Find the Cheap Velilla-Taramay Hotels

We stayed at the Playacalida Spa Hotel for a week in August as a family of four. To begin with, the hotel location is very remote. We only chose to visit Almunecar as I have family that live there. There are no shops or bars within walking distance, so if this is important to you, this hotel may not be for you. The hotel grounds are kept clean and in decent condition. Our room was clean, if not a little bit tired and rough around the edges. The sea view from the terrace was lovely and the air conditioning was great whilst sleeping. The pools are amazing, the best I have ever experienced and the jewel in the crown of this hotel. Both pools kept my kids entertained for the whole week. The food was OK, probably the most repetitive selection I have had at an all inclusive hotel. The buffet area gets hectic at busy times and I felt this wasn't helped by the layout. We did go at peak holiday times though, so this maybe different at quieter times in the year. Table service for drinks is frustratingly slow, although this is no fault of the staff, who are rushing around like crazy working as hard as possible. I felt this situation could really have been helped by self service drinks stations, as found in lots of other all-inclusive hotels. This would really take the pressure off the hardworking staff, and make the whole dining experience more relaxed. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful in general, from the reception to the restaurants and bar areas. I think some of the negative reviews regarding this may just be down to the language barrier. Hardly any of the staff speak English, which is fair enough in Spain! But we still found them to be helpful, polite and friendly. As with the restaurants, the pool bars are very busy with long queues. The staff work very hard in the boiling heat to keep up with the demand. As with the restaurant, self-service drinks stations for all inclusive customers would reduce waiting times and take pressure off the hardworking staff. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing break, for the amazing pools and stunning sea views. When rating the hotel, I felt average was too harsh but very good was a bit much. I would say this is a good hotel that could be excellent with a few small changes in my opinion. Self-service drinks stations for all inclusive customers would really reduce the queuing and waiting times at bars plus make the dining experience more relaxed. I also felt that there were not enough outside seating areas in the evening. The infinity pool was lit up at night and looked amazing, overlooking the sea. I feel the hotel are missing a trick by not having a bar and seating area there to give customers an alternative to the hot entertainment hall in the evenings.

Just spent 10 days there, no fridge in room, no tea/coffee making facilities, no shelf in bathroom, very thin walls you can hear everything, same boring breakfast with hotdog sausages, reception staff don't speak or understand much English but the ladies were helpful, could not exchange money in hotel or anywhere in almunicar had to use ATM for euros, don't even consider the pool you can't get a sunbed around 3 sides of it & were you can you'd be lucky to fit six, we got the impression that they don't like British people in almunicar and there was no entertainment any were with a lot of restaurants not even having a British menu, the beach is pebbled no sand, it's nice in the old town but I would say it's a day trip not a resort! I hope this helps!

En este preciso instante nos encontramos en este magnífico hostal pasado el puente de mayo. Habitación bonita y cómoda.. Aire acondicionado, pequeña nevera, television de pantalla plana de gran tamaño, colchón de gran calidad. Inmejorable situación, cerca de todo, el centro a 5 minutos y la playa a unos diez, con un agradable y pequeño paseo estas allí. Nosotros hemos aparcado el coche y no lo tocamos hasta que no nos vayamos. Por ultimo agradecer al chico que nos ha atendido al llegar, amable y dispuesto para ayudar y aconsejar en todo lo que necesites. Se nos ha olvidado el cargador del móvil y nos ha dejado uno hasta que nos vayamos. Gracias . Todavía no me he ido y ya estoy pensando en volver .

Just booked one night at this hotel and we were very pleased with the experience. Very well located near the center of Almunecar (bus station, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, etc..), walking distance also to the beach. We did a thorough search on the internet until we found a very good deal. Large lobby, clean and well kept in general. Very professional and polite receptionist who started by asking if  I would like to speak in english or spanish. Per our request, he eventually changed our room from the first floor to the sixth floor. We got a large twin room (like shown in the pictures), with a large bathroom, with a tub and a half glass for shower. Shower gel and shampoo was provided. There was a well kept balcony (tidy, with a table, two chairs and an ashtray) with a view to the city center and the sea (sideways). I call the attention to how tidy this balcony was, with the stainless steel handrails absolutely spotless, without stains (very unusual as balconies are normally overlooked). Room had a big desk and a very helpful mini refrigerator. TV  (maybe satellite) few channels in english and a somehow difficult remote to work with. One night stand between the two beds. Each twin bed was actually a small double in size. Two reading lights. They have a car park for 12€/day. Street parking is possible on the nearby streets (paid until 14h00),  but during Summer months or peak weekends it would almost be impossible to find a street place (better to use their car park). We didn't try breakfast, but there are many options nearby. Overall we were happy with our choice and can recommend this hotel based on our good experience.

A small modern hotel set back from the beach. Clean comfortable rooms. Whole hotel is on one ground floor and breakfast is in the basement. Free parking on the road opposite. Small double bed. Simple breakfast. Overall good value. The main downside is that there is no outside or roof area to sit in the sun.

The hotel has an ideal location with a great view of the bay and each unit has a nice balcony. We were there in November so their restaurant was only open for breakfast. Breakfast was fine. I’d give it a good over an average rating, but that’s not an option on Trip Advisor. I would stay again if we were in Almunecar. We wandered next door to the bird park and that was an enjoyable hour and half. We climbed to the top of the rock just across the road from the hotel and took some amazing sunset photos. The bar/tapas scene is a bit of a walk from the hotel but wasn’t hard to find.

Well located and bad is the lack of filling champagne, shaving knives, tooth skin, toothpaste, skin ...

Hotel con buena ubicación, a 5 minutos caminando de la playa de San Cristóbal. Habitación amplia y cómoda. Personal muy amable y servicial. Desayunos (fue la opción que contratamos) con amplia variedad. Piscina agradable aunque en algunos momentos puede resultar pequeña para la cantidad de huéspedes. Actividades recreativas agradables y variadas cada día, especialmente buenas las actividades recreativas para los niños. Sin duda lo recomiendo.
