This hotel is located deep in the mountains. Its name is ”Forest Hotel”. It is three kilometers away from the bottom of the mountain. There are few restaurants nearby, and almost none are open at night. The hotel's own restaurant only offers sukiyaki set meals for reservations, and meals cannot be served without reservations. Later, I found a Chinese restaurant ”Kitaro” eight kilometers away from the hotel. The diligent owner was open almost every day and served food until ten o'clock in the evening. I really need this dining advice when staying at this hotel. The nearby attractions of this hotel are very good. In addition to the historical streets, I recommend the ”Sleeping Bed” and ”Asa Valley”. In terms of natural beauty, it is irreplaceable, but it is a bit primitive. I highly recommend it. Wear sneakers to climb. The hotel itself has a large bath, but it is actually just a large bath and does not have sauna-style equipment. It's not a new hotel, but it's well maintained. All the equipment doesn't look shabby. The rooms are big and it's quite comfortable to stay.
⭐️ Hot Spring
There were two hot springs and medicinal hot springs, which was very good. There is also a private bath, and I took it four times.
⭐️ Food
The amount was just right and I enjoyed Kiso's delicious local dishes. I was very satisfied with the comparison of sake.
⭐️ Starry Sky Tour
I participated in the starry sky tour for free. It was a valuable experience to explain.
⭐️ Room
It was well cleaned and not new, but it was easy to spend. There was also a humidifier in the room, which was a good facility.
⭐️ Hospitality
Everyone was very kind. There was also a transfer between the station and the inn.
Our homely guest house is located in Kaida Plateau at the foot of Mt. Ontake. We are excited to support your travels

The traditional ryokan was very charming and perfectly alluring. The decor of traditional artifacts of the Edo period gave a pleasant insights to a former opulence. The inside and outside onsens were clean with a clear zen and ambiance. How I love the traditional kimono-styled house clothes offering a comfortable restorative relaxing dress code.
Decided to stay here as part of my Nakasendo hike. Nice, clean hotel. The dinner was amazing, and breakfast buffet is free for all guests. No private showers, but that's okay in Japan. It's quite a walk from the station however, about 10-15mins.
The hotel is very good, the service is first-class, there is a Wuhan young man as a waiter, speaking Chinese is very kind, the environment is good, you can overlook the snowy mountains in the distance 🏔️

The staff really went above and beyond to make two ignorant Canadian tourists feel extremely welcome at a traditional Japanese Ryuken. Though there was a small language barrier, we never felt that we could not communicate our needs. The hot and cold onsen was very refreshing after walking post towns along the Nakasendo Way. The river next to the hotel made for a relaxing experience and deep sleep. Somehow, I missed the option when booking to select the dinner option, there is really no other food options in the area, and the clerk (owner) said he would put a 'simple meal' together for us for a small charge which we found acceptable. The kaiseki that followed was some of the best and most authentic Japanese food we experienced in our two weeks in Japan. The woman serving us was an absolute gem and the cat that ran the establishment was adorable. Our room was very comfortable and had a nice sitting area with a view of the river.
Only points of contention would be that that it's a little out of the way if you don't have a car, but is conveniently accessable by bus with ~10 minute walk. The facilities are a little dated, the onsen is discoloured, but I assume that is from the natural minerals. There was a stale smell (smoke) in the rooms which is a bit off-putting to non-smokers. It would appear smoking is allowed in the facility which might be a plus to some.
Small quaint Ryokan run by a family. Share Toilet & Bath but if you can get the room nearby is ok. Simple place.
Outside environment is nice with river, pond & great view of the mountain.
