Find the Cheap Santa Cruz Do Douro Hotels

I’m very happy with my experience at Douro Palace Hotel. The hotel features a very nice spa where you can unwind and relax after a day of exploration. The facilities were clean, and the pool, sauna, and steam room offered a relaxing touch. The spa's ambiance contributed to a peaceful time. The restaurant's decor, inspired by Portuguese themes, complemented the overall a**osphere. The view of Douro River and vineyards from the balcony was breathtaking. If you're into comfort and relaxation with scenic natural views, this is the place to be.

Very strange to find such a good hotel in one of the most depressing and rundown villages we've been to for quite some time. Everything about the hotel was very, very good.....The room, the spa, the staff and especially the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast were all way more than just OK. Clean, bright and modern. But the surrounding area seemed to be full of run down and derelict houses and what used to be hotels from the days when ' taking the waters ' was the fashion. Having said that, we enjoyed our one night stay enormously and would happily go back to stay next time we're in Resende.

De locatie van het hotel is geweldig. Gelegen in een vallei aan de Douro met een fantastisch zicht. Het hotel is zeer rustig gelegen, een beetje geïsoleerd zelfs. De aankomst was goed, we kregen een warm welkom. Het personeel van het ganse hotel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Onze dochter van 12 had een volwaardig 3de bed, geen kampeer- of uitvouwbedje. Dat hebben we ten zeerste geapprecieerd. Het ontbijt was zeer uitgebreid (buffetvorm) en van goede kwaliteit. De laatste avond werd ons gemeld dat er erg weinig gasten in het hotel verbleven en of we het ok vonden om een ontbijt à-la-carte te kiezen om op deze manier verspilling tegen te gaan. Het gemeenschappelijke terras naast het zwembad was heel aangenaam, met loungezeteltjes. Er was ook mogelijkheid om buiten te eten (zowel voor ontbijt als voor lunch en diner). We hebben 2x in het hotel gedineerd. De kaart was klein van keuze, maar was wel lekker. Wat we minder vonden: - De hotelkamer was aan de kleine kant. - We vonden het jammer dat er geen balkon was, zodat we 's avonds nog van het mooie zicht konden genieten. - Het zwembad was niet verwarmd. Maar het mooie zicht maakte veel goed. - De uitrusting van de badkamer was een beetje passé. - Weinig parkeermogelijkheid door de naastgelegen watersportclub.

It was absolutely amazing stay that we had in Douro valley thanks to the Douro Royal valley Hotel&Spa, especially because our trip took place when it was mostly raining… luckily, me and my husband were able to use that time properly in the hotel’s spa, having massage, enjoying the time in the swimming pool, spending some time in sauna and even at the gym. Thanks to hotel’s facilities the trip was not a waste of time, we could rest actively, we also enjoyed very much the overall ambience of the hotel and taking care of the personell so that overall the hotel is a calm place to stay at. What caught us by surprise was absolutely stunning dinner- each out of 6 courses we had was prepared and served with such a mastery that we thought we are at the resturant with micheline star chef- chapeau bas to the Chef - your courses are absolute masterpiece and the best of the best we tried on our 2-week trip in Portugal. Quinta do Bosque is an exceptional hotel in every respect. This was our second visit and we were as impressed the second time as the first, perhaps even more so. Christiano (and Maria) are first class hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful, (we had a suite, but all the rooms are great), with first class attention to detail in every respect. The breakfasts offer good choice and also the snacks available through the day are well thought out and presented. There is also a set evening meal available if required and is excellent value for three courses of local good food. The wine, made by the local cooperative, with grapes from Christianos vines, compliments the meal well. Overall Is there better value anywhere - I doubt it. The pool, the loungers and the view make for a very relaxing day. If you want to go out to explore the Duoro, this is a great base. There are lots of wine/port tasting venues nearby. We took a train from Regua to Pocinho (1.5 hours each way), which gives great views of the Duoro and is only around 13 euros return or 6 if over 65. It sounds a long time, but really was a good trip. (nb there is nothing at Pocinho - get straight back on the train and if you wanted somewhere to stop and eat, try Tua or Pinhao, and get the next train back). D&Y
