Pay attention to the double bed room, the price difference between single occupancy and double occupancy is relatively large, and others are very good.
This was not the best capsule room I booked. But this guesthouse has their own kitchen so you can cook and barbecue and washing machine. Good view from the lake.It also have a hot bath. Mr. H**aru is so approachable. As a solo traveler, I felt I had left a friend there. From my 4-day solo trip I am glad I went there on my last day.
I will come back there. š
Despite the language barrier, you can still feel the enthusiasm of the service staff. There is no bathroom in the room booked this time, a large bath is enough. The free large bath has an outdoor part but no view.
In a large room, family ļ¼ people, I was able to sleep slowly.
The facilities were a bit old but kept clean.
I was able to accompany you to work early in the morning and start a pleasant day.
There are public baths and convenience stores nearby, which is convenient.
I was able to spend a relaxing time in a quiet environment. Also, the open-air bath in the sake barrel was the best. I had good memories of staying with a dog.

I really like this house~ The design and decoration of the house is very Japanese and fashionable. There are many things. It may look messy, but those who choose to live here should not care too much about it. After all, itās here. For these messy hand-made decorations~! In the room and in the small cafe below, most of them are made by One Piece. The workmanship is exquisite and the styles are many. When the decoration is suitable. On the first night of staying, I didnāt go out to play. It took a long time to take pictures in the house to see the figures. Ahaha~ quite satisfied~!

AAnonymous UserIt was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay.
The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time.
The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesnāt fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata!
The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didnāt use the hot tub.
Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable!
Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat!
The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back.
Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!
SSephauraMy partner and I thorougly enjoyed our stay at Biwako Hotel. All rooms face the beautiful Lake Biwako and the view was perfect. We even caught a snowfall on one of our mornings here. The staff was great and always friendly even when there was a slight language barrier. We tried their breakfast as well which was really good. Highly recommend renting their electric bikes and cycling around the lake during sunset. And also going for the Lake Biwako Cruise! The hotel onsen is wonderful as well, we will definitely be back
KkiddingHotel is pleasant but the meals are of average standard for 500 a night catering breakfast and dinner with a private outdoor shower, onsen tub. Service staff are responsive but the surrounding area where hotel is located seems to be housingā girlie bars ā and night girls clubs activities.
Shuttle bus to and from station provided by the hotel.
GGuest UserI couldn't speak Japanese but I could feel that they are treating every customer seriously. Their greetings and sincere services impressed me.
There was a problem with my booking initially, not sure why because I didn't get proper explanation from the hotel and Trip.com, the hotel didn't mention anything however arranged some small surprise when they knew this is an anniversary trip. I tried to upgrade my meal with crab as my wife not quite like beef and fish, they said unavailable so I keep to the original. At the end I got crab, fish and beef that surprises me. I was later received a souvenir from the hotel when they served the dessert.
The hotel is busy but I'm not seeing lots of people, may be all of them staying at their rooms. The experience for me was exceptional when I woke up at 6am witness the beautiful sunrise right outside the huge window, and saw an eagle passing by my camera when trying to capture that moment. Later on when I take the free shuttle bus ride to the nearby train station, I saw an eagle again came down and climbed up outside the station. Not sure it means anything, but definitely this is a very spiritual journey for me.
AAnthea baoThe hotel is well-known in the Xiongqin Hot Spring area. There was only the last one left when booking. It was not disappointing. The environment is typical Japanese style, comfortable and beautiful. The hot springs are very, very comfortable. It is really great for people who walk 20,000 steps a day. ā¤ļø There is a shuttle bus to the hotel. You can contact it by phone at Xiongqin Hot Spring Station. It only took about 10 minutes to wait. Thank youšš» The dinner for one stay and two meals is super delicious. It is definitely worth recommendingšš»šš»
RREFTZ**Breathtaking Views**
The hotel offers stunning views of Lake Biwa, Japanās largest freshwater lake. My room featured panoramic vistas of the tranquil waters and surrounding mountains, especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
**Comfortable Accommodations**
The spacious accommodations blended traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The cozy futon bedding ensured a restful nightās sleep, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
**Delicious Dining Options**
Dining was a highlight, with a breakfast buffet that included a delightful mix of Japanese and Western dishes, emphasizing local ingredients. Fresh seafood and seasonal fruits made each meal enjoyable.
**Excellent Location and Amenities**
Located in Otsu, the hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the area. It offers free parking for guests and complimentary bike rentals, making it easy to explore the scenic lakeside paths and nearby attractions. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing recommendations for local sights, such as the historic Enryaku-ji Temple.
Lake Biwa Hotel is a fantastic choice for a peaceful getaway. With stunning views, comfortable accommodations, and great amenities, I highly recommend it for a relaxing escape.
GGuest UserI would have said that we had a wonderful stay: loved the peaceful environment, the food, the morning serviceā¦. But then they started the morning with a team of workers going through the temple grounds with deafening leaf blowing machines! Why do they disturb the peace like this? The temple claims to be environmentally conscious, but these machines are noisy, irritating, wasteful and bad for the environment. It made me leave the place in a bed mood.
MMozhudishengIt's a 5-minute walk from Otsu JR Station and a 10-minute walk from Keihan Electric Railway's Torino-Seki Station. The location is good. Super is a chain of budget hotels with high cost performance and includes buffet breakfast. I especially want to praise the service at the front desk. The next morning, I found that the traffic was exhausted. The front desk said that Otsu is a small place and needs to go to Kyoto or Osaka to buy, and asked me about the itinerary for the day. I said that I would go to Koyasan and transfer in Osaka; after that I went to have breakfast. Halfway through the breakfast, the front desk came over with a color printed map (Osaka JR Station), and told me that I checked it. There is a yodobashi, which is on the right hand side of the station. I thank you. After eating, wait for the elevator , she came here with a highlighter in order to mark yodobashi on the map, it was just a trivial matter, but this kind of service awareness, the spirit of feeling that I can still do it, moved me, it is worth learning, stranger , a small city, a small thing makes Otsu warm and memorable.
YYuchengClerks are all very nice, and they have shuttle buses to the JR station.
However, foreign tourists with tattoos should note that they cannot use public bathroom, but they will still be charged the service fee of it.
RRoger MichaelOk. First of all leave your expectations at home expecting hotel level service. Once you've done that if you want a cheap but clean place to stay this is it. This is a seinenkan - a facility for youth and youth-related organizations to conduct independent study and recreational activities, many of which have basic accommodation facilities but higher grade facilities than youth hostels. They are located all over Japan. I stayed in a tatami mat room on a floor with shared toilet facilities. The ground floor has a large communal bath - obviously separate for male and females. They have lights out at 11 p.m. and guests must return by the same time. There is a very modern cafe onsite serving cheap breakfasts (see photos) but the cafe closes by 6 p.m. There is a convenience store 10 minutes walk away so I suggest you buy snacks and beverages en route from JR Ishiyama station. For dinner, there is a family restaurant - good value and okay food - about 6 minutes walk away.
The seinenkan is located on a small island by a historic bridge. The views of the river inlet flowing into the main Lake Biwa is relaxing, lots of bird wildlife, and lots of rowers (the seinenkan is a water sports facility too). and the sunrise and sunset views are lovely.
The staff are very kind. It cost me Ā„5,500 for one night and I will stay there again if I have the opportunity.
