My wife and I spent 4 nights here for our 10th anniversary and really enjoyed it. Overall we found the service was not quite as good as we've had in other all inclusives, though the staff were all still exceptionally nice and friendly, and the facilities were as good or better. We've stayed at several tropical resorts and the 2nd floor private pool casita here was our favorite of any we've stayed in. We booked through a personal travel agent we've used for years, who set us up with the anniversary package. There was a bottle of champaign waiting for us when we arrived, and at check-in they gave us a gift certificate for $100 of resort credit (more on that later). We also booked private transportation to/from the airport through Lomas, their resident transportation and excursion company, which was worth every penny. It was almost unsettlingly quiet around the resort. We got the impression that most of the rooms at the resort were empty, maybe because it was ”off season.” It meant that we never had any trouble getting seated at dinner (even the first night when we hadn't made a reservation), getting drinks at the bars, or having our pick of beach cabanas, but at first it almost made us wonder if there was something we didn't know. Turned out to be a good thing though. No waiting, lots of privacy, and quiet. The room was great. It was missing a mini bar, with only beer and soda in the fridge, but it was roomy, with a comfortable bed, great view through the large front window, and we loved the outdoor shower (never even bothered with the regular one). We especially loved the private pool. It was great for a relaxing afternoon dip, or for a late night swim after dinner. The light in ours (and some others in our block) was broken, but that just added to the privacy at night, so we didn't mind at all. We were actually told that the group of casitas we were in was reserved for exotic club members, but it had been available to book online, so maybe it was just because it was off season. I'd definitely recommend it if you have the option. The only thing better would be one of the 4 presidential suites with wrap-around beach front balconies and walk out balcony over the sand, though their pools are more out in the open. The lower level casitas do have the benefit of a shorter walk to the bar for a drink, though. I'd recommend booking dinner at Fuentes. The dinner and wine pairing are both extra charges, but it was the best meal we had the whole trip (maybe even at any resort), and it was a fun show. I also heard good things about the (free) trip they offer to another of their properties just a little further south, but after dinner with a full wine pairing, and a late night swim, we didn't get up early enough to catch the 8:10 shuttle over. The rest of the restaurants were nice. None stood out as exceptional, but the food was good. We thought Santa Fe had the best breakfast, and the brick oven pizza place was really good for lunch. The hotel is in the large park of Kaman Beach. There are many luxury hotels around. There are many golf courses. The hotel is a holiday nature and there are many recreational items. Please don't compare with the city business hotel. The balcony has bird droppings and the room has spiders. Normal, because the hotel is covered by the jungle, there are many flora and fauna, the breakfast is good, dinner is better, there are many restaurants and pools, the beach and sea are medium!

I have stayed in some top hotels. This is undoubtedly the overseas hotel with the best value for money and the best service I have ever stayed in. It includes free park tickets. Other hotels pick up from the airport by shuttle bus or the like. This one is a Model Every employee around the clock is enthusiastic and serious. They also speak the best English among the Ten Days Inn in Mexico.

GGuest UserI don’t even know where to start. Residence Inn at Marriot Playa Del Carmen has to be on of my pleasant hotel experiences ever. Starting from the positive vibe you feel as soon as you enter the premises all the way to when you checkout, they make you feel like a truly valued guest. Staff Everyone keeps smiling at you and they always try their best to accommodate your requests. Willy(security) was always there to assist whenever we arrived at the hotel. He was very professional and knowledgeable of the area, so he could put you on the right track regardless of which destination you were trying to get to. Gabriela (front desk) was super pleasant to work with during our check-in, when we had to extend our stay and every others time we had to request assistance from her. She always had a smile on her face and truly made us feel welcome. Cleanness The hotel appears to be brand new, with modern amenities and great décor. They keep all the common areas squeaky clean. I had to work from my room, so oftentimes when Domingo and Paulina came by to clean the room, I was in the middle of a meeting, but they never gave up on me and kept coming back until they made sure my room was clean on daily basis. Amenities Considering it is a hotel, they have an amazing gym and rooftop pool. I was hesitant about working out there at first when I made a reservation, but after seeing the equipment, size and clean environment they have at the gym, I actually looked forward to working out in the mornings. Food They serve decent breakfast(included) in the mornings between 7 to 10 am. They also have a specious dining area, so you will never have an issue finding a table. Waiters are also amazing, they try everything they can to make sure you have a pleasant dining experience. Thank you for an amazing experience, we will be back!

