The breakfast was good, the coffee was good, the hotel was clean, the front desk was very good, the hotel was very satisfactory, the location was very good, there was a parking lot, and it was very convenient from the hotel to the parking lot.
Hotel was a little dated in decor, but it was quiet and clean - which is what matters to me! Furniture and textiles were all in good shape. I appreciated the use of technology to expedite check in and check out, the tag stapled to the card holder that had info about all of the amenities, and best of all - they had gluten free bread options at breakfast. That's a rarity and some I really appreciated!
Breakfast is generally American style, suitable for bringing children. It is located in the center of Indiana University Bloomington. The environment is beautiful and the air quality is good. The hotel has a history of 110 years. The scenery is beautiful and picturesque.

We were in Bloomington to visit a friend and found the Grant Street Inn to be both lovely and accommodating for our stay of three nights. The front desk staff were consistently gracious and helpful--from allowing us to check-in a wee bit early to avoid having to race to the IU campus for a 4pm faculty recital to providing extra towels after we were caught in afternoon downpour. We enjoyed our room with access to rocking chairs on the front porch. We felt all was very safe due to the Inn's covid protocols. All was very clean and welcoming. A final bonus, of course, was excellent location--getting to IU campus is easy walk and downtown breweries, etc. just minutes away by foot as well. We loved leaving the car in the Inn's parking lot and exploring on foot.

I mean quirky in a good way. We loved it starting with the lobby decorations and accessories. The college kids hanging out there for the free wifi ( i assume) gave it a good homey feeling. The room was unique with the door as a headboard and the other furniture and real pictures on the wall, Every interaction with the employee was pleasant and they always smiled and said hello. We will be back. we also found out they have a Stranger Things room. That means nothing to me but my wife was in awe , we didn't see it in person but looked at it online.
Hotel was nice enough for a business trip but check in encounter was outrageous. Arrived at 12:54 after flying 2 hours and driving another hour. Went to desk and was told rooms were available BUT there would be a 40$ charge to check in prior to 1pm. 6 mins early and 40$ charge? Asked for the manager who was standing right there. He ignored us and the clerk said he couldn’t make an exception. We went out parked our car and came Back in at 12:59 and we’re ignored until 1:03. Checked in with no upcharge. I challenge Marriott corporate to verify that is a company policy. I’ve stayed at many Marriotts and NEVER encountered an issue with early check in or been told there is an upcharge. Front desk clerks were nice but seemed intimidated by management. Next trip to Bloomington will definitely not staying here again.

The room environment is OK, there is a mistake in the middle of the service, but the communication and coordination of Trip.com service is very good, so I feel very good, I can place an order on Trip.com with peace of mind.
Breakfast ladies were fantastic!! Teresa, Kathy and Amanda were awesome! They took care of us by getting us coffee and keeping the tables clean. They made us feel like family and helped us in anyway they could. The gals greeted us every morning. They really love their job and are committed to customer service!!

