Find the Cheap Se Nova Hotels

La posizione, ai piedi della parte alta della città, di per sé è ottima, un po' meno lo è quanto a disponibilità dei mezzi pubblici di trasporto. È un vecchio palazzotto, già appartenuto a qualche notable del luogo, recentemente ristrutturato. Le camere sono ampie e luminose, con bagno, ma manca il bidet. Se l'insonorizzazione esterna è buona, quella interna, a causa dei pavimenti in legno, regala qualche scricchiolio di troppo. Il garage, gratuito, non è il massimo della comodita, visti gli spazi angusti di manovra. Buona la colazione. Non ho usufruito degli altri servizi (piscina, palestra, ecc.) La ragazza alla reception è cortese e disponibile. Tornati alle 17 abbiamo avuto la sgradita sorpresa di trovare la camera nelle stesse condizioni in cui l'avevamo lasciata, cioè con il letto da rifare. Valutarlo 4 stelle mi sembra un tantino ottimistico, direi un ottimo 3 stelle.

During my travels I always choose hotels with pools, as I like to relax in them in the morning and in the afternoon after exploring. That was also the case here in Coimbra. But, shortly after booking that hotel with a pool by Mondego river, I cancelled it when I saw pics of Solar Antigo. I sacrificed the pool and did the right thing. Solar Antigo is an amazing boutique hotel with a luxury touch. It consists of series of rooms in several historical buildings in old Coimbra, on top of the hill, close to the University. Each room is individually designed with amazing attention to details. Every inch of the room is carefully planned and beautiful with stylish furniture. We booked the ordinary room, but got an upgrade for a two level Jacuzzi room (probably God's compensation for that pool). The staff is so kind and welcoming - they waited for us almost until midnight to arrive. They provide free parking by the hotel in that tiny uphill street. Amazing views of Coimbra from your window. Breakfast is served in a basket and delivered to your room in the morning. You have 2 TVs, AC, bathrobe, coffee machine and a refrigerator with complimentary cooled bottle of champagne and couple of beers - unbelievable and unseen for a price of around 70 Euros a night for two people. The only problem is finding this jewel, specially at night when we arrived. But once there, all Coimbra attractions are in a very close walking distance. I must emphasize in terms of quality/price/location, Solar Antigo is one of the best hotels I've stayed in my 30 years of travel being in 500+ hotels in over 80 countries on all continents.

Very quiet and beautiful~

Tive uma experiência maravilhosa na Pousada da Juventude de Coimbra! Desde o momento da chegada até a partida, tudo foi impecável. O atendimento foi extremamente cordial e profissional, fazendo-me sentir bem-vinda durante toda a estadia. Os quartos em que fiquei são espaçosos, limpos e muito confortáveis. As instalações são boas e o pequeno almoço é excelente, com fruta e uma ampla seleção de itens frescos e saborosos. A localização da Pousada é excelente, com fácil acesso às principais atrações da cidade. Além disso, a equipa de colaboradores esteve disponível para fornecer recomendações e ajudar no que foi preciso. Recomendo a Pousada da Juventude de Coimbra sem nenhuma hesitação e certamente voltarei em futuras viagens. Uma experiência a repetir!

We stayed in very nice hotels on our Portugal trip. The ”stories” are mostly about how easy they were to reach and how convenient they were for parking. ”Reaching” this one involved a 15-minute re-route, but once we took the right turn, parking was a breeze! The hotel sits opposite the retaining wall of the university above it. Guests can park all along the wall on the alley approaching the hotel and then place a parking permit on their dash. Finding the hotel in the first place was trickier! GPS had us approaching it. We were SO close! But we missed the last narrow, alley-like turn. Suddenly we had a 15-minute re-route until we could approach the hotel again. Play very close attention to your GPS!! Nice location. Nice room. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff.
