It was disappointing that our room contained zero information about the history of the hotel, or any information about the hotel at all. In fact, there is no information about the hotel in the public areas. Very odd because a good number of guests, like us, must come because of the history of the building. The management could take a leaf from the Telegraph Hotel in Coventry. Worst however was that there was no hot water in our room (237). We were told by reception to let the water run for 15 minutes! This only produced warm water and is incredibly wasteful for the environment. Worst of all was the black mould all round the bath. Really unforgivable. The jacuzzi bath was a bit odd in the context of a Victorian hotel. A proper shower and hot water should be the priority. In summary, having been looking forward to our stay, the Coal Exchange was a big disappointment.

Stayed in Novotel over weekend for our daughter's wedding in East One suite and the Warehouse. From the moment we checked in until the time we left it was an absolutely fantastic experience. All the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly, they were so welcoming and friendly and always very polite and smiling :) Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and all were very helpful. Thanks to Justin, Lit, Lily and Sabina for making breakfast time so easy, the breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. The wedding breakfast on the day was absolutely delicious and so well presented, and the evening buffet was delicious and plentiful. Again, all the bar staff were so friendly and pleasant; it really was a pleasure going to the bar! :) Our room was clean and tidy, and cleaned every day. Hotel is convenient for city centre. The staff are definitely a credit to this hotel and make it what it is. Thanks to all the team for making our stay such a pleasant one. Would definitely stay at the Novotel again.

Disastrous first booking with trip.com! Travelled with my Daughter and her friend, arrived only to be told there was only a king size bed, room too small for the 3 of us. On booking, the search engine was defaulted to 2 adults, so this was amended accordingly. Thankfully there was a spare room.to accommodate at an additional cost of £30, oh and parking was £10! Not the budget stay I originally thought it to be. Please be careful. Accommodation top class, clean, fresh, beautiful with attention to detail.

Reception: The ladies at reception are very nice and welcoming, especially Sabina. Room / facilities: Room number 311 is on the 3rd floor and is clean with a water view. Oddly, they don’t make up a room daily, unless requested. This service has no additional cost. The 2 single beds are jointed to make a king bed, there is a small clothes hanging area, little bathroom, chair and desk, with tea and coffee facilities. There is no fridge in the room, but reception will keep a small amount of items in the hotel fridge. Self control air conditioning with a window that opens about 5 cm. Parking: Is shared between the Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge hotels, and can fit about 35 cars. Parking is £10 per night, and registration must be provided. Wifi: Complementary and good speed. No validation or password required. Breakfast: This was part of our room package. The traditional English buffet breakfast is from 7.00am to 11.00am and consists of cereals, yogurt, breads (to toast) jams and spreads, fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon, baked beans, sausages, juices, tea and coffee. It was noticed that even at 9:00 am refills of milk, and food was slow to come. Conclusion: Great location, nice staff, comfortable bed. Letdowns: No fridge in the room, possibility of not getting car parking upon your return to the hotel. Location / Nearby: Cardiff Waterfront is a 10 minute walk, Cardiff City is a 15 min walk. Both walks are on flat ground and easy to do. Beware: No matter where you drive to, payment for parking is required. Most parking meters accept coin and card “tap” facilities. Generally after 6.00pm or 8.00pm parking is free, in designated locations. Getting to hotel: Best use GPS

After a few visits to Cardiff staying in various iffy hotels in the city centre we returned to The Future Inn last night - and have vowed to stay nowhere else from now on!! Firstly it's so easy from J33 M4 and the parking is spacious and FREE - Yes FREE!! Easy check in from an on-line flexible booking, reasonable rate. Friendly staff, large rooms, right temperature, very clean and good facilities (Welsh bottled water, kettle/hot drinks, nice bickies). Very good breakfast - using Welsh Ingredients. Also another plus point - Very easy to get to the city centre (Queen Street), using the shuttle train 4mins, from Cardiff Bay - Queen Street. The station is literally <5mins from The Future Inn & runs until midnight - about every 10mins or so. Cheap tickets (book ahead/use railcard) = £4 return for 2 people. Really enjoyed our stay & will be booking another stay later tonight. Well done The Future Inn!!

