The room is very good, clean, there is a bathtub, the facilities are newer, the location is in the city center, there is a JR pass, you can take the orengejr sightseeing bus directly to the jr station. Breakfast restaurant is particularly good
Surprised to see a poor review for this place as this was one of the best places on our stay in Japan. Booked the multi bed room for my family and the kids (ages 8 & 11) absolutely loved the upper bed cubicles. Each cubicle came with a comfy bed and desk area that runs the length of the bed with a reading light, UBS/plugs receptables and privacy curtains. Shower and bathroom facilities are good and you are sharing the property with only a handful of others. The staff at the restaurant and at check in and check out were some of the friendliest most helpful people we came across on our entire trip. The roof top deck has wonderful views and the food and vibe in the restaurant was excellent. If we ever come back to cycle the Shiminami Kaido again this is where we will be staying.

Super satisfied! Far exceeded expectations! The whole building is bigger than it looks in the photos! There is a Japanese garden in the building! Super beautiful! The location requires a boat or a bike. If you have luggage, don't worry about taking the boat. It is also very convenient. The hotel is right after you get off the boat!
The service is particularly good! Enthusiastic! The food is really great! The pillows are really hard!
If you pass by nearby, I really recommend you to experience it! We arrived late and there were no bicycles to rent, so the owner lent us his! He was afraid that we would take the wrong boat and chased us out to help us find the way! Great!!!
The price is for one house Up to 6 people can stay You can swim and fish in the sea right in front of you We have a BBQ set so please bring only the food There are 6 spacious beds

We loved the Uonobu Ryokan. It the perfect overnight stay in Onomichi.
The location is right next to the water with unblocked view of the inlet. It's also great location to visit the town.
This ryokan has a very traditional look and you will get the full japanese hospitality experience (food, service and customs).
We will come back!

Located right in front of Setoda Port. Great as soon as the ferry arrived. The room is comfortable. The lights and the sink on the porch are both good. Although I don't often meet the staff outside of meals, I can feel their thoughtfulness throughout. The baskets they brought to the bath were especially popular with families. The famous lemon bath smells good and is a great experience. Dinner was quite large. The four types of sashimi were delicious. In terms of quantity, it might be okay to have 3 types. Also, the boiling may be a matter of personal preference, but the broth could be improved a little. Breakfast, this was great. It's especially refreshing to eat horse mackerel with green sea**** on top, so I think I'll try it when I get home. Suggestions for ways to eat that you wouldn't normally do. This is the real pleasure of traveling. Great bread and coffee service. I was a little tired of eating only Japanese food, so I'm glad. Moreover, a variety of breads, including donut bread, go well with coffee. Tsutsui is in a great location, close to the lemon cake shop Koeido, the croquette shop Oka Tetsu Shoten, the 100% satisfaction rate Kosanji Temple, and the Takotendon restaurant Chidori. Shimanami Dolce is far away, so you can rent a bicycle and go there to get a good sweat and eat some delicious gelato. Recommended when visiting Ikuchijima.

