Very sociable kind staff who talk to you like a regular friend coming in, plain rooms but nice sized windows for the fresh air, great rooftop view alllllll over the mountain and the ocean - especially lovely at night as everything is lit up. Cute bar setup aside the pool too! Good price for its perfect location and cleanliness and covering all the basics and a bit more. Good brunch cafe just across the street facing the cafe! The staff were super helpful with setting up a late checkin too.

On the whole, it’s a really great hotel at the price. The rooms are spacious and clean.The staff were really helpful in organising things for my partners birthday and really went the extra step to make our trip special. Can’t fault the service. My only gripes are that you can’t set the you can’t set up the aircon yourself in the rooms and the gym is limited.

After several nights, you will notice that one or another manco, but for us, in general, everything is still at a level where it seems appropriate to the style. Very stylish overall and the professionalism or the handling of most employees with the guests at a successful level. In fact, you must not ignore the P/L. Not for everyone the right thing, but even the situation is a super compromise for us.

We had a junior suite at the hotel. Big buffet breakfast each day with great coffee. Fresh baked goods. Hit omelette and more. Lovely infinity pool with bar. So many restaurants right outside the door. We ate dinner here too. Enjoyed tempura and good home made soups. Ocean views. Nice staff. Clean rooms.

5th trip to Madeira Gardens. Sure we will be back though I must say it was not quite up to the standard of previous years. Rooms are starting to look very tired now and there seemed to be a distinct lack of staff. Though the ones that are there are as excellent and friendly as ever. Food is still very good and a lovely dining room. It now seems acceptable to take food out of the dining room and one couple in particular took huge bowls of food out every night and 4 bananas and various fruits in the morning. Not our way of doing things but quite a lot of people were upset by this and reported it but they still went unchallenged. Missed the Tui staff welcoming everyone into the dining room. Lots of sun beds around a beautiful pool. Indoor pool was spot on this year.. ideal temperature. Such a shame hardly anyone goes in the Magnolia lounge as there are some really good entertainers but unfortunately it seems like an old people’s home. With the high back chairs. Probably be better used as a games area and have music in the bar as more people congregate there. All in all still a lovely hotel.. just lacked the little bit of something special for us this year but with the vast number of return guests it can maybe get away with it.

The hotel is in Lido area with plenty of restaurants and small super markets near by. Only 3 mins walk to bus top where can bring you to City Center €1.95 single one way and airport. €5 single one way, €8 return. Walking to City center is about 20-30mins. Only 10mins walk to Forum Madeira shopping mall. Breakfast is good with many choices of fruit, salad, yogurt, ham, eggs, bread, cereals. Indoor, outdoor pool and gym are nice too. We stay in sea and swimming pool view studio with kitchenette. The balcony is wonderful. Staffs are polite and patient. Only one con, no air conditioning in 31 degrees. Only have a ceiling fan.

This was a good hotel find for those on a budget. It was also one of the only places that didn’t have the crazy policy of completely nonrefundable bookings for an island where planes may have issues landing due to weather conditions. Service was good and the room was comfortable with a fridge which is useful. The only thing that bothered us is that i paid for an oceanview room but got a partial view with construction cranes. The view from some of the rooms is not the best, lots of construction currently around the hotel and the hotel should be more upfront about this. I could see in the future the view from our room 712 may not even exist as there is a building being built there. Breakfast was decent, nothing special. The rooftop is very nice for drinks in the evening for sunset.

We arrived on the 15th of December for a 2 week break on half board basis. Food was great, we ate in the a la carte most nights and breakfast was taken in the round restaurant on the 5th floor overlooking the sea. It was fantastic eating breakfast in the sun! We have been to Madeira a few times around Xmas but never actually for Christmas day and beyond. The hotel made the whole festive experience really traditional with the most amazing choir performing in the evening and a beautiful candle light dinner for Christmas eve and buffet for xmas day! The hotel is really charming and in a brilliant position for funchal or the forum, both are about 20/30 easy walk.The supermarket is across the road and really handy and there are a good few restaurants within short walking distance too. There is direct sea access just a few steps away from the pool and you can always get a sunlounger as there was nobody reserving them. The hotel is going under renovation and will hopefully still retain it's charm but with a nice fresh, modern twist? Our room was absolutely fine with comfy beds lot's of pillows and pool/bath towels replaced regularly. Our balcony was a good size with stunning views of the sea. Everything was taken care of and nothing was a problem! The staff are probably some of the nicest, most accommodating that we have met in all of the hotels we have stayed in and always greeted us with a friendly, smiling face and had time for a quick chat. Our maid was super helpful and left our room spotlessly clean.Pestana you have some fantastic, hard working staff at the palms! I would absolutely return anytime not just over the Christmas period to this hotel. Keep doing what you are doing. Hope to visit again when the renovations are complete. Obrigado
