Find the Cheap Elmina Hotels

I visited Royal Elmount Hotel and had a great time. I initially had a slight issue when checking in, however this was quickly resolved by the GM Mr. Shadrack who was fantastic in ensuring I had a great stay, The hotel is set on a hill which makes it great for views. They have a lot more planned for the land which is huge! The rooms are large and clean and the food is really nice! I would definitely recommend staying here when visiting Elmina.

This hotel is on a hill outside of Elmina and overlooking the town. It also looks out onto some salt pans. The rooms are large and comfortable. We were the only guests one of the days we were there, so there were limited breakfast options. The dinner food was good and plentiful and the service was excellent. It is distant from the town so there is nowhere to walk from there. Unless you have your own car, you must eat there, but that is not a problem.

We attended this venue for lunch on the way from Elmina Castle. Firstly, this was located in a beautiful space right on the beach. However, that's where it stopped. We placed our meal order and it took forever for the food to arrive. When it did it was only one dish. It was another 10 minutes at least before the second plate arrived. We lost track of time before the final set of dishes arrived. One of the party had ordered Jollof Rice. It was another ten minutes after everyone had received their meals before a waitress arrived with fried rice saying that they had run out of Jollof. That in itself was not an issue, the problem was this was not conveyed to us before they arrived with the fried rice. An order is an order and if they were unable to fulfill the order then we should have been notified and given the choice to request an alternative and not have the decision made for us. Secondly, where we were sitting they had table tennis which people were using. I couldn't understand why it was thought to be appropriate to have people smacking a ball in front of people who are eating. I was hit with the ball twice and I was not happy about this especially as the person who had hit me thought it was hilarious. As I was leaving I went to use the toilet which was locked. At this point I thought there was only one toilet. After waiting for a considerable time I rattled the door only for it to be opened and it was evident from the three people standing there that it was being used as a changing room. The toilets were very unpleasant, wet and in need of a good clean, probably not helped by the fact that it was being used by people who had been swimming. It was such a shame as this is a lovely venue and the view is gorgeous. However, staffing is an issue as the wait for food and the bill was just too long. They need to notify guests if a dish is not available and the table tennis needs to be located elsewhere.

We stayed in one of the free-standing villas. The villas are on a well-manicured ground adjacent to the main hotel. Our room had nice furniture, was comfortably laid out, and was a nice size for a family. However, the air conditioning was weak and the room was visibly dirty, with lizard poop in several spots around the room. The hotel is large and has more services and amenities than other options in the Cape Coast area. It is a convenient base for trips to Cape Coast Castle, Kakum National Park, and other attractions, but it is not on the coast and the views and are nothing spectacular. The restaurant is disappointing, with a basic menu (pizza, hamburger, club sandwich, etc.), slow service, and low quality. The pool is a bit better, but doesn't compare to the pools of hotels at similar price points. Service was poor; I felt like I was bothering hotel employees when I requested services or asked questions. Few employees wore masks. Sometimes employees didn't know the answers to basic questions (i.e. the restaurant couldn't say what was on the menu).
