Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was perfect. Check in was a breeze..we just went up to the gentleman at the desk, gave him our name, and he handed us the key to our room. It took, maybe, three minutes. He also confirmed our dinner reservations for the evening. In the lobby (which was more like a grand hall), they had a lovely array of complimentary coffee, teas, and pastries...all served with beautiful bone china. The castle is absolutely stunning both inside and out. The interiors are grand, and the grounds are just beautiful. We spent several hours walking around the park-like setting, and had drinks on the terrace overlooking the garden. Fantastic. We also walked through every inch of the interior's public rooms...don't miss the church! The entrance to our room was tucked away under a staircase. When I first saw it I thought, ”Oh no, this room is going to be the size of a closet”. When we went in we were taken aback. It was massive, with a very comfortable bed, sitting area, bathroom and a huge jetted tub. And it was clean as a pin, too. Dinner in the castle's opulent Dining Room was exemplary. Service was friendly and good-humored, and the food was very, very good. My wife had the salmon and I had the beef; both were perfect. We did the 3 course meal for 65 euros each, and feel it was worth every penny. Breakfast the next morning was just as good. It was also in the Dining Room, and was included in the rate we paid. Hot food was ordered off the menu, and cool food (cereals, fruit, cold meats, etc.) were offered buffet style. One last thing: as opulent, grand, and over-the-top as Markree Castle is, the one thing it wasn't was pretentious. You don't have to break out your tux, or sequined cocktail dress; as long as you don't look like you just rolled out of bed, you should be fine. At dinner I wore a white dress shirt and a nice pair of green jeans; I felt perfectly comfortable. Out of the 12 nights we spent in Ireland, this was our favorite we stayed. It's more than just a bed to put your head on; it's an experience, and an amazing one at that.
Travelled for a wedding and couldn’t compliment the place enough. At every turn the staff on reception went above and beyond, especially Ariel. One thing I will say is the bar in the ballroom seemed to be understaffed, but I had spoken with Ben in the residents bar the day before as that was the only place we could get cocktails and he assured us he would take care of us. I’m so glad I got talking to him as through the entire evening he was present to give us excellent drinks and even better conversation about the history of the area and where in Sligo town to go for a good night out!! The room was beautiful, with a view over the hotel entrance and a fabulously comfortable bed. We didn’t make it to breakfast but the lunchtime staff the next day were really helpful. Planning on booking another stay just for myself and my partner to explore Sligo and looking forward to receiving the same top-class service again!!
The service was really good they were so helpful and upgraded our room free of charge which came with added touches such as robes and chocolates. The jacuzzi and pool was very enjoyable and bar food was so good. Would definitly stay again. Will recommend to friends and family.

Great hotel, there is a river under the room, good breakfast, good hygiene, friendly front desk service, very good, good location, there are many delicious food nearby, I will choose to book next time
We recently went to Address for a few drinks with friends. We absolutely loved the place. The decor was great and they had a great selection of drinks (Cocktails are nice and strong too). We were seated in a snug area in the bar which is perfect for groups and parties. I plan of having some birthday drinks there in the new year. Thank you to Sarah who greeted us at the door and made sure we were looked after the entire time. She had great advice on where to go after our drinks and recommendations for places to eat also. Thank you, we will be back!!
Have just come back from an absolutly lovely weekend away in Silgo. People are giving out about staycation prices but I think that this hotel is worth the few euro extra. We had a lovely welcome from David at reception and throughout the 2 short days we were there the staff were brilliant. The room was lovely, clean and had a fab view from the balcony. I was slightly concerned about the bar next door but as soon as the balcony door was closed just silence. We chose to go to the Dunes bar up the road(slightly cheaper pricing on food) even though it does not open until 5 it is worth the wait the food is lovely and staff are welcoming and chilled. We took a stroll 'down town' as we were blessed with the weather. There is not much going on but that suited us..take a stroll along the beach or have a sea**** bath at Voya.. I would highly recommend this place if you looking for a real R&R experience..there are lots of walking trails for those feeling a bit more active . Will definitely be back again. Thanks to all the staff at this hotel for a super stay 😁
I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was beautiful, and the staff were so accomadating. They were able to cater for my food intolerances which was amazing. My only critic is the chips I ordered for my dinner, some of them weren't fully cooked and no one came to check everything was OK but other than that. I would stay there again.
