We had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.
Beautiful atmospheric hotel with beautiful entrance, spacious bedroom modern classic bathroom, only the food is expensive and nothing special also breakfast was meager. But for the rest is ok
The hotel is right in front of the cathedral, the location is very central, and Diagon Alley is also within walking distance, which is not convenient for parking. 7.8 minutes after walking the street one night behind the parking lot is okay, parking during the day is very expensive.
Welcome to us is a very old-fashioned British gentleman, introduced the room for 10 minutes, and encountered the butler-style service for the first time.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel the staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. The bunker room made for a unique and comfortable stay and loved the little touches like the KitKats in the room on arrival. The only small complaint would be the shower head sprayed out, the whole bathroom floor to become soaked, but nothing major at all. We’ll definitely be back and recommending to to anyone staying in York.
Great experience. The front desk staff was very kind and thoughtful and also upgraded the room for us for free. The facilities in the room are very complete and comfortable, the breakfast quality is high, and the hotel needs 15-20 minutes to get off the city.
The house is comfortable, close to the train station, not noisy, and convenient for travel. There are restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The house is not too small. The shower-type water outlet is an ancient device, so if you don't want to get your hair wet, you must take a shower. Shower cap, and the store has breakfast, the price is reasonable, there are many varieties, and the food is fresh, it is a good choice.
A small villa, the room is clean and tidy, very warm and quiet, the service is very good and warm, we live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, the suitcase is the store to help get the room, parking is also convenient. The environment of Zhou is good, and it is convenient to travel. It takes 20 minutes to walk along the river to see the tourist attractions in the downtown area. Only breakfast is very expensive. Two nights a day is a pleasant experience.
The location is very convenient, with York City Walls just outside. Butcher Street and the Cathedral are basically a 10-minute walk away.
It's on the street but not noisy, you can see the street view, which is quite unique.
The staff are super warm and friendly!
The room is clean and tidy.
But the kitchen doesn't have basic things like salt, pepper and oil. Basically, we had them in our previous B&Bs in the UK, so it was a bit embarrassing that we didn't bring them here. . .
In addition, the bed is really small, both single and double. I really don't understand why so many beds in the UK are this small. . . And the single bed will make noise when you turn over at night.

Outstanding
ZZZ9900The Grand Hotel boasts an excellent location, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. The facilities are top-notch, offering a blend of luxury and comfort that one would expect from a prestigious establishment.
However, the service fell short of expectations, especially considering its five-star rating. While it may be due to the busy tourist season, the level of service provided was inconsistent. In particular, the doormen and porters left a lot to be desired, with some interactions being notably poor. This detracted significantly from the overall experience, as such issues are not expected at a hotel of this caliber.
Overall, while the hotel's amenities and location are commendable, the service quality needs improvement to truly match the standards of a five-star hotel.
AAizuomengdemiaoxingjiangThe hotel is very cozy, the room and bed are very comfortable, and the breakfast is rich. Especially recommended here in York, very close to many attractions. There are many restaurants and cafes around.
GGuest UserGreat location and has parking that is a bonus. Room was well appointed. Only gripe is no water in the room and cleanliness not the greatest. Has a skylight above the bed that was full of cobwebs Apart from that team very bubbly and would stay again
GGuest UserMy daughter and I stayed in a twin room for a night while we visited York University. The Hotel staff were warm and welcoming. They were kind and helpful and more than happy to let us leave our luggage there as we were too early for check in. The main lobby area is just like it looks in the photos. There is comfortable seating, a bar and a place to get food. The rooms are clean, comfortable and feel new. The whole place felt modern and fresh. It was a 15minute taxi ride from the station and a 5/6 minute walk to The Shambles area in York where there are loads of restaurants and cafes. I literally have nothing bad to say about it. We will be back to stay again hopefully in September.
IISARIWe had a comfortable stay with a spacious room and great amenities. However, there was a party in the lobby during our stay that made the area quite crowded and noisy. Despite that, we still had a good experience overall and would recommend it for families.
BBryn JacksonStayed here for 1 night to watch a show at the Barbican, the hotel overall is great showing some signs of wear and tear but you can see this is being worked on. All main communal area looked great and well presented. We stayed in a basic double but there was more than adequate room for our stay and the cleanliness in the room was great. Bathroom again was small but very clean and usable with an amazing rain shower. Reception staff, housekeepers and Measure facilities staff were all very pleasant and wanting to give a good experience.
The only area that I believe needs improvement sooner rather than later is the stair carpet from the car park into reception which doe not give the best impression of what you are going to find inside as it appears very dirty and worn.
Would highly recommend, once past reception steps you will find the Milner Hotel fantastic
GGuest UserThe staff are nice and friendly.
There is car park at the back of the hotel. It was a nice and convenient location. We stay on the ground floor, only a few steps up, from the reception.
It was very great, we don’t need prepare the sofa bed, they had done before our arrival.
Only the cleanliness is a bit not up to standard. There is nail polish left on the desk and plastic clip on the floor.
It is nice to provide tooth brushes and razors. However, no slippers can be provided, which is the only thing we had forgotten.
The body and hand wash are locked, it was empty in the shower, we needed to call for refill. If we can move the one from the basin, then we don’t need to bother the staff.
The worst is no sound proof at all. You can hear someone outside in the corridor and even next door. We can hear next door’s conversation clearly.
DDeborah HambleyFabulous location.Right next to river. Plenty of eating places & small supermarkets nearby. Super helpful friendly staff day & night. Adequate facilities for disabled guests. Beds & pillows super comfy. Cooked breakfast buffet ample & delicious. Really enjoyed my stay & the help I received. Thank you.
MMonica RadjiwanVery recommended hotel for family traveler. A bit far from the city, but convenient if you’re using private car. Breakfast was good. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Feels like home. Definitely will stay here again if we’re coming to York.
XXingxingzouzoudexiaoyuerFacilities: The room is relatively large, the bed and pillows are quite comfortable
Service: Hotel staff are friendly
Environment: The hotel is located on a large green area, which is very eye-catching.
Hygiene: very good. Neat and clean.
special service:
1. The hotel provides free parking, which is a service that few hotels in the UK can provide, and parking is usually paid for. so nice 👍
2. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, which is convenient for guests.
