The building, owned by the Archdiocese of Cologne in the Bockenberg district of Bergisch Gladbach, was built in 1924 as a seminary but is now a conference centre and hotel. The Thomas More Academy in Bensberg is based here and conducts most of its events. The building, which is located on a hill above Bensberg and affords a wide view of the Rhine valley and Cologne, can be reached via a driveway from Overather Straße ( B 55 ) through a gated building in which the flats are housed. The indoor and outdoor spaces and the rooms are spacious, essential but elegant and equipped with every comfort. Attention to the environment and to the needs of each guest are a must, which can be found both in the rooms and in the breakfast area. Anti-covid measures are strictly respected.

Unser Zimmer lag direkt über dem Gastraum und es war sehr laut, sogar das vibrieren eines Handys im Nebenzimmer war zu hören. Das Zimmer war die ganze Nacht fast taghell, da gegenüber die Tankstelle voll beleuchtet war und die Laternen auf der Kreuzung auch. Ich hatte in der ersten Nacht max. 2 Std Schlaf und bin dann nach dem Frühstück mit meiner Tochter (4J.) wieder heim gefahren, da auch diese zu wenig Schlaf hatte. Die Zimmertemperatur lag bei 25 Grad. Service was nett und freundlich. 😊

I booked for a night at the Hotel Spiegel and would certainly do it again if I were on the business in and around Porz. Sufficiently free parking outside the hotel. A established house, led by the owners with much love and heart blood. A hearty reception with all the information that is important for the guest. My room .... large, light-fluid, good bed, clean bathroom. (unfortunately tape floor) Breakfast is in comparison to many other hotels - first-class. A large selection of sauce, cheese, salmon, marmelade, fruit salad, house-made nudel salad, yogurt and panna Cotta, fresh rice eggs, fresh cross baker breads ... more can not be. The boss himself brings the coffee to the table. You can breakfast at tables with white table covers and fresh flowers. The guest is really a guest here and the hosts deserve their name. Thank you.

Wir waren kurz mal hier und vollkommen überrascht! So genial, wie hier die Gästezimmer in die Fachwerkhäuser ”eingepasst” sind, sowas haben wir noch nicht kennengelernt!! Echt gemütlich! Auch das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit!! Wir werden wieder mal vorbei schauen!!

We had to check in very late (about 02:30), but that was not a problem at all. The service was very friendly and helpful. We had booked a room for 3 people over Booking.com that was unfortunately no longer available on site. We were fully unproblematic and without additional costs ”distributed” to two Comfort double rooms and received another drink from the house bar for free as an excuse. The rooms themselves are very well equipped and comfortable. The included breakfast was the “hammer” and very rich and varied. Of us absolutely recommended. A parking house is right next to and has not cost us anything.

I booked this hotel for myself and my family to stay for 1 night to break up our journey from Prague back to the uk. I reserved a double room for 2 adults and 1 child. We didn’t arrive till late, 21.30 to be exact and we were all very tired from a long journey. When we arrived, no staff, left with a code to enter property. When we entered the room there were two single beds. We rang the number available and spoke to the owner and he told me that was the only room left and no other rooms available as fully booked, his attitude was terrible. So me and my partner had to ring round other hotels to try and get a room at half nine in the evening on a Saturday evening. We rang 4 hotels and they were fully booked. Absolutely shocking service, very dated hotel and terrible surroundings. This man does not deserve business with this terrible attitude and leaving a family stranded with no bed for the night. PLEASE AVOID
