GGuest UserHotel is conveniently located less than five minutes’ walk (with luggage) from Basel SBB. We were greeted by a genuinely friendly receptionist, who informed us that we had been upgraded. Well, we arrived at the “room,” which turned out to be a suite with dining/conference area, two bathrooms, a soaking tub, and a panaromic view of the Basel skyline. The dining/living area and bedroom were separate, each with individually controlled A/C. The weather was actually very cool and pleasant for late June, so the A/C was sufficient. That said, if it had been hotter, I’m not sure if the A/C in the bedroom would have quite enough for me, but I’m an extremely picky customer when it comes to air conditioning. In general, Switzerland is a tough place if you need your room at 19 Celcius/69 Farenheit. The living room, though, was able to get very cold. The in-house dining and beverage options were fantastic. There’s a more formal restaurant on the mezzanine above the lobby, where I enjoyed a great meal that worked around my dietary restrictions. Downstairs, there’s a patio restaurant/cafe, and a stylish indoor bar with a midcentury Milanese aesthetic. Honestly, I was surprised it wasn’t busier, but that might have been because we were staying midweek, right after Art Basel. Overall, I very highly recommend. Probably best suited to business travel, but it didn’t feel impersonal, or lacking in personality or style. On the contrary, it was comfortable and contemporary, with a few modernist touches that elevated the look and feel of the property.

GGuest UserThis is a modern hotel with convenient location Location Not in Basel Old Town, but there is metro stop right outside, they give free metro RQ vouches to all hotel guests. Very easy to get around by metro Very safe area Staff Front desk staff are all very friendly Room Clean Spacious Modern Comfortable beds with modern bathroom Restaurant On-site restaurant has nice ambiance and tasty food The Viking River Cruise uses this hotel for their guests. Very pleasant stay Highly recommend

XXiamenbiaogeThe location of the hotel is good, next to the European train station SBB, it is very convenient to travel by taxi and public transportation. The biggest problem is that there is no air-conditioning. It is only the beginning of June, and the outdoor temperature is as high as 28 degrees at noon. There is no air-conditioning indoors, and the sunlight is direct (European latitude is high, and the sun's slope is not large in summer), and the indoor temperature is as high as 34-36 degrees! I couldn't sleep at all. I asked the front desk and said that the temperature is relatively low at night and it will cool down. The room is not ventilated and it won't cool down at all! Only a small electric fan is provided, and I have no sleep all night! When booking a hotel in Europe, you must ask whether there is air conditioning. 80% of hotels in Europe do not have air conditioning, which is unbearable in summer! This is still a European four-star hotel!

GGuest UserThe location is great, close to the Old Town and only minutes on foot from Barfuesserplatz. Parking at Steinen is also within relatively reasonable distance. The service was great and the staff very friendly. The rooms are modern, and what we especially appreciated were the separated shower and toilet, although we did miss additional opportunities to hang bath towels. Our room was to the front of the building and therefore somewhat noisy due to the proximity of the tram line, but I guess that's the caveat of such a central location. For breakfast there are two options: The full buffet breakfast at the Teufelhof across the street, or the coffee shop on the ground floor of the SET Hotel itself. We opted for the latter and loved their croissants. The corridors felt a bit bland, dark and ”hospital-like”, as my wife put it. A bit of colour would give it a somewhat friendlier touch. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and think it's an ideal place to stay for exploring the city.

ZZherIt was a comfortable stay, with great pillow and comforter. The toilets are clean and bright, with shower gel provided, as well as towels! The breakfast was amazing. The room is spacious and the overall environment as well as the architecture of the building is unique and impressive. However, there is no power socket around the bed, only a usb might be a slight disadvantage. You have to take the bus from the train station but they do provide free Basel Transport card. I enjoyed my stay there and would come back if I'm visiting Basel again!

We stayed for one night as a family of 2 adults and 2 children and we absolutely loved this stay! We would say one of the better novotels we have stayed in! Very friendly at reception! Perfect location. We wanted somewhere that was good value and close to Basel station and this was perfect! We walked it in about 10 minutes. We had lovely drinks at the bar (thank you novotel!) and it is close to Basel centre too and very close to the tram stop making it perfect. Room was comfortable and had a bath which was perfect for us! Breakfast was great - everything you need with great fresh bakery items and pancakes from the pancake machine which the kids loved. Thank you for a lovely stay!

GGuest UserI have stayed in many Ibis budget hotels and this was by far one of the best ones. The ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful and the gentleman who was in charge of breakfast provided first class service. All hotel staff spoke German, French and English and were very approachable. The room was nice and tidy. I was given a Basel card at the hotel, which allowed me to use public transport free of charge and provided access to various museums with half price entry. Although this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the train station Basel SBB, there are 2 trams that one can take from Basel SBB that lead to a tram stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. I had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel. Thanks to the Ibis team for a great time there!

GGuest UserReally great hostel for seeing the sights of Basel. Location was close to the Basel SBB train station and trams going into the main part of Basel. You can also easily walk. I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm, which had comfy beds. Each bed has it's own locker assigned with key provided by the hostel. There is a good kitchen with a fridge for guests to use, as well as table space to sit and eat. Showers are spacious and not on a timer. The Basel card they give you at check in is great for discounts on museum tickets and free public transport. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and checking in was straightforward. I would recommend as a place to stay to explore beautiful Basel.
