say the least. A foul smell and the comforters and sheet's had cigarette holes in them. The microwave glass tray was filthy with burnt food stuck to it,the refrigerator was dirty inside and the bathroom had dirty shower and a beer can in the floor along with urine on the toilet seat. The towels were dirty..not stained..dirty with something black on them. I took pictures and went to the front desk and they didn't apologise, only changed my room. The second room was somewhat cleaner, at least the bathroom appeared clean, except for mold on the ceiling and graffiti on every wall in the entire room. There was no smoke detector was missing and pillow cases and sheet's were stained. The refrigerator only worked freezing everything inside. The telephone in the room was plugged in but didn't work. The room keys only worked for 24 hour's. Outside the trash was always full with bag's of trash beside it. As for the safety... I know the owner and staff are NOT concerned about the well being of their guest's. There is constantly drug activity and police on the property daily. As I walked to the store one day, which is at the entrance I looked down and almost stepped on a needle. I have also seen needles in the parking lot along with people doing drugs in the car. I have been approached by different people on different occasions offering to sell me drugs. This was terrifying!!! I awoke one morning to a woman screaming help in the parking lot. There was a young man who had overdosed laying on the ground. Luckily I got his heart beating and he lived. This was a tramadic experience for my entire family. I didn't hear anything from the owner or staff about the situation. The pool was horrible. It was constantly dirty with hair and roaches and a film on top of the water. The sanitary condition alone from this hotel during a pandemic is appalling. There was NEVER anyone sanitizing the pool or room's and believe me, I payed close attention. I would not allow my family to use the pool due to the fact of NO social distancing rules put in place or cleaning of the pool. The roaches are big and small and outside and inside the rooms. When I told the owner about my experience with the hotel..he became angry and loud telling me that I could go to another hotel. He also doesn't comply with the promotion put in place through Choice Hotels and when I spoke to him about my rewards and he refused to give them to me saying I had a ”special” rate. I know this to be untrue because I have redeemed my points for the exact stay before this. Luckily the Choice Hotels associate fixed the problem with my points. I advise that anyone for thier health and safety stay at any other hotel in Gastonia other than Econo Lodge. Actually the owner of this h

GGuest UserHampton Inn is often my go to chain when taking a trip that involves a short stay; especially when a long drive requires an over night with an early start the following day. No surprises, a clean room at a decent price; a well maintained facility; and efficient/friendly staff are what I am looking for. Of the many Hampton Inn’s I have stayed in, this one is in the top tier. Not because it’s the fanciest or newest. It delivered what I needed. The place is maintained well, our room was in great shape, check in was a breeze (they’re fully digital), the staff members I spoke with were friendly and efficient, the complementary breakfast fully stocked and was up and running early, and the coffee was hot. This was a one night stay on a long two day drive. It was convenient to I-85. There were a number of other places, I considered. However, this place was exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend this place if you need a place to stay in Gastonia.
We just completed a stay at this hotel. It was exactly as advertised and the staff was very courteous/professional. We stayed in a room on the first floor. It seemed as if the rugs have been cleaned with a disinfectant that had a strong smell. Nothing to sleep over it. I bought a deodorizer in a nearby store and that was it. Things to know: breakfast ends at 9am. It’s a small area across from the reception. It seems to include breads, cereal, oatmeal, eggs and turkey sausage. They also have yogurt, milk and bananas. There is a juice machine and coffee area. The pool was not open to guests during this stay but it looked nice. There is an on-site laundry room that guests can use free of charge. Only need your own detergent. A small computer/printer area that guests can use is available. No issues with the hotel and we slept a very comfortable. Lastly, room service is done every other day. It was a good stay and hotel is directly across Waffle House & Cracker Barrel.
GGuest UserThe hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast offered eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, 3 kinds of cold cereal, yogurt, toast and jelly. Our bed was very comfortable. The downside was that the room total was $2 higher than on our reservation. The clerk said that the Choice hotels does not calculate the taxes correctly (which just happens to make their room more attractive.) The other problem was that the luggage cart had 2 flat tires making it very hard to use.

RRobinsonFamily09Service is horrible, but after you are checked in the rooms are nice and the layout is great. Price is decent. Always ask for price match for online. Only option we had for room was 3rd floor, no elevator. Breakfast during Covid Is doable but just be prepared to order out. Close to multiple restaurants.
