Stayed with travel support. One night with two meals. For dinner, choose a sashimi set meal or a tempura set meal, and choose the cheapest course where the room is left to you. Both the building and facilities are old and dilapidated. The room I was guided to was a Japanese-style room of 8 tatami mats, with a verandah and a front room of about 3 tatami mats. It is very comfortable except that the building is old with individual air conditioning, lighting with remote control, and a toilet with a warm water washing toilet seat. Too big for two people. The windows face the opposite direction of Sanbe, so you can see the setting sun beautifully. A system where employees lay out the futon while you eat. The hot spring facility is old and there is no partition in the washing area. The temperature of the water is high and the quality of the water is so acidic that my hands get so rough after bathing that I apply hand cream. It is not a hot spring facility where you can enjoy a relaxing bath. It seems that it was almost full due to travel support, and group guests seemed to have dinner in a large hall. We, individual guests, were led to a table with the room number indicated in the dining room, where the dishes were placed in advance. In order to handle the number of travel supporters who have increased at once with the staff who have been minimized due to the corona disaster, it is inevitable that the food is prepared in advance. Two women and one young man are moving vigorously. Well, it's unreasonable to expect a lot of food in such a facility, but I was satisfied with the dinner, which included warm dishes that looked good for the price. We used it as an inn after climbing Mt. Although it is comfortable, the buildings and facilities are aging, and there are no recreational facilities nearby. If you use it as a base for mountain climbing, Shimane Prefectural Sanbe Nature Museum Sahimer, or nearby hiking, it will be very useful.

During my one-week stay at Yunotsu Onsen, I stayed at Masuya Ryokan for the first five nights, and Nogawaya Ryokan, a long-established inn two doors down, for the final night. The reason why I didn't stay all six nights was because the final night was on a Saturday, and Masuya Ryokan's prices were set much higher (which is pretty normal), so I changed to Nogawaya Ryokan, which is a little more affordable. It's also fun to try different places. That's why I thought this detailed information might be helpful for those who are wondering which one to choose. (If you'd like, please also refer to the review of Masuya Ryokan.) [Room] I stayed in a Japanese-Western room called Kushijima, which was renovated in 2022. The room has been fully renovated while retaining the design of the Japanese-style rooms in traditional inns. There is a bedroom and a chair and table in the living room, which is very appreciated by the elderly. The shower room, toilet, and other water facilities are also sparkling clean. There is also a veranda space overlooking the charming hot spring town. After a bath, it was great to cool off on the veranda with a Tora-san beer. The inn as a whole is not barrier-free, but this room is and is the closest to the entrance. If you can slowly go up and down the stairs (Kushijima is on the second floor), you will have no problem staying here comfortably. [Amenities] I really liked the fact that there were no excessive amenities, only simple ones. The hot spring towels also had a logo on them, which is great for hot spring lovers (by the way, the ones at Masuya Ryokan didn't have a logo, which was a shame). The fabric and color of the haori coat were very elegant, and it was of better quality than the ones at Masuya Ryokan (← a bit unfashionable), so I really liked it. [Food] Dinner was served in the room, and was an orthodox ”ryokan menu,” but it was very delicious. It was as delicious as the ”Masuya Ryokan,” which has a reputation for being the best in Yunotsu. We had breakfast in the large hall. The breakfast was a combination of traditional and local cuisine, but to be honest, Masuya Ryokan was the winner. [Bath] There were some negative comments in past reviews about the small baths, but there is a reason for this. Yunotsu Onsen has two hot springs, both of which are famous for their excellent spring quality, but the amount of water is small, so the inns in the hot spring town carefully share it and draw it. Therefore, in order to have a bath that is 100% source water, they have no choice but to make the bath small. They do not do the sneaky thing of adding water to the source to increase the amount of water, heat it, and put it in a large bath, as is often done in other hot spring areas. In addition, at Nogawaya Ryokan, the water is drained from each bath once a day, cleaned, and refilled with new water. So the small baths are not a negative thing at all. By the way, there is one private bath, which I think is easy to use for people who need assistance or those with children. [Hospitality] Both the owner and the proprietress are very kind. They kindly accepted my early check-in, and also arranged for me to use the private bath as soon as the water was filled, arranged for me to get some ”Tora-san beer” which was sold in limited quantities and was in short supply, and even showed me around the neighborhood in a shuttle to the station. [Yunotsu Kagura] I stayed on a Saturday, so I was able to see Yunotsu Kagura after dinner at the inn. Ryugozen Shrine, where Yunotsu Kagura is dedicated, is a 30-second walk from the inn. Yunotsu Kagura was a powerful and wonderful local performing art. You can make a reservation for Kagura directly with the Yunotsu Onsen Ryokan Association, or you can request it from the inn where you are staying. By the way, the seats that are easy to see and comfortable to sit on are ”20-22”. For details, please click on the link from the ”Yunotsu Meguri” website. Yunotsu Kagura is basically only dedicated on Saturdays, so it is recommended to stay on Saturdays, but since there are many other things to see in Yunotsu, I strongly recommend staying for multiple nights. [Location] The inn is located in a beautiful townscape that has been designated a World Heritage Site, about a 15-minute walk from JR Yunotsu Station. They also provide transportation to and from the station. The hot spring town is small, so outdoor baths and restaurants are within 5 minutes of the inn. It's also fun to stroll around the hot spring town in a yukata. [Access] The nearest station is JR Yunotsu Station on the Sanin Main Line, which has few trains. It is a remote area far from all the major surrounding points, including Izumo Airport, Iwami Airport, Okayama Station, Hiroshima Station, and Yamaguchi Station. However, it is an inn located in a very beautiful hot spring town that maintains silence and dignity. This inn is highly recommended for those who want to quietly enjoy the good old Japanese hot springs.

