I recently stayed at Haka House Mount Cook and overall, it was a good experience. The location is good with easy access to nearby attractions. The staff were friendly and accommodating, helped me solve a double payment issue.
However, the noise insulation could be improved. It was easy to hear sounds from outside, which was a bit disruptive at times. Despite this, the comfort and atmosphere made up for it. If you're planning a visit, consider bringing earplugs for a more restful sleep.
We stopped for coffee and cake, ordered at the counter and were given a number. The warmed cake arrived, no coffee. We waited and waited and ten minutes later enquired where it was. The waitress said ”I'm doing it now. It's a long line”. No it wasn't. Unfortunately there is only this place and a cafe at Mt Cook village. Choose the village.