Very Good
Went to breakfast and the bar was fully stocked by Michelle. She was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and modern with many amenities. All they staff was friendly. We only stayed one night, but would definitely come back when we are on the area.
GGuest UserThis is a sweet retro motel with the nicest owners and staff you will ever find. At check in there are wonderful mints and water bottles. The rooms are very clean and the beds are really comfortable and the wi-fi works great. They are working very hard on restorations. Sleepers bar which is connected is owned by Sleeper. Both Sleeper and the owner of the motel are former IU graduates. We just had some snacks and very good pizza and drinks at the bar, great service and conversation. The breakfast is wonderful, hot and cold items...who doesn't want biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs? There is a lovely courtyard which will be fun when the weather is a bit warmer! This is a great affordable motel in a good location and they are working very hard to make it a success. Stay there and support them, you will not be sorry!
For the third year in a row, I stayed at the hotel for five nights to attend a conference. Megan was wonderful when I checked in at 10:00 pm on Sunday night. She was cheery and had a great smile even though it was late. On Monday and Tuesday mornings there was very little food for breakfast, no eggs or protien, only whole and chocolate milk, and no fresh fruit. I asked about the situation and was told that the health department had made the hotel dispose of all the food in their refridgerator because it was not cold enough. Tuesday, June 25th, a super cell storm hit Bloomington and the hotel lost power. Guests spent the night without electricity or air conditioning. This was not within the hotel's control and Megan was again helpful and I was able to get a mini flashlight from a fellow guest. Wednesday morning, no breakfast at all. I feel management could have done a better job for guests during my stay by going to the Kroger, about a mile away, to purchase breads, pastries, and fresh fruit for breakfast. Several staff members went above and beyond during my stay. I needed to receive a package and Corey was great to be on the lookout for the package and check for its arrival. Konner was very helpful to help me dispose of the food in my mini-fridge that spoiled due to the power outage. The hotel was clean and the room comfortable I am a Gold Elite Bonvoy member and am very loyal to Marriott brands. This experience will not affect my loyalty. I just feel management should have made an effort to deliver my usual Marriott experience.
GGuest UserI tried to find a spot on the Bonvoy App for a review, but could not make it work so I am here now. We were in town for Homecoming and appreciated due to booking FAR in advance we could use points for our stay here. This is our 5th or so time at this hotel and it is due for upgrades ASAP. The Springhill is WAY better than this location, but it was not available. First of all, in the lobby the coffee carafes were always empty or cold. That was our first impression as tired travelers. My husband did the check in, but we heard a guest interacting with the staff due to bugs in their room and that gave us the creeps! We did not have bugs, but we had a worn room. The hall carpets and paint need replaced, and well as many of the room furnishings. The toilet in our room was all cracked in the inside, the carpet was dirty and the couch was dirty and had torn spots. The items in the cabinets were sp**** (We had been at a Townplace the night before and the kitchen was well supplied). Time to update this property for all the guests to Bloomington with IU there. We stayed on points and can't complain about the cost, but rooms were listed for greater than $800 at one point and if I paid that would be VIVID.
Nice, clean, and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Prompt, professional staff. Very secure with many cameras. Housekeeping does an excellent job and while I didn’t use it, the pool looked nice. Vending wax reasonably priced as well.
I'm pretty easy to please. I am slow to anger and quick to forgive. That being said, there were numerous things about this hotel that crossed the line for me, and I have to say something. Just one disgusting or frustrating thing after another. Cosmetic things, like the shredded curtain on the window, the dents and dings on the wall, the peeling carpet and paint--I don't care about that stuff. But brown and yellow stains all over the walls, chairs, mattresses, comforters, floor...I CANNOT tolerate. When we went to check into our room, the main light switch didn't work. The room was muggy, and reeked like a laundry basket full of dirty clothes. Hoping to air out the room I flipped the switch to the exhaust fan in the bathroom but of course it didn’t work either. I turn on a lamp to discover there are drips of some kind of brown sludge ALL OVER the floor, and of COURSE my coat fell in it. At first I thought they were cigarette burns or some kind of stain but I took a kleenex and wiped at it and it came right up. It was like a few dozen melted chocolate chips all over the floor. I HOPE it was chocolate. No way in hell am I walking around on this disgusting carpet in my socks. Then I discovered brown and yellow stains on the comforter. There is NO WAY you could miss all this stuff while cleaning the room. I went down to the front desk and asked for a new room. I will say, the staff I dealt with were very polite, apologetic, and helpful, doing what they could to accommodate me. They were about the only positive aspect of my experience I can think of. They got me a new room and it was better, but as we got further into our stay we discovered more things that were foul or frustrating. More brown and yellow stains on the mattress and floor. Yet again, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn’t work. The plumbing in the rooms sucks. The shower barely drained. First shower I took it was up to my ankles the whole time, second shower I took it was halfway up my calves. And YES I checked that the drain was cleared. The floor/base of the tub was caving in, rather than being flat it was U shaped, so awkward to stand in. The flush on the toilet was incredibly weak. You could say ”Why didn't you tell the staff about these problems so they could fix them?” I DID with some of the stuff, but when it comes to stuff like the shower and toilet, what were they going to do? Bring a plumber in to snake the pipes or repair them while I just awkwardly sit there? I didn't want to deal with that hassle and intrusion. And I didn’t want to pack all my stuff up and switch rooms again. At that point I was just so sick of it and I couldn’t wait to check out of the place. The only reason I gave this hotel 2 stars was because of the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. The breakfast was decent. Despite all their problems, the bathrooms were relatively clean. And I never saw any bugs. But the negatives far outweighed the positives. If
Great quality inn. Friendly staff, especially Angela. Good breakfast. Very clean. Room was nice. Tv works well. Easy to get to and good parking. Katia at the front desk was also friendly. I would stay here again. Bloomington is a great little town.
董董Good location, 3 minutes drive from IUB. Surrounded by College Mall, shopping and eating are easy and can be reached on foot. Hotel breakfast is simple. The hotel owner is Indian, and the people are very good. Because of the problem with the car we rented, it is the car rental company that the hotel owner helped to contact and personally drove us to the car rental company to change the car at the local office.
