The treehouse room was beautiful but you can see all the kinks of a new hotel. Overall the hotel seems nice and would expect them to work out the kinks over the next couple months. 1) At check-in a warm towel or offer of warm beverage would be nice. We didn’t get much information on the room. When we got to the room we had to figure out the light and heating combos (sounds basic but a lot of switches). The twinkle lights never worked and didn’t have any extra blankets. We walked ourselves to our room and carried our bags through the snow. We weren’t offered help, checkout times, or advised to call before leaving to arrange the shuttle. 2) it would be nice if they offered a dark hour or notice of northern lights. Luckily we set alarms and went out to see for ourselves. We would’ve been able to see it from the treehouse but so many lights on buildings, reindeer hut and decorations. Just make it dark for an hour and tell us at checkin. 3) the restaurant is okay. It has lots of potential. A list of liquor or cocktails available would be helpful. Additionally, if we could order sides to the mains it would be nice. Steak comes with 2 pieces of broccolini for around 35 euro. Would happily pay for more vegetables. 4) if they really want to make the stay exciting offer little cooking kits for the room. They give you a hot plate and dishes but you have to plan ahead if you want to prepare something. It would be fun to have a little kit of something to cook together on a hot plate (desert or snack). 5) hope they create some kind of lounge for the evening. Would keep us there longer for sure! Also they work with Nordic adventures who uses their property but you still pay extra for transfers with Nordic.
The location of the hotel is relatively remote, and taxis are required for travel. There are no other restaurants in the eight-kilometre radius, and they can only be settled in the hotel. The hotel room is quite large, but slippers and body lotion are not provided, which is very inconvenient. The toilet paper provided by the hotel is also the worst I have ever seen in a Finnish hotel. No paper towels are provided. The hygiene of the room is not very good, and can only reach the standard of the inn. The buffet breakfast provided is very simple and the quality is average. The only advantage is that the restaurant is a good place to watch the sunrise.
I cannot fault the communications beforehand (high floor request met) the cleanliness and facilities of apartment 68 for our 4 night stay were brilliant as too the location. My choosing an apartment over a hotel was for the additional comforts. As a 2 guest apartment I have suggested 2 comfortable chairs or small sofa be provided as I personally do not enjoy lounging on a bed, but neither spending 4 nights on a dining chair! Sadly our discomfort did not end there as we were cold the entire time. The heating was on max and the bathroom was warm but not the living area. Contacting customer services I was told the overall heating was based on the outside temperature ( it was -19 ) and over 24hrs later a heater arrived which was totally inadequate, kept cutting out and having been warned not to leave it on whilst we slept I did not consider it safe. As we had returned late and were departing the next day we discarded it and ended up going to bed. I have seen other reviews where this has been an issue and would of considered it a relative easy fix. The exceedingly good review I could of given has been literally left out in the cold!!

Meet the New Year family in this wonderful place. Very glad they didn't make a mistake with the choice. Rest on 5 out of 5. It is really a very beautiful place in nature in the surrounding rivers (or lakes) and mothy oils, but to the city and village of Santa Claus hand to hand on the car. The houses themselves are cute, warm and comfortable, the atmosphere is home. Sound isolation is excellent. There is a sauna, and everything is! The hosts are pleasant and responsive people, thank you very much! All this creates a delightful mood and therefore contributes to a good rest! Minus, if such are, they are completely unwilling to notice. But I'll still let myself have a spoon of degth. Because it was New Year I personally didn't have enough dishes and I would have been good to update it. Well, in general everything is wonderful and we got better than we expected. Place to return! Recommend 100% P.S. Thank you to the big host Tahira for a steep salute on New Year's Eve !!!
Perfect stay! Arrived on my own and was collected promptly at the airport - was offered to stop at Lidl on the way to collect some groceries. The apartment is really spacious and super warm! The sauna is great; gets up to around 85-90°C. The apartment is located about a 10 minute drive from the city centre or Santa's Village. There is shopping about a 3-4 minute drive. Unless you've rented a car, I would suggest using the offered taxi service which is run by the company. Kitchen has everything you'd need; microwave, hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer. My only suggestion would be a couple more towels because between showers and saunas, you'd be finished with them very quickly!
🚗 Traffic: The only drawback is that it's really far away and you can take a taxi anywhere. There is a hotel special bus in the morning but it's missed. Everything else is fine.

Not a good start. Checked in with not much of a welcome by female receptionist, she gave us our key and pointed to some steps. Found our room and started to unpack when a man used a key pass and entered our room and then went out again and then came in again, and went out again…..we were baffled! A few minutes later the not so friendly receptionist came in to our room, (it would have been nice if she had knocked) saying that were in the wrong room….like we’d put ourselves in the room! She went out again and then came back saying we’re in the room and we’ll have to move. Next the Crystal Rep. knocked on the door and said they’d been a mistake and we’re been put in the wrong room and she would find out what room number were moving to (the receptionist never came back to apologised). Then the man came back and barged passed us and put his suitcase in the room and disappeared again! The Crystal Rep helped us move to the other room …..thank goodness for her - she said she would feedback to the hotel manager and the next day he apologised for the inconvenience and gave us a voucher for tea and cake …..we would have preferred the receptionist to apologise for entering the room twice and making out it was our fault that we were in the wrong room!! The room was very basic but clean and comfortable. …..there was a kettle as described but not tea, coffee, milk or sugar as described in a review we read. We didn’t steep properly as you can hear everything going on in the other rooms….we were woken up at 6am every morning to what can only be described as someone tap dancing in the room above. The hotel was filled with at least 95% of families that were on the Santa Package so a very noisy place, and our evening meals were not relaxing at all as the children were constantly running around in the restaurant and climbing over the furniture….it was manic. The food was good but not much of a selection - the Chefs in the kitchen were wonderful and served us with hot vegetarian meals. The breakfast selection was good but if you like warm portage and warm pancakes you will be disappointed as hot food was always luke warm ….as the the soup in the evenings and the water in the earn was never boiling.
We were visiting Rovaniemi in july 2024. Stayed at Metsahirvas Hotel in Hirvas. Located 15 min by car south of Rovaniemi. Very nice room with toilet and shower. Rather small but comfy with waterheater and coffee or tea to enjoy. Very friendly staff. Hotel has a small restaurant that serves burgers and pizza. There is water, beers and wines. Ate a pizza with ground meat, smoked reindeermeat and lingonberries. That was recommended by the lady in the bar. It was VERY good and really tasty. Breakfast was quite good with homebaked bread and toasts and a selection of ham, salami, marmalades. Cereals in severeal kinds and also som lettuce and tomsto and cucumber..
