Front staff was very nice. An older hotel but clean and worked for the few hours we needed before and after our trip. We flew out of St Louis airport. Shuttle wasn’t running at the times we needed it and it was kind of expensive to Uber/Lyft. We parked our car there while we were gone and it was safe when we returned.

Really an under-rated hotel. Good front desk experience, good food in the restaurant and drinks in the bar. I’d stay again in a heartbeat. ******s and I-70 are right there. I was hoping to use more of the hotel (pool, gym) but I found myself trying to find new tires for my car at 6pm after my tire found a screw.
It is a rare occurrence how one member of staff can ruin a vacation experience, but that is absolutely what just occurred for my family during our spring break trip (April 4-7). This is an older Candlewood that is maintained rather well. It was clean and, although not particularly impressive, average and acceptable. This was a spring break getaway for my 11 year old niece her cousin of the same age. I had originally booked a Holiday inn Express in a more centralized location, vitally important to us, due to the the indoor pool. Not long after, I found an affordable Staybridge Suites, also in a good location. The downside was a lack of indoor pool. So I called the front desk and was told that their guests had complete access to the indoor pool at the HIE located across the street, which is very common. Eventually I located this Candlewood location for an even better rate. Like most (or all) Candlewoods, there is no indoor pool. So, yet again, I called the front desk and was GUARANTEED that hotel guests had access to the indoor pool at the Holiday Inn located across the street. I booked for the three nights based on this information, even though this location was quite inconvenient compared to the previous two mentioned. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly and helpful front desk clerk. The same could he said for every other staff member I encountered. With one glaring exception. During check in, I inquired about how to access the indoor pool at the Holiday inn. Before the young, African American desk clerk could even respond, an older, mostly bald white guy (likely some kind of manager) inserted himself, clearly annoyed, by claiming he had never heard of such a thing.... implying that I was lying about my discussion with a desk clerk the prior evening. I had to ask him to please reach out to the Holiday Inn to find out the details, since this was something I had been promised. When I had to come back by the desk on my own, this older white gentleman proceeded to claim that after contacting the Holiday Inn, he was told that it was not a possibility dye to ”liability concerns.” Even though the hotel in question actively rents out their pool to non guests for birthday parties, etc. This gentleman offered no apology, no alternatives and was quite clearly annoyed at having to be bothered in the first place. We ended up having to pay really pricey fees to a local community recreational indoor pool 20 minutes away. This older white man was rude, aloof and offered no help. I am really quite interested in the special liability concerns that kept this hotel from being able to fulfill the promise made to my family and I myself. I would, in particular, like to know why it is not a liability concerns for other IHG properties in the same city to have an identical set up. Even if this particular Holiday Inn claimed that, could this gentleman not have asked about us paying a small fee? Sign a waiver? Anything....? This particular fellow was
The King suite itself was ok- couch a little overused and outdated- the bed was great king sized. the bathroom was awesome with a separate shower and tub and a closed door toilet area- but had a tv that was broken. Tvs are not smart and if they were- there was no access to stream from your phone. The lampshades had some type of dried up liquid on them. No room service- No concierge available when I arrived. Information and maps are outdated. The pool closes at 8pm during the week and 9pm on the weekend- The sun hasn't even set- and those were the ”new” hours. The pool was an alright size- 4ft deep throughout - Im sure due to the drinking hazards. All of this- and they still charge $11 for some type of service out of the $50 deposit. I booked through hotwire- added an extra day- and I basically had to beg the front desk clerk Kacey to be allowed to stay in the same room. SMH-. The stay was pretty mediocre for the prices charged. I paid close to $600 for two nights got this type of experience. Don't think I'd be paying to stay there anymore.

I'll start with the positives of the stay. The front desk staff were very helpful and nice, and apologetic when I mentioned something. They did the best they could. It seemed like the front lobby was busy all of the time, and they were very attentive to the guests needs. I was however, a bit disappointed in this stay. I booked the stay for a quick weekend getaway with a friend. I had asked for the top floor, and a quiet room. The hotel was booked solid it seemed so we couldn't have a room the top floor. I booked on the 19th and our stay was for the 24th through the 26. The room we were given was an accessible room on the first floor facing the interstate. I didn't ask for an accessible room, so maybe we were placed there as a last resort. There was absolutely no quiet. The room next to, or across from, us had their television on all night long at what seemed to be full volume on our first night there. Around 4am, they finally turned the tv off. The noise from people in the hallway, the people walking by our window, the neighboring rooms tv and the interstate, made for a very not quiet stay. Maybe it is quieter on the other side of the hotel, but we had zero sleep the 24th. Cleanliness: When we arrived, there was hair on the sheets, and the bathroom floor was so sticky that I asked the front desk staff for towels so I could clean the bathroom floor. I am certain it was just too much cleaner, so I wet the towels in just water and wiped the floor clean of stickiness. Additionally the carpet coming into the room looked extremely dirty, and there was very clearly something on the carpet in between the beds. The carpet seemed so bad, that we tossed towels on the floor to walk on instead of walking on the carpet. The top of the refrigerator needed attention also, there was sugar or crumbs in the grooves on the top of the door. The breakfast area was not kept clean during the breakfast, the hot water for tea was cold, and the breakfast was very lack luster. My friend did say the waffles were delicious and I just had the frosted flakes and a banana. I did mention all of these things when I checked out, and the staff at the front desk was again very apologetic. I don't usually write reviews that are this critical. I think that with just a little more oversight, and cleaning or replacing the carpet, things would be improved quickly. The hotel was in a location that allowed easy, quick access to the historic main street shops and trail. We had a great time at the new Main Street Honkytonk, a good salad and sandwich at the Bike Stop, and we did use the 10% off coupon at Texas Roadhouse. Overall it was a good trip, but the hotel stay could have been better.
