I stayed at Yamae Onsen Hotaru, which is attached to a village-run public bath. Since it's a public bath, I thought there would be a lot of customers that day, so I stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The open-air bath was a slightly melting hot spring that felt good. The food was voluminous and delicious, with locally sourced salt-grilled sweetfish, chicken shinjo, and chestnut kamameshi. The next morning, the public bath was reserved for guests only, so I was able to take a relaxing bath.

1. The hotel staff has a good attitude and polite responses.
2. The room is spacious and clean, facing the Kuma River and Hitoyoshi Castle ruins, with beautiful scenery.
3. The breakfast is exquisite and delicious. The fruits include strawberries and cantaloupe, which is very surprising.
4. The large bathhouse has good facilities, is bright and clean, and the hot springs are smooth and very comfortable to soak in.
Stayed in a guest room with an open-air bath with 3 family members with elementary school students. It was renovated in 2021, and the inside of the building and the rooms were very clean and sophisticated spaces. The room has a terrace overlooking the Kuma River, and I thought it would be nice to spend a relaxing time looking at the scenery in the summer. The large communal bath was large enough and the quality of the spring was strong and very good. The open-air bath in the room was thinner than the large communal bath, but this is satisfactory because it is soaked slowly whenever I think of it. The meals are seafood, mountain food, and meat and rice based on ingredients from various parts of Kumamoto. All of them were very beautifully served and the taste was very delicious. It was a satisfying meal that the amount was just enough to eat. The staff 々 was also very polite and the service level was very high, from young to old. The only disappointing point was that the parking lot was a little far away and the distance required to pick up and drop off by the inn car was the only disappointment.
Facilities: Complete facilities, modern decoration style, and relatively new facilities everywhere.
Hygiene: clean and odorless.
Surrounding environment: Kuma Hospital is next to it, which may be a bit uncomfortable psychologically, but it is located in a relatively prosperous area of Hitoyoshi, with convenience stores, izakayas, supermarkets, and souvenir shops.
Service: The English level at the front desk is good.