GGuest UserStayed 1N. This is a very small hotel. It is located facing the water and beautiful sakura trees. The lobby is located at the back street and the restaurant is at the front of the building. Check-in was quick and the front desk personnel were hospitable. I was assigned a room facing the water and the sakura trees which were in full bloom. The room is typically small by Japanese standards. Only 1 small hard pillow, firm bed. Strong Wifi signal. Breakfast was a semi-buffet - the mains came in a tray and the breads, cereal and juices were self-service. The owner is an elderly gentleman who took the trouble to meet and greet guests at breakfast. No on-site onsen. You'll need to take a taxi to the nearest bathhouse.
El Mochilero is a five star hostel, it is clean, there is more than ample space in the rooms, each guest has access to her /his own locker with it's own key where you will find several towels folded in a the manner of five star hotels in a very cute basket, there are also earplugs in each basket. The room I was staying in had four beds and there are two other rooms on the second floor. Very clean bathrooms with a bathtub. But what sets El Mochilero apart from other hostels is that it is family owned by a warm, caring and hospitable family.I felt right at home with Senora Carolina, su mother and her brother Percy.I was hosted as a member of the family and this will stay with me. There is a hearty breakfast served in the morning with orange juice and coffee that will sustain you through the day. I cannot thank enough this family for the way I have been hosted. And I hope to see them again.
GGuest UserI spent a night here with my gf and it was a marvelous experience. They offer a luxurious dinner and breakfast experience that uses locally caught seafood and ingredients that will made your stay very pleasant. Located in a quiet area away from the city's hustle and bustle but still within walking distance from the local station and seaport. The staff were very hospitable and very thoughtful. The room offered a traditional Japanese bathroom with a tub made from cypress that gives a pleasant aroma when bathing. It has a nice outdoor view that you can enjoy from comfort of your own bathtub. The rooms a nicely appointed and have a 5-star experience that you can only experience at this ryokan. I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever visit Onomichi!
RResort45967421506This is a wonderful hotel, unfortunately we were put into the smallest room, one that was so small and filled with unusable furniture that there was no space for one guest let alone two. Getting around meant one person had to stay on the bed while the other crawled to the sink or shower room. The room was so tiny that staying in it was a constant source of tension, the kind of tension that can ruin a vacation. It was so small, it was almost impossible to step into the room and move aside so you could close the door behind you. There is a similar problem maneuvering into the shower. So if you want to stay in this hotel definitely ask not to be put in room 214. It's torture. Management would do well to remove the bed, the nightstand, the chair (which cannot be used because it has to be crammed so close to the small bed), and the small table next to the chair that also cannot be used. Replace the furniture with tatami, futons and a couple of pads to sit on. Now, moving on from the agitation of being sentenced to Room 214, this hotel has a lot going for it. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The hotel and the Onomichi train station share the same building -- a brand new building -- so as soon as you step off the train, you're at your hotel. Also, the building is completely soundproof. You will not hear or feel trains rumbling by or any noise from the bus and car traffic from in front of the hotel. The rooms have cathedral ceilings, not just high ceilings but vaulted ceilings, which I'm sure would have felt luxurious had we not been stuck in Room 214. The rooms also have high windows that give you a lot of ambient light and, I'm sure, great views from some of the rooms. Before being pointed to your room, you are brought to an amenity counter and allowed to take as many packets of luxury face washes, night creams and other cosmetics as you desire. A N'espresso machine and coffee capsules await you in your room. Once again, this is a wonderfully charming and modern hotel in a wonderfully charming and funky city. We plan to return to Onomichi when it is not so hot -- and stay in this hotel. But we'll ask for a larger room.
We stayed two nights here, before and after cycling the Shimanami Kaido. The location could not be better. Arriving by train, the hotel is just across a pedestrian walkway, facing the inland sea. Most of the cycle rental places are along the waterfront or nearby. The short ferry trip to start the cycling is almost in front of the hotel. The Superior Queen room with view was comfortable with electric kettle, green tea & coffee drip bags. The view (from levels 5 & 6) was great. The rooms have a retro charm. Breakfast was included & offered western & Japanese options. Nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. The reception staff speak some English & they were happy to store our luggage while we cycled. There is a coin laundry & bike storage off the main reception area. Overall, very good value.
GGuest UserWe really enjoyed the hotel where we stayed for two nights in a twin room. Beds were great and the room was very quiet and there is a Lawsons next door which was very suitable for breakfast. Wifi was free and fast. The only negative is that the hotel is about two kilometres from the station and although there is a limited free shuttle it was a little far out of town. A shuttle on demand would negate this obstacle. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent.
FFlyer811526 I finished work in Okayama and I never went to Onomichi, so I stayed here as a place to stay. A few minutes walk from the station along the sea road, I was in the evening, so I shopped at Onomichi Ramen and convenience stores and checked in. The lobby is half floor. I used the point, so I think it is reasonable to have breakfast at 6000 yen. WIFI was displayed when I launched a personal computer, but I borrowed it at the cable front and connected it. It was the second night, so the most helpful thing was that the coin laundry was in the rooftop room. Washing machine 200 yen dryer 100 yen 30 minutes. Relax in the room and go to bed early. The next day, breakfast buffet, rice and miso soup are carried. I think it's okay with Japanese and Western side dishes. I left my luggage and went to Senko Ji Temple in the city or in the morning. I got a map at the tourist information office and asked for my luggage at the hotel, but I kept it with an exchange card. City swirl, eat lunch, pick up luggage again at the hotel, above all, it is easy to be close to the station. Others write, but the hotel building itself is old but clean and I think it is good because there are necessary amenities.
Nnanako1246It is a retro with a fragrance of Showa. But very convenient location to go anywhere. The station is within walking distance, and the rapeway is also nearby, and the food shop is satisfactory. Onomichi Ramen was next door, but unfortunately Friday was a regular day. When I checked out the next day, I saw a line before the opening. It is a business hotel, so it is small, but I was happy because there was a shelf that was easy to use. Also, there is a free smartphone, and I think it is a very generous service for foreigners. There was a free parking lot in the first order and it was saved for morning sightseeing because it was left until 11:00 in the morning. The staff was light 々, but it was kind to press the button of the slow elevator or lend me an umbrella when I saw it, and it was surprisingly pleasant. I thought I would like to work hard because there is no such hotel in 々 now.
