This is a nice quaint inn filled with hand carved Spanish style furniture, comfortable bedding, and quality amenities. The grounds are beautifully planted and in full bloom during our visit. There is no other lodging option in Espanola that even comes close. Even though the inn is no far off the major road, it was surprisingly quiet in the room. A few reasons for 4 and not 5 stars: It is advertised as a B&B but does not serve breakfasts. The parking lot is not secured or patrolled and you have to sign a damage/theft waiver. Some maintenance is warranted inside to address water stains on the ceilings.
We've stayed in many hotels/motels and never seen anything like this Rodeway Inn. It is in a state of disrepair that you would have to see to believe. We found that our toilet seat was broken, drywall crumbling above the cooling unit, and the hallway carpet appeared stained in many places, cigarette burns in the bedspread, ( I was told that they knew about the cigarette holes and that the bedspreads were from smoking rooms and routinely shuffled from one room to another throughout the motel). The drawer was also missing from the night stand. After complaining to staff in fear that I might be held responsible, we were moved to a different room. The new room was much worse! toilet seat was very loose, sink was plugged,(always took approx. 15 minutes to drain, cigarette burns in the bedspread AND blanket. Dresser handle was missing, shower head for sprayer was broken. No way to shower and hold sprayer at the same time, no soap and one small bottle of shampoo was in room. Had to call front desk for more. Drywall in bad condition in several places, vents in air conditioning was clogged along edges with lint or ??? Light fixture above sink had two of four bulbs which left the sink somewhat dark. No light fixture cover in bathroom. No coffee makers or microwaves in rooms. We could hear very loud banging, etc. from the room above us most of the evening. The exterior of the building was not much better. I can say that the rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. Advertised breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, cereal, bread for toast, and small muffins. This place badly needs a total workover....SAD!!! Never again!!

I rate our recent experience as q minus 1. We stood there in May of 2023 and the room was decent the young man at the the front desk was polite and professional, we went back in September of 2023 to a very different scenario. The woman at the front desk was very rude . The room was filthy the sheets had what looked like dry blood or human waste whatever it was in was very disgusting. The staff didn't seem to care they did get us another room with clean bedding but acted like we over reacted regarding the dirty sheets and filthy room . Will never go there again. The young man working the front desk at checkout was the only positive part of our stay. We have yet to hear back from the manager regarding our concerns. Wouldn't recommend this motel at all.Tried to include photo of the soiled sheets on the bed but system didn't allow.
