Booked in here by mistake 😂 (i took a train to Shangdu, which is not the same place as Xanadu!! (Its about 4 hours away)… the hotel is gorgeous though; huge, modern rooms and a great breakfast too. Watched a midnight storm through the huge floor to ceiling windows. One of those high end gems you find in China because they have the money to build places such as this. I probably wont come back to Shangdu again (although it does break up the train journey from Hohhot to the real Xanadu) but if i do, its an obvious, top grade option. Lovely staff too, who helped me with my train bookings.

The only advantage is that the room is large. The reason for the low score, 1. The big bed room was originally booked, but the front desk opened the standard room. Because it was too troublesome to bring the elderly and children, I would stay. 2. The heavy sheep smell as soon as I entered the door; 3. The shampoo shower gel is poor; 3. The hair of the bath towel is smoothed and still in use; 4. The faucet is very small.

When I arrived at the store, I was told that there was no room in Trip.com , saying that the system was closed, and I could not book a room. I contacted Trip.com customer service and finally checked in. The room smelled very big, the window was open for a long time, and the roof status was shown in the picture. Rundown Town and provably the best hotel available that accepts foreign guests. Came here on the mistaken understanding that this Shangdu was the famed Shangdu of 'Xanadu' fame! OK, fairly priced hotel. Ok coffee shop across the road (with harley davidson motorcycle on display) but ortherwisw a forgettable town.
