As one of the oldest inns in the world, The Olde Bell, BW Signature Collection is a unique venue that has captured the essence of English hospitality and complimented it with chic tableware, divine textiles, and simple understated luxury. From the London glitterati to meandering souls that crave a classic countrywide retreat, guests can be assured of a sublimely chic experience whether they choose to eat, drink, host, or sleep at our medieval inn. The Olde Belle is a glorious contrast of simple neutral tones, vintage Ercol chairs, and solid oak tables – with certain parts dating back to 1135. The charming interior is a celebration of times gone by, with the greatest of attention paid to the smallest of details.Arranged over five buildings, guests will be treated to a wide range of choices when it comes to accommodation. Larger parties will be seduced by the beauty of the Malt house while couples or lone travelers can enjoy the minimalist character of classic, deluxe, or luxury rooms.Serving produce from the inn’s own kitchen garden, the award-winning restaurant is a sanctuary for foodies with a commitment to honest, locally sourced food. The neutral warmth of the dining room is brought alive by fascinating trinkets and wonderful soft Welsh woolen blankets making it a haven for weary travelers in need of some respite. With warmer weather comes the opportunity to laze in the stunning meadow gardens which come alive in the summer in a heady waft of lavender. With an enormous kamado oven and rotisserie in the main gardens, al fresco dining has become somewhat of an art at The Olde Bell – delivering outrageously tasty dishes to guests in the classic setting of its charming English garden.Located only 40 minutes from London and within a few minutes walk of the Thames, the Olde Bell is an utterly unique destination that will capture the heart of its guests – be it as a romantic getaway, an exceptional wedding venue, or a unique location for a conference.
From the moment we arrived at Danesfield House, we were treated extremely well. All of the staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us, even carrying our luggage to our room.
Our room had a beautiful view over the river Thames and hotel gardens and the four poster bed was lovely and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and clean and their were plenty of towels and toiletries.
I had booked a treatment in the Spa for my wife and all of the staff were amazing. The Spa itself was very nice, and although the jacuzzi was out of action, this did not spoil the experience at all.
Finally, our breakfast was wonderful. We were greeted and shown to our seats immediately. Our order was taken for our choice of breakfast by a lovely waitress and coffee and toast was brought to us by an absolutely wonderful waiter who had the biggest smile that never left his face the entire time we were in the restaurant. He was extremely polite and just made you smile with his infectious enthusiasm for the ”fabulous filter coffee” and the ”terrific toast” (his words, not mine) that he served us. I just wish I had his name to include with this review as he deserves a special mention.
Overall it was a fantastic experience and the right choice of hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. We will definitely be coming back.

Our trip here for dinner started badly and went downhill from there. Despite booking dinner months in advance, paying a deposit and providing meal choices, upon arrival to the restaurant, we were told it was not open yet. When I confirmed we had a booking for that time, they allowed us in, but were still setting the tables. This meant that the previously requested champagne on the table when we arrived didn’t happen. We then waited around 20 minutes for the table to be set and a drinks order be taken. When the food started to arrive, despite informing them of an allergy, the dish came out without the nuts removed. Considering this was the starter for whom the whole dinner was for, it wasn’t a great impression. We then had to wait an unnecessary amount of time for starters to be cleared and mains to arrive. By which point I had to make a complaint to the manager who merely offered a free bottle of champagne. Overall the service was terrible and very slow. Finally, to top it off, we weren’t informed about registering our vehicles and all received fines for parking on site during the meal, which we had to appeal. If you’re thinking about going for a meal here, my recommendation would be to find somewhere else!
Always a warm welcome - special thanks to Beth. Rooms are fab - beds super comfy and all spotlessly clean. Breakfast options are amazing - and service delightful. The chicken liver pate is the best I have ever tasted - and I have tasted zillions. Well done to the chef for flavour, texture and presentation. We come to stay regularly even though I live in Maidenhead! All highly recommended - not to be missed!!!

A suitable location for the family to get together. The rooms were comfortable and recently renovated. We ate in restaurant and the food was tasty and the menu varied. The spa was popular with everyone in our group. The grounds and lake are beautiful. The most important thing we believe was the fantastic staff, particularly the reception team but all the way throughout the hotel. IHG should be proud of their team there.
