This small town about 70 kilometers from Barcelona is sparsely populated and the business is sluggish. The hotel is very easy to find and there are a lot of parking spaces. Hotel facilities are general, window air conditioners appear to be of lower grade. Breakfast is average. The service is not bad.
It is the second time that I have stayed in the apartments, it is true that they are very well located and that they have an agreement with the parking lot that is right in front, with access via a walkway and an elevator. The problem is that it depends a lot on the apartment they give you, I have paid the same both times and the apartments have nothing to do with each other, if they had given me the one the second time the first time I would not return. Strong smell of tobacco from the stairs, poorly cleaned bathroom, small, uncomfortable shower with black silicone, very very rough sheets and towels, very small apartment, I can cook from the bed, very hot in the room when I arrive, very The bathroom and refrigerator were noisy, the television remote had dirty windows, it left a lot to be desired and no cover. Anyway, the first time the apartment was about three times the size of the second one and at least I had a sofa where I could sit and watch TV or work. I'll think about it when I have to return for work, this time I wasn't comfortable.
First of all, I want to point out that we were accommodated in the hotel by the airline that canceled our flight that day. We were told that we would get transportation to the hotel, overnight stay, breakfast, dinner, and that the hotel would provide us with a return transport for the flight next morning. Firstly, when we arrived to check in, the receptionist didn't even know we were coming. Secondly, we went to dinner at 8 pm (dinner lasts until 11 pm). Me and two colleagues waited for the first course for a full 45 minutes. And then an additional hour until the food arrived (they don't have a buffet, only a daily menu). At 21:30, the soup arrived and it was cold. Also, later there was no more soup so other guests had to order something else. Then, we got unseasoned cold, dry chicken with fries, also cold. The food looked like it was served in a student canteen. Dessert was okay. Only water is included in the price of drinks. When returning to the rooms, we asked the reception to prepare breakfast packages for three of us at 3 am, because we have a flight at 6 am. We also asked for this at check-in. At 3 in the morning during check out, we were suddenly told that there was no more seats for us on the bus they ordered to the airport and that we had to call and pay for a taxi (90 euros) ourselves. They did not care about this situation AT ALL. In addition, the breakfast package was only prepared for two colleagues, they didn't make it for the third, even though we asked for it THREE times. Very very bad experience!! And yes, the rooms are nice but they are not clean. There were ants under the bed. I do understand that we were not regular guests because we came suddenly from the airport, but that is NO WAY the reason for such bad service. In the end, a big, huge negative feedback for the receptionist who was on the night shift - she had absolutely no desire to help us in any way. Would NOT recommend.
The experience which sticks most in our memories is nearly losing our passports; they fell out of a pocket, while we were leaving. Luckily the lady who checked us out spotted this and brought these to our car. That stands for all our contacts with Hotel Mon's staff; alert, helpful, efficient and friendly. Also fluent English speakers. The gin and tonics we enjoyed in the superbly designed lounge overlooking the monastery are the next most memorable items: never have we seen such large/heavy goblets, containing about twice the normal contents. Only one of those necessary before dinner. Both dinner and breakfast were very good: for breakfast, full marks for frying eggs to order, and providing freshly squeezed orange juice and Cava. The standards are very high in this hotel, as shown by the care and attention, and training of the staff. Just a couple of niggles; the restaurant was not open at lunchtime, and we couldn't get a twin room with an easy to access shower; we were offered such a room, but it was fully equipped for mobility impaired guests, which we didn't need/want. The shower in the bath was what we got instead. In praise of the room, it was modern, spacious and comfortable: plenty of wardrobe space.
