Find the Cheap Braydon Hotels

I appreciate that the hotel is under new ownership, and having a serious makeover, but that's no excuse for a lengthy list of things that weren't ok! We were in a block awaiting refurb, and it really showed! Front door that didn't shut properly & had gaps in panels that let light through, into a stifling hot lobby with threadbare stair carpet up a narrow staircase to our room. Lots of cobwebs & dust around window& behind bed, bathroom door didn't shut, water pressure for shower was pathetic, as was the flush for the loo, window was cracked, and the sink plug didn't work - no information of any description in the room, not even a number to contact reception. Staff are being trained- but putting someone behind a bar who doesn't know what a Bailey's is & can't change a barrel is a bit of a fail! An annoying beep from a failing battery in the automatic doorstop was eventually solved by removing the doorstop completely, as either they had no batteries or didn't know how to change them - this was getting more like Fawlty Towers every minute. We decided not to have dinner at the Hotel, as the menu was decidedly uninspiring and overpriced (especially if you're vegetarian!) So to bed! Bed was comfy! But noise from the road prevented a decent night's sleep. Down for breakfast - all served yourself. no cleared tables available, no cereal bowls, only large mugs for coffee/tea, actual cooked breakfast was ok, apart from fried bread like soggy cardboard - but no plates for toast etc. To be fair, we stayed two nights, and the service the next day was better, but you cannot expect inexperienced trainee staff to cope on their own! All in all, we won't be back! If you do book in for a stay, make a booking at Sally Pusseys down the road for dinner- you won't be disappointed!

Booked 10 minutes before we arrived here after being let down by Pettifers, Crudwell (see separate review). Landlady was very welcoming and helped my husband when she saw him struggling to walk across the carpark. We had a room in the courtyard which meant no stairs and the shower was a large walk in so excellent for us. The bed was very comfortable and there was all we needed in the room. Enough space to walk around and a dressing table with a chair and mirror where I could do my hair as a plug was nearby. The entrance way to the carpark is a little tight but after the first time you get used to it and there was a large transit van which had managed fine. There were painters there who were so nice and guided me through. At the end of the carpark is a terrace with great countryside side views and as the weather was lovely we spent quite a bit of time there. The 2 lads in the bar were a credit to the place as they were friendly and helpful. Would defiantly recommend.

Service is very good

Unfortunately we seemed to be victim to what seems to be an ongoing trend here. I phoned before booking as my husband is disabled and we needed a ground floor room with a walk in shower. I spoke to a gentleman who was very pleasant on the phone and he said we could have ” a very nice large double which has a lovely cotswold stone wetroom”. My husbands birthday came around and we set off looking forward to our 2 night break. For me this always involves alot of pre planning but I was confident the room was going to meet our needs and requests. Imagine our surprise when the receptionist gave us the keys and said ”just go through that door and up the stairs”!!!!! When I told her of my conversation she said she knew exactly which room he was referring to but he had not put the request on the booking and that room was occupied. We had no alternative but to leave. Thank you to them for ruining our break, adding to our stress and making us feel discriminated against. Watch out if you are making a special request for a room as I have seen 2 previous reviews where it happened to them also. We took our money which we'd have spent on room, meal, drinks etc to spend at somewhere who cared.