Can arrange transpo ahead time right through the condo/hotel. The check in was seamless--ladies at front desk so friendly,professional,courteous. The entire staff for that matter is kind,helpful, will help get you whatever you want or need. Erick was always super helpful!!! The facilities are lush,green, decorated beautifully, great breeze form the water. The place is immaculate. Pools are great-clean, beautiful hot tub w built in seats facing the ocean is a nice touch! Some of the units have their own hot tubs. I was so pleasantly surprised by all the amenities like coffee grounds, paper products, water form the dispenser etc- amenities not usually included when I have rented condos . Looved being able to get day passes to the local gym and enjoy yoga, bootcamp etc. Location is perfect. Right on the beach. Sargassum was bad some days but hotels on beach trying really hard to keep it cleaned up-not their fault, problem all along the coasts,even Florida getting hit hard w it. I loved that Taj has its own nice little private beach area, comfy chairs w umbrellas complementary, cute restaurant on beach. Few minute walk north of us is Mamitas Beach and another beach just to south of us, also wlaking,if you want more aciton. Few block walk to 5th ave w all it's shops,restaurants,music.,nightclubs. Loved it so much I already booked a room here for an upcoming trip.

KKristinaThe hotel is absolutely gorgeous, lots of palm trees, flowers, birds - during a day that's a quiet paradise. But at night... Sweet Jesus, there are two bars next to the hotel, and you can hear them both PERFECTLY. If you are a night person and won't be in bed until 2am, you're good. But if you dare to try sleep a little earlier, you may be a little bit distracted.
Rather than that, the hotel, facilities, people, service, location - everything is awesome.

The location is great for access to the beach and walk around 5th Ave. The bartenders and the travel shop/scuba shop were great the hotel maintenance and front desk staff were not the best. We did have issues with our rooms and they were fixed eventually except the king room
that we booked was not available and we had to share a double bed. Iit’s an older hotel with musty smells and stuck drawers. The pool closed early on a Saturday night (8pm) but the mariachi/karaoke can play until 11pm and the noise will carry into the room. The kelp on the beach is filled with sand fleas and we came home with over 100 sand flea bites between the 5 of us. The buffet was ok but not worth $45 per day per person.

The touristy pedestrian 5th Avenue is flanked by a great music scene reminiscent of New Orleans - IMP. Lots of great live music everywhere, afternoon and evening. As with all tourist destinations it was not inexpensive. While you could find deals (25 peso tacos at The Best Tacos Ever on Mondays) - and local beer from 50 - 65 pesos, hamburgers were 250 pesos at the beach clubs, and we paid as much as 500 pesos for lunch portion of grilled mahi-mahi with a small portion of yam fries. This seemed to always include fresh corn chips, salsa and very often live bands, not mariachis, but 3 to 5 piece bands. This is a new condo hotel residence located at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue, which is 2km north of the ADO bus terminal, the ferry terminal and the centre of the tourist area all of which are on 5th Avenue. It is about 4 blocks to the clean and modern Chadraui Grocery store and 4 blocks to the beach. It is a very pretty building with marble floors, open air lobby with front desk and coffee shop. Great cappuccino. The front desk is manned during the day time. Carlos was friendly, spoke English fluently and was very helpful. The desk’s job was to call the owner if there was a problem with a suite. There is a security person at the building lobby entrance 24 hours. Fresh linens were on Wednesday. This is not a full service hotel. The condo units are owned by different people - meaning, to us, each unit has different kitchen supplies and maintenance, for example. The one bedroom units have two bathrooms, and are designed to be locked off to create 2 separate units. The square footage of what you are renting is listed on the website. Check this carefully to know what you are renting. We had a full ( both parts - Suite 205 and 205L) of a one bedroom suite with balcony. One part would be bedroom with king bed, TV and bath. The other part has kitchen, table height dining bar for 4, TV and a pull out couch and bathroom. The building opened November 2021 and with travel restrictions, I am guessing this season could be considered their first. Like all new buildings, it has construction glitches to be worked out. Hot water was intermittent, water pressure was highly variable and for 24 hours there was no water. The safe in 205L did not work. One of our group (305 and 305L) had next day service (24 hours +) on getting their safe open when it failed. The entrance key for the suite is kept in a lock box beside the entrance door. You will be given a code to access your key. The locks are fussy. We requested and received a key card for the second entrance door. The balcony doors slide back to create a full open air kitchen. The bedroom had blackout curtains. The kitchen had dishes and cutlery for 4. It had 2 non-stick fry pans and assorted non-stick pots and cooking implements. There was