It is my pleasure to add another praise to the Ryokan. They claimed not to speak English but in fact they did, even had somebody speaking it fluently : he became our “friend” ! As we travelled by public transport they came to pick us up at the station and dropped us when we continued our trip. On our second day we took a bus to the Silver Mine and walked back, and as it started raining half way we were soaking wet upon arrival. We were welcomed with towels and our shoes and coats taken away to dry. We got them back next morning, the shoes comfy dry and still warm. Thank you so much

Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine

Ffyqj1234All the way from Hiroshima to the cloud, I didn't expect to go to Shijian Yinshan, but I couldn't bear to advertise too much on the road sign. Finally, I saw that the intersection still didn't hold back, so I turned in. It is not so much Yinshan, but rather an exposition hall, there are still a lot of distances from the real Yinshan pit road. You can enter the tour by buying tickets, mainly to introduce the history and causes of Shijian Yinshan, and the mining situation over the years. You can also experience the production process of a gray blowing method. The exhibition is very heart-warming. There is basically no one here to visit the road. Ishimi Yinshan is an important silver mine in Japan, and Jinshan can be compared with Zodo, which is household in Japan, and silver is Japan's main export product, of course, the destination is obvious. The Maori family occupying this place is also inseparable from minerals, especially after the invention of the ash blowing method, the silver production increased significantly, ensuring the economic development of the Edo Shofu. The pit road in Yinshan is several kilometers long, and it has been dug into several different layers. It is very intimate to make a model here. The overall feeling is still very useful here. It is a worthwhile trip.

Mt. Sanbe

MM32***23Autumn leaves 🍁 were very sunny, so I went there briefly. I saw a place on Trip.com , due to the typhoon, I could take the water off my shoes and enter the river, but when I went there, there was a simple bridge to pull the water. Even so, there are still places where there is a lot of water in tributaries. The first half was like an adventure. I was disappointed that I couldn't leave unless I had the right equipment. In the second half I felt like I was on a trolley, the fall leaves and the water flow were beautiful and I was soothed. Next time I want to visit in the fresh green season.

Iwami Ginzan World Heritage Center

Ffyqj1234Originally, I didn't plan to come to Shijian Yinshan at all. Although this attraction is on the way to Hiroshima to the cloud, I finally couldn't bear to get various advertisements along the way. I always felt that this could not be said once, and finally I didn't hold back and turned in directly. This is actually a Yinshan exhibition hall, there is still a lot of distance from Yinshan pit road, there is another attraction. From the main entrance, you can enter the tour by buying tickets. The ticket fee is not cheap. It is mainly to introduce the history of Shijian Yinshan, the mining situation over the years and various science and experience. As a person who is still familiar with this piece of history, it doesn't matter. Although the exhibition is very heart-warming, it always feels like a sense of sight of village attractions. In general, although it is unexpected, it is not too wasteful. If you have time, you can really come and see the promotion of this piece. This is also an unexpected gain in the trip.