Anniversary and birthday. Beautiful hotel looking over Cardiff Bay /Penarth. We had a room overlooking the bay on the 7th floor. Stunning views. Used the Spa and really enjoyed the hydrotherapy funnels. Try and avoid child swim times if you want a little peace. Breakfast was vast offering everything you could possibly need. On arrival very small car park luckily one parking space left, Outside looks very run down, I was initially pleasantly surprised when walking in, the lobby looked very clean and tidy around the reception desk, until we saw the beer all over the floor and dirty cups on tables from the free coffee (we’ll get to the bit) There was a large group of “stag” goers ahead of us, who clearly hadn’t booked rooms as they were trying to work out what rooms were available, there was one lady trying her best to sort the group out with 3 other staff watching her, we waited for around 10mins Until an exasperated look from a party member towards who looked like the manager prompted him to use the hand held device to book us in, A key card was given …. No directions to my room, no info on breakfast times, no other info at all …. Just crack on …. I walked through the mini Lake District of beer to the lift, swiped my card and waited 2-3 mins …. The screen wasn’t working and the lift didn’t come so I used the stairs to the 4th floor, Found my “room” when I walked in it’s tiny, budget is the word, this was beyond budget, not even a mini kettle, the sink is in the room as is the shower, with a separate toilet cubicle, the frosted glass on the shower is made more so by the build up of lime Scale and watermarks no handle just a hole to use, this is ok as I’m alone but the other party had a 14yr old lad in a “family” room so not really acceptable in my eyes, the cubical was VERY small, my friend could barley get in, at 110kg but a power lifter he’s broad but not “huge” I’m 6ft 1 wear a large t-shirt and found it hard to shower In it. The room are run down, probably nice a few years ago (has wood chip wallpaper) . The skirting is coming away scuff marks every where, dust on the very small archaic tv, the air con unit didn’t work and the toilet rolls Sat on the floor behind the cistern (despite there being a hook to put them on) There was a “stool” that looked like an upturned washing bin, to a small desk I could only find 2 plugs I know the whole Room, couldn’t charge my watch/phone and iPad over night, (yes small Inconvenience but still annoying) The tv wouldn’t get a picture, I went to the front desk but no one was there, I bumped into the night porter earlier who seemed very friendly though so I’m guessing he was busy elsewhere. So I thought “ooh I’ll grab a coffee while I’m here”, small sachets of Nescafé original and plastic milk, I’ll pass thanks, Bed basic and comfy enough, not like Home but I suppose it is a budget hotel, The breakfast looked dire, continental for £6.50, I’ll hit the coop over the road or McDonald’s on the way home, All for an extortionate £140, there was an event on close by and this may have bumped the price a little but by 90£ on the base rate of £52 is crazy greed Needless to say I shall not be staying in one again, I Hope the normal ibis I have booked next month is better

Waexpecting a high standard of accommodation, it didn't live up to expectation. Rooms are pretty sp**** in furniture, we booked a executive suite on 18th floor, so view was great. Room was clean and we were only staying the night for a gig. Our room door had some sort of locking problem where it didn't lock until you unlocked it while open then closed the door, lucky I'm a but OCD about this sort of thing and tried the door as we left for the evening to find it openable from corridor. We couldn't shower the next morning as the cold water tap turned but no water came out, hot tap was scorching but no way of cooling it down. Breakfast was pretty ordinary tbf, nothing to write home about, hot held, mass cooked low on taste. Reported door and shower issues on leaving. An apology but no offer of a discount or voucher to compensate, especially about the shower. Shame we really wanted it to be a great experience as we have a few Cardiff trips planned and wanted a regular base.

Mermaid Quay
WWillSumThe Mermaid Pier is the heart of the entire Cardiff Bay area landscape, from the Cardiff Castle near the river to the harbor, on the one hand you can also from the yacht here to the far away (unfortunately many of the piers are locked). The dock is parked and even full of boats, many birds and ducks like to come here to bask in the sun. The entire viewing platform is divided into several layers but whether it is running or sitting, the cyclists are scattered.
Techniquest
WWillSumThe science and technology museum leaning on the seaside has become an important landmark building on the west side of the Millennium Center because of the narrow relationship between the building itself. Most of the buildings in the entire Cardiff coastal area are very modern, and the part facing the dock here has selected a large amount of glass as decoration, which makes the lighting effect of the building great, and also becomes a good angle for indoor viewing of the bay area.
Wales Millennium Centre
