The booking email gives you the code to enter the area with the rooms and your own room but it doesn’t tell you that you need to press a star after you entered the code so it took us a while to work it out and to enter. The car park was full when we arrived and we needed to charge our car but another car was parked in the space for electric vehicles. It was owned by one of the employers so we had to ask him to move it. When we entered room number 2, it was FREEZING! The window had been left open and even when we closed it, the glass was so thin that it felt like it was still open. One of the panels of the blind was broken and hanging. We had to hang a blanket over the blind to block the cold air coming in. With a small radiator in the room, candles we brought from home and a hot shower on, eventually the room warmed up. The water pressure in the shower is very weak so it took me a while to wash my hair to get ready for the evening. We went downstairs for dinner and they were short of staff so it took ages before someone took our order. The food was not great. Chips were fried in old oil and the burger tasted very raw. The Camembert cheese was not melted properly. The breakfast in the morning was not too bad but the one piece of toast they serve was very hard. Again, short of staff in the morning. The coffee machine was not working properly and we had to turn it on and off to get a cup of coffee. The staff are lovely and they are trying their best…
This is an old couple who runs a hotel located on the hill. They are very kind and treat people very well, especially the breakfast, which is great. Looking at the scenery outside the window, they are enjoying an authentic English breakfast and black tea. . Very good choice in this small town, I will definitely come again next time!
Couldn't have found a lovelier place! Room (Spencer Room) was excellent - bed comfortable and room nice size, bathroom clean, well appointed, and water hot, décor was lovely, kettle with tea and coffee. The community kitchen was excellent - if staying for a few days, it has all you could want to serve yourself. The owner had left provisions for breakfast (including ground coffee and French Press coffee maker - wonderful!!) even though that was not included in the booking. The owner greeted us remotely as we arrived and arranged to meet us later. He was friendly and a good resource of how to tour the castle and places to eat. The location is great - close to restaurants and very near the Castle. This place was way beyond our expectations. Thank you Alex!

Hubert House was great. We were 2 adults and 2 kids in one room. There was ample space. The room had a couch, chair, fridge and desk area. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water. The woman managing the house, Farrah, is amazing. We payed for laundry service, dropped off our clothes and left for the day. When we came back, she had all of our things cleaned and sorted. We came in late drenched from the rain. She handed us another bag for wet clothes and then washed and dried those. She left us snacks and breakfast since we were packing out the next day. It was one of my favorite stops in England.
Excellent Father's Day meal, great food, drink and lovely staff. So clean, professional and well organised. I would highly recommend as was suitable and inclusive for a wheelchair user. I was absolutely impressed and had an extremely great time.
All the staff are really good, from check in, bar staff and those in Wheelers. We had asked for a room with a bath, and although originally the guy on reception was not sure, whenwe got in the room we did have one. Maybe we should have been told about the scafolding outside the window? Dinner was great. We had not booked breakfast, but since dinner had been so nice we decided to have breakfast. When we got there wew were told that they were so fully booked, but they took us into Wheelers. The small breakfast was superb, and my wife enjoyed her breakfast and latte, what a result that was. Only slight negative about the whole stay was that some glasses and used plates remained outside the rooms, adjacent to our room, but other than that this hotel is really good.
I have been there several times because I like this small town and there is an undeveloped garden with a bucket for cigarettes.. the rooms are pleasant. The big problem is that there are three showers/toilets for around 8 rooms and they are not cleaned every day. The hotel is frequented by men a lot and so I didn't feel comfortable at all, especially since their behavior was borderline. The cleaning is average like most budget accommodation but the bedding is clean. So if you have the misfortune of asking something or complaining, the boss politely suggests that you look elsewhere because he has hundreds of happy customers (the good joke) and he is a manager and not a hotelier. Otherwise it's well heated and if you go don't forget to send them by email proof of your identity and that you live somewhere other than their home 😂

What travellers say about Dover attractions

White Cliffs of Dover
EElektraThe White Cliffs of Dover are one of England’s most famous natural landmarks, standing as a majestic symbol of hope and resilience. These dramatic chalk cliffs, rising up to 350 feet, overlook the narrowest part of the English Channel, a natural barrier just 21 miles wide that separates the United Kingdom from mainland Europe. The cliffs get their brilliant white color from the chalk that forms them, made up of the remains of tiny sea creatures that settled on the seabed around 70 million years
Dover Castle
大大卫JuThe bunker at Dover Castle is the command post of Dunkirk's Great Retreat and the accompanying hospital. The view from the castle is excellent, you can see the sea, the city, the castle green space, there are not so many people, at least there is a lack of commercial facilities.
Dover Beach
MM43***62We had a lovely walk alongside Dover beach ...wide paths and lots of seating available. We got lunch from one of the little kiosks which was delicious... it was great to sit in the sun watching the boats coming in and out ...we enjoyed.
