We stayed two nights. First night: ok. We left our room at 10:00 and saw the cleaning lady opening our window (ground floor, right at the parking lot). When we came back at 17:30 our window was still wide open… Our belongings right in sight and ready to be taken away… (laptops). Luckily nothing was stolen, but the room was full of flies and with outside temperatures of + 34•C, extremely hot. When we complained at the reception we got as answer: ‘oh sorry, they must have forgotten to close, but there’s nothing we can do…’ and they turned away… So we had a terrible second night in a hot room which the AC couldn’t get down before the morning,… Very bad experience! At least they could have offered us another room, but no, not even a cold drink…

The location is good if you have a car, is not close (walking distance) to the city, but at the same time really good location. Service is just fantastic, everyone was nice with us and welling to help if we asked for something. the Snack bar (cafeteria) staff is the best of the best, as well as the housekeeping staff. The only bad thing was the AC, we have no idea if it was ”warm” because the new ordinance or because something else, but unfortunately the hotel's location is so close to a highway, the room was quiet and good, but we try to sleep a little bit cooler, and with the window open was just imposible

We had planned to stay at the Parador, but it was fully booked, so we stayed here for 8 nights instead. Despite its four star rating, Hotel Rio Bidasoa was about half the price - so our expectations were not great. The hotel is well located with a convenient car park, and the reception area is welcoming (as were the staff). Buffet breakfast was generally good, and the bedroom was spacious, well equipped and air-conditioned. My primary criticism is that the building is bland and characterless. Internal decor (particularly in the bedrooms) lacks warmth and colour - it feels spartan and utilitarian despite being very clean and well appointed (TV, Nespresso machine, fridge, safe etc). Also - be warned that the laminate flooring seems to amplify and transmit sounds between rooms - you could literally hear a pin drop!. Despite the negatives, this is a good hotel and it offers great value.

Amazing castle high up in Hondaribbia.. Position is right in the centre of the old town so perfect for exploring. Beds were not the best. A bit hard but acceptable for a couple of nights. The rooms weren’t luxurious, a bit tired but the views from our bedroom were spectacular, overlooking the Atlantic harbour. Decent sized bathroom. Breakfast was just okay - freshly squeezed juices would have been nice. Lots of good restaurants nearby as although there’s a cafeteria on site, no facilities for dinner. Overall would recommend as the opportunity to stay in an actual castle is worth it.

We were staying at our friends home in San Sebastián until the tour d France closed the road to the airport. Decided to stay close to the airport in hondarribia! Such a cute little sea side town! The Jaizkibel was a pleasant surprise! The hotel is has a cozy inviting courtyard and dining room and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms, though small, are very comfortable and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable! I would definitely come back to this place!

The hotel is well situated with lots of bars and restaurants around. Our room was very comfortable and clean. For the price the breakfast was disappointing. We would have expected a selection of peeled and cut up fresh fruit and a kitchen which cooked eggs freshly to order. In all the other hotels we stayed in during our trip in Spain a choice of eggs was available as were platters of fruit.

GGuest UserWe were staying at our friends home in San Sebastián until the tour d France closed the road to the airport. Decided to stay close to the airport in hondarribia! Such a cute little sea side town! The Jaizkibel was a pleasant surprise! The hotel is has a cozy inviting courtyard and dining room and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms, though small, are very comfortable and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable! I would definitely come back to this place!

Service is just fantastic, everyone was nice with us and welling to help if we asked for something. the Snack bar (cafeteria) staff is the best of the best, as well as the housekeeping staff. The only bad thing was the AC, we have no idea if it was ”warm” because the new ordinance or because something else, but unfortunately the hotel's location is so close to a highway, the room was quiet and good, but we try to sleep a little bit cooler, and with the window open was just imposible

GGuest UserWe stayed two nights. First night: ok. We left our room at 10:00 and saw the cleaning lady opening our window (ground floor, right at the parking lot). When we came back at 17:30 our window was still wide open… Our belongings right in sight and ready to be taken away… (laptops). Luckily nothing was stolen, but the room was full of flies and with outside temperatures of + 34•C, extremely hot. When we complained at the reception we got as answer: ‘oh sorry, they must have forgotten to close, but there’s nothing we can do…’ and they turned away… So we had a terrible second night in a hot room which the AC couldn’t get down before the morning,… Very bad experience! At least they could have offered us another room, but no, not even a cold drink…

We had planned to stay at the Parador, but it was fully booked, so we stayed here for 8 nights instead. Despite its four star rating, Hotel Rio Bidasoa was about half the price - so our expectations were not great. The hotel is well located with a convenient car park, and the reception area is welcoming (as were the staff). Buffet breakfast was generally good, and the bedroom was spacious, well equipped and air-conditioned. My primary criticism is that the building is bland and characterless. Internal decor (particularly in the bedrooms) lacks warmth and colour - it feels spartan and utilitarian despite being very clean and well appointed (TV, Nespresso machine, fridge, safe etc). Also - be warned that the laminate flooring seems to amplify and transmit sounds between rooms - you could literally hear a pin drop!. Despite the negatives, this is a good hotel and it offers great value.