GGuest UserFrom 05/27/23 until 06/01/23 this was the 3rd time I've ever been to this hotel, but the 1st time since 2009. My experience was a negative one, sadly. There was a blonde receptionist I first met who was fine. It was the brunette receptionist that was not accommodating, not friendly. This hotel has 2 buildings, one on 5th Avenue and the other 10th Ave. They put me in the 10th Avenue building where there was no one on site. 6 days, I did not see anyone, day nor night. Walking through the courtyard at night and not one room had lights on. No one at the jacuzzi, nothing. I asked to be moved from this building to the main building where there were other guest visible and the brunette receptionist said no and walked away. There was another employee that I asked and he said no. I stated that I would look for another hotel and that other employee said ”ok”. I only had the breakfast plan and ate 2x in the cafe and the food was ”ok”. The first day I was still a little hungry and took a little box of cereal with me. I got stopped at the door and was told that I could not do this. The only positives: (1) I had a clean room and (2)the tours planner Bernardo was great. He was the only person to treat me nice and talk to me like a friend vs. a number. I had enjoyed this place in the past but will probably never come back.

GGuest UserWe just had the dubious experience of staying at Reina Roja Hotel, an empty bathhouse, er, a “boutique hotel” in the center of PDC. We stayed there because we had read some places saying that it was one of the gay-friendly hotels in town. Regrettably, I did not log in to Travelocity and check the reviews (lesson learned!) First, the good (hey, can’t be all bad, right?): The TVs are upgraded and large. Breakfast is provided – and it’s OK for the most part. Parking is available for a small fee. The hotel is steps away from the famed tourist-trap Quinta Avenida, if you care to be that close to it. And, while it’s a weird design aesthetic, it is a coherent one; to me, it felt pretty creepy and liminal – which isn’t necessarily bad. Now, the bad: This is a NOISY place. Techno starts at ten AM and continues through the early morning hours. I had a falling rain soundtrack turned up to monsoon levels to mask the thump-thump-thump of techno. If you decide after this review to actually stay here, either drink yourself into a coma, bring lots of Ambien, and/or have great earplugs. Furnishings are sp**** and uncomfortable. For example, the bed is firm. Very firm. Klingon-style firm. The sofa was poorly padded as well – and there was only one bedside table. Lighting? Mostly for design, not practicality. No lighting conducive for reading, either by the bed or the sofa. Washcloths are hoarded like gold for some reason (I noted it in another review); we requested more than one, but didn’t get them. Water pressure in the shower? I know, shower issues are a common problem in Mexico - well, this place has them too. The rain shower head provided more of a drizzle (and small for a rain head) – and the temperature fluctuated wildly from just right to boiling hot in a split second. Don’t be tempted by the claims of “boutique”. Or the low price. You can find much better properties in the same price range.
