Find the Cheap Bodmin Hotels

My wife and I had a short break at this hotel. We really loved it. The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was modern and clean and the shower worked well. The breakfasts provided were very good with ample choice. The hotel was well situated in the middle of Bodmin and made a great base for exploring Cornwall. We had two Vietamese meals in the restaurant and both were very good with very good service. We would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

I had booked The Bodmin Jail Hotel for my daughter's 18th birthday surprise. We weren't disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we couldn't have been made more welcome. The hotel was very quiet, probably due to being a mid-week in mid-October, so I'm not sure when the hotel is at full capacity whether the same would be said, but for us we enjoyed the peace & quiet of not being disturbed. The rooms (unsurprisingly, given the thick walls) were totally quiet and super comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, the towels fluffy, plenty of hot water and soft bath robes, along with beautiful-smelling amentities. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but my only (very very minor) gripe was that there was literally only 1 decaf tea bag in comparison to about 10 sachets of coffee. I could have asked for more, I know, but I had brought my own so didn't bother. A complimentary mini-bar is a nice touch, too. The staff were lovely. Being so quiet, occasionally it was hard to find someone, especially when we went for a drink in the Champagne Bar in the evening, but all staff members were lovely. I had planned a surprise of some balloons and a birthday banner for my daughter in our room on arrival, and this was handled perfectly, even with the addition of a birthday cake made out of towels - a fantastic touch. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful and served in the beautiful chapel. All in all, we had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend it as an unusual destination. If you book directly with the hotel, you get complimentary access to the Bodmin Jail Museum. Be prepared, though, it's not much of a laugh (given its subject matter) and quite dark and scary, especially at the beginning, so if you don't like the dark, loud noises and being shut into underground spaces, perhaps give it a miss! I'm glad we went, though, as it really gave me an insight into just how horrific our prison system used to be.

I was really hoping to be able to write something more positive as my partner chose this restaurant for lunch, but unfortunately the best way I could describe our roast dinner was unremarkable. The first mouthful was lukewarm, the meat was scant and thinly cut. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding unappealing, the vegetables almost indistinguishable except for the peas. Presentation non-existent, although the service was good. I know it could be hugely more enjoyable - try eating Sunday roast at the Swan in Bampton, Devon - a completely different experience including the settings. I would love Trehallas to do better, I left feeling disappointed. Update the décor, so it doesn't feel I've stepped back in time. Direct the chef to serve the food hot, present the veg in separate dishes, provide extra gravy. Easy things to remedy. Customers, especially those who have travelled and come across exceptional meals, expect more these days. Trehellas are still catering for those who are happy with 1980's pub grub.

We planned to stay in Polperro for the evening but failed to book ahead of time and upon arrival, all accommodation was booked out so we made some phone calls and was recommend the King's Arms by another establishment. We were grateful to be able to secure a last minute booking and to be greeted by such lovely people after what was a very long day!! Danni, the hotelier made check in easy, offering us breakfast for the next morning. Leanne, the cleaner there was also overly helpful, even though not on duty, was lovely enough to escort me to my car, helping me with my groceries and luggage back to the accommodation. Both Danni and Leanne were welcomed new friends who were very knowledgeable about the area, helpful with tips for our planned trip to The Eden Project the next day and an absolute pleasure to meet! The room, bathroom, walk-in cloakroom is very miniature. The toilet door is located in the middle of a single bed and the distance from the bed is only one person. It is very clean and hygienic. The window is facing the open-air swimming pool in the courtyard. Our room is on the reception floor of the hotel reception, and the floor of the room is a bit low; The corridor is very narrow, there are three rooms in the corner of our door, and they are very close to each other. The room is soundproofed and there is no interruption to each other. The location of the hotel is very convenient, there is a supermarket 7 or 8 minutes away

The hotel is in a suburb, the suburb of Bodmin, next to a highway service toll station, but there are few food at the toll station, just McDonald's, Subway and a Coop supermarket. If you want to go to Bodmin town for a meal, you can't do it without a car. Because it takes more than 2 hours to walk. So in theory, it should be normal to take away food. We bought food and prepared to eat in the hotel lobby, and then the front desk staff came and said that you can't eat, our place provides meals, and you can't eat takeaway food. To be honest, this is the first time I heard this reason. I'm not sitting in your restaurant, can't I eat takeaway in the lobby? I've stayed in many HIXes in the UK, and I came across this one, which was arrogant and acted like it had a reason. Other HIXes will let you use plates and knives and forks. This one will only drive people away. I thought they wanted me to buy their wine, so we bought it, and after buying it, they still drove people away. It was really annoying. Later I thought he was discriminating. Because the table next to me was eating pizza, so, see.
