Find the Best Fertilia Hotels

We visited Hotel del Pini beginning of June 2024 with my husband and 2.5 year old daughter. The hotel exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend the superior sea view room for anyone traveling with a toddler! Pros: + Location!! Hotel is perfectly situated 15-20m outside of Alghero, close to many restaurants and close to travel to nearby sights and wineries + So easy for families - We had room number 5 (Superior sea view) and it could not be more perfect. Steps away from the beach and convenience of the entire hotel. + Beautiful, breathtaking views through out the hotel, the lobby, breakfast area, pool, our room.. amazing + every single staff member was absolutely lovely, kind and hospitable + the hotel was extremely clean, every detail taken care of + the lifeguards/beach staff took great care of the beach which was cleaned everyday and kept tidy - we were especially grateful for the beach toys available for kids on the beach + there was a little playground for kids which our daughter enjoyed + breakfast was local and delicious (great assortment of freshly baked pastries), barista available to make coffee Cons: Really can’t complain I think it’s a superb hotel for 4 stars. If I really had to be picky: - I wish the beds/linens were a bit more comfortable but can’t complain - the prices of the hotel bar and restaurant are a bit steep (€11 for an Aperol Sprits upstairs, €9 at the beach bar) Since this was early June it was still before the high season, hope the hotel keeps this quality through out. This hotel is hugely overrated and the pictures are deceiving. The hotel is rated 4 stars but in my opinion, does not meet this standard. The general impression is 'meh', which means that there is nothing special or of character in this hotel. First landing on the terrace overlooking the sea (a moment of great expectations!) and you immediately notice a strong unpleasant smell. Not sure if this was due to algae in the water, but as another reviewer before me has mentioned the same thing, I wonder if this is something else and rather more permanent. The unpleasant lingering smell in the room was the next disheartening moment on our introduction tour. Almost certainly this was due to mould in the unventilated bathroom. Mould was evident all around the shower screen. The beach - another big promise in pictures, is not that privet nor secluded. What the pictures don't show you is the tired outskirts of Fertilia, the neighbouring town and next-door block of flats, immediately adjacent to the hotel's beach. Anyone can visit this beach which is really not a problem as itself, not for me anyway, but please don't advertise false information. Finally, the breakfast was very poor. Seemingly a wide selection, but that's because they spread it over miles of tables and a very large empty, characterless room. The menu is a selection of not too appetising bits and bobs. Exceptions are the vast selection of cakes which are good if you like a few different ones for breakfast. The rest was presented in a rather lazy way, and very very basic. The very understaffed breakfast team was rushed off their feet, disorganised and argued loudly across the room. I compare it to the hotel we stayed in before Punta Negra, also 4 stars, and the difference in quality of service and food is stark. On the positive side - The pools are nice. The gardens are very well maintained. It's hard to put a finger on what it was, the dead atmosphere, the smell, the lack of spark or effort overall but the place was just not that comfortable, clean, or exciting in any way. With the money you pay, you can certainly do much better elsewhere.

We have just come back from a week here. The room and all hotels area were always clean. The rooms are basic but are quite spacious. After one bad night due to the mattress I put a blanket down on the bed and the next day the housekeeper had put a mattress topper on the bed for us. It is located near bus stop into Alghero and the beach bus to beaches up the coast. All the staff were really friendly and most of them spoke english. My husband has coeliac disease, each morning at breakfast he was given a basket with gluten free cereal, bread, biscuits and offered croissants which were heated in the oven. At dinner the staff showed him what he could have and then gave him the option of having fresh gluten free pasta cooked so he could have the pasta dish. They also cooked meat separately if the sauce wasn't gluten free. We want to say a special thank you to Roberta and all the staff in the restaurant and kitchen for looking after him so well. We really appreciated the time Roberta spent with him each evening and translating to the other staff. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and returning if we can.

I’d stayed in the Rina apartments, next door to the hotel, almost 14 years ago now and knew just how handy the hotel was for the beaches and it’s proximity to the old down too - a pleasant seaside walk in the evening or a short scooter ride if like me you hired a lil Piaggo. Actually with that in mind, you can make good use of the hotel’s underground parking facility as not extra charge, but i digress. You’ll see some reviews moaning about expectations of a 4 star hotel, but do keep in mind Alghero isn’t Dubai so it’s never going to be razzle dazzle. You can expect however, a very warm welcome, especially convivial staff, spotless rooms cleaned daily with a full suits of new towels, a good international mix of guests, quiet by night, and a good choice at breakfast time too if you’re not sleeping off the last nights booze and miss it. Breakfast stops at 10am. I don’t do full board. There is way to much excellent food to be had around town to be tied to one place - be sure to try Refetorrio and their sister pizza restaurant, Bella Napoli on Piazza Civica and Regina Margarita at least once. The hotel is perfectly situated next to well stocked super market, there paddle tennis opposite and a host of beach clubs, bars and restaurants on your door step. If a hire car or scooter is not your thing there’s a great bus service to beaches further afield, mugoni beach is lovely with good grill/fast food and more formal dining (you can still rock up in beach wear) options too. The hotel can also call a cab but get a price first €20 to the airport seemed expensive. So, helpful, pleasant, cheery staff with great english. Clean, airy rooms. Handy for everything. Nice end of corridor balcony with good views for this without a balcony of their own to sit and enjoy a cool ale. I’d book again. A dopo, DSM
