I often hesitate when I see green carpets at a hotel, as typically theyโre old and crusty. We arrived to find the hotel (including the green carpets) to be in fabulously maintained order! The rooms were generously sized, ours with a large deck that looked out to the Three Sisters. The entire hotel was kept extremely clean as well, and the housekeeping staff were friendly. They offered a bagged breakfast that included a fresh muffin, which was a nice touch. It was quiet during our stay, but Iโd love to see the facilities bustling during the winter season. Overall our visit to Fernie was made better by the top notch stay with the folks at Park Place Lodge!

Horrible Horrible reservation experience and customer service. Beware you might book a room and be confirmed and show up and have them tell you have NO room. ๐ฃ We were travelling through the mountains and booked room through booking.com . After received confirmation email We called the hotel to confirm booking before losing the phone signal which was confirmed with front desk, because had a young child and was a busy weekend. After we finished biking and dinner at 9pm and we drove to the hotel with my family ready to check in, the front desk lady told us our booking got canceled!!!!!???? Front Desk then stated that they emailed us to confirm the Credit card on the file which have already put in when we booked the room, we never received the email from her as we were out of service in the mountains. We had no ideaโฆ.๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ After confirming our reservation on the phone it made no sense that our reservation was cancelled. Especially with all the approvals through texting email message. Then the front desk staff told us there was a walking person who likes our room just hr before we arrived , and the owner sold the room to him๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก? The owner had received our booking , spoke with us after the booking . She had our phone number , but she decided to take action to cancel our room and email us to communicate. Front desk girl felt bad and wanted to help for the situation then went and phoned the owner Iโm guessing to see about a room that might be available but not only she didnโt help us, but also ordered us to leave her property. At this point with no where to with a 5yr old, we have no where to go or sleep as all the hotels were booked and sold out or we would have just left and found another hotel at resorts who wanted our business. And ironically other hotel staff told us they have heard similar things about this owner. Waited until the last part, when we got back called her for a conversation and explanation and she hanged up on us multiple times without even a apology. We have never ever ever experienced anything like this before.๐ก๐ก๐ก I donโt really understand where other good reviews come from, but this is true experience we had with them. The place actually looks nice from all photos but the questions is : Are you going to check your emails throughout the traveling after booked the room ??? There is risks that the owner will cancel your room๐ฌ๐๐ผ

An old, worn out, two story motel. Not a โLodgeโ. No hot tub, no pool, no fitness room, no sauna, no bar, no dining room, no food service, no fireplace. Basement floor is used as seasonal housing for staff, other workers and trades people. Guests are put on first and second floors. Stained fabric seats on chairs, leaking shower. Chipped table. Poor quality mattresses, old worn out sheets, worn out key pad on microwave (couldn't see the numbers), dried up crumbs of food in corners of room. Spilled grease on dresser. Small TV wouldn't work. Waited three days, but the requested technician never showed up to fix it. Noisy next to parking Lot #2. No elevator. No staff to assist with bags. No luggage carts. No concierge. Paper coffee cups were all that was available for all beverages, including coffee, water, beer, wine, or anything else. Front desk said supplies were sparse. Front desk staffed only at certain times, otherwise no one on staff available. A really sad effort by RCR! Although its close to the slopes, lifts and the small slope-side village, the claim of โski in, ski outโ is misleading. Yes, one can ski right up to the โlodgeโ at the end of the day (if snow is ample), BUT, its a 200+ meter, uphill hike to get to any lift. In addition, there is very little in the way of dining opportunities, shopping or supplies in the slope side village. In sum, if you are on a meager budget, looking for the cheapest slope-side place to stay, and are used to living in run down, poorly serviced, dormitory-frat house like conditions, then maybe this will be acceptable. But if you have the money and prefer a decent place, go elsewhere!! The Lizard Creek Lodge would be recommended.
