We have stayed at several hotels throughout the years and this was our first time staying at the North Cliff hotel. We had a ground floor (1st floor) (king suite). It has a fantastic view of the ocean and entrance to Noyo Harbor. We saw whales from the balcony. From the hotel, you can enter the walking path that takes you clear to Pudding Creek. The walk is beautiful and whales and other wildlife can be spotted along the path to Pudding Creek and Glass Beach. Only negative we have is the internet/wifi was almost nonexistent. Very sporadic service. For a hotel such as this, a better wifi/internet system should be invested in. All-in-all we would stay at this hotel again in the future.

Stayed for two nights to attend an event at the Mendocino Botanical Gardens. Upon arrival, check-in was smooth and I was given a corner room on the ”backside” of the property. Pulled around and snagged a spot right outside my door - score! While unloading, just happened to hear my neighbors doing what consenting adults do.....ohhhh kaaaaay. Lord, help me! The walls are VERY THIN at this place. You hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are doing. Thankfully, they left shortly after their encounter. On night 2, the new neighbors decided to talk/party most of the night, not bothering to be mindful of others who may be resting - namely me. #sigh I started to call the office, but why bother. Let people live. I knew I was outta there the next morning. Much to my surprise, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large. The mirror was the best feature, but the pink tiled sink was a statement in itself. The bathroom window was open when I arrived (and I left it open) so I hear street noise as well. I imagine it was left open to ”air it out” from the funk that may be present. I went to get some ice for my ”adult sippy cup” (lol) and the ice machine has a ice scoop laying on top of the ice. So unsanitary. Who knows where the hands have been that used the scoop. I said a prayer over the ice and kept it moving. You couldn't pay me to go near the complimentary breakfast. The unidentified cereal was stored in containers that..... well, it looked like the cereal was stale, but hey, a gallon of milk was in the cooler for the cereal (just like home). I also noticed there was waffle batter/waffle maker and a toaster. No pastries, no yogurt - #hardpass In the description of the hotel, it says something about amenities that are comparable to more expensive accommodations and honestly, that's just not true. This place is what the elders would call a ”flop house” - google it! And, I noticed the shampoo, conditioner and soap are all the same color - same product perhaps? Definitely bring your own! Really and truly, instead of a facelift, this place should probably be bulldozed - it's way past it's glory days.

Very reasonably priced, extremely clean, and the staff are marvelous! Prices were higher during peak season/weekends, but the comparative value was still excellent. While I was there, nights were pretty cold, so I simply requested an extra blanket. The managers and staff were very kind and accommodating. Even during peak time, when fully booked, this place was quiet and comfortable. Would highly recommend for a comfortable stay at good value.
