I just spent a weekend in Alexandria for a conference next door to this hotel. I want to mention our experience with the very busy breakfast area. We ate the buffet breakfast which was adequate, but I particularly want to mention the ONLY person running the entire restaurant. Sergio Peters earns a gold star from me for his ability to keep the buffet stocked, while manning the cash register, cleaning up the tables, cleaning the dishes, etc., all by himself! In spite of being tasked with running the entire restaurant, he maintained a pleasant and helpful demeanor with us. Why he isn't the manager of that area with helpers to assist him is a question I would like to have addressed to whomever is running this hotel. It must be hard to find people like Sergio who are as dedicated and up to the task at hand as this young man is.
This was our stop over on our way from Orlando to Dallas, so we were really looking forward to a good night's sleep. It was in a good location with nearby restaurants and grocery store. We felt safe keeping our locked moving truck on the property. Room was large and comfortable with a good hot shower with good pressure. We spoke with Gregory before and after booking. He was so friendly, informative and helpful. On arrival Tim was great for check in. Small vending area available. A good experience.

My organization and I come to Alexandria a few times each year, and we've been faithful customers of the Home2 Suites the past few years. We typically booked 1-3 room(s) per stay, and most of our experience was relatively enjoyable. However, earlier this month, there was a MAJOR concern, and management failed to handle the situation properly. A person from my company is taking cancer medication cream, and their product treatment mysteriously vanished from their room while they were gone. This only occurred after an unrequested visit from housekeeping. The vanishing cream (this cream was in an expensive bottle and could appear to be a cosmetics cream; the treatment was purchased for $250+) was never found after repeated searches. My team and I thoroughly searched the hotel room several times, looking through the garbage, searching above shelves, checking underneath furniture - trying to do anything we could to ensure that the medication had not been accidentally misplaced. Additionally, we waited until we checked out of the hotel and we returned home to confirm that the medication was not packed away in our personal luggage... Alas, after everyone within the company unpacked their traveling bags, no cancer medication was found. I understand that 9 out of 10 times, missing items are typically attributed to guest error or misplacement. However, this was the 1 out of 10. The person in my company had to pay for another round of cancer medication treatment. There was no reimbursement whatsoever for our stay (we had booked multiple rooms for several nights), no responsibility on behalf of the management to conduct thorough investigation on the missing medical treatment, no protocol established to help restore trust in this business. Due to damaged trust and the failure of this hotel to adequately provide a solution or support in this situation, we will not do business with this establishment going forward. If you stay here, I recommend putting away any valuables, even when room service is unrequested... You might find something missing... but don't worry - at least you'll get those fresh towels you didn't request.
For the most part, the hotel was updated and comfortable. There were a couple of problems. This hotel was the host hotel for a Conference with probably 250-300 people. There were only 2 ice machines and one of them did not work. Upon arrival, we discovered that our phone in the room did not work. It was reported immediately and when we checked out 2 days later, it still did not work. To me this was a safety issue that should have been addressed immediately.
I drove in 4+ hours from out of state for a funeral. They would not let me do a late checkout at 3pm with the reasoning being they needed to have my room cleaned for future guest(s) and that me checking out later than the normal checkout time would delay their cleaning crew. I returned to the hotel at around 2:45-2:50p, and the cleaning crew was still there, indicating that they still would’ve been able to get my room cleaned and ready on-time for any potential guest. I also checked the availability of my same room type online prior to returning to the hotel and saw that they had 4 available. The inability to be flexible with a customer who was respectful and there for a funeral was despicable. I had to pay for an additional night just to go up and change clothes which took all of about 15 minutes. The room was clean when we arrived.

I'm handicap, in an electric wheelchair, and as soon as we book Trisha, ”Tish” called us to make sure we had made a good choice on rooms. We had 3 adults and the room we booked only had 1 bed. She got all pertinent information and called us back to give us the options she could with different rooms and their pluses and minuses. Have never had better service from any hotel! Older building but staff and set up was great for most handicap travelers!
