We were in a king room which was one of the most spacious I have ever been in. Very comfortable and well appointed. Clean without heavy perfumes. One street back from the beach. Would highly recommend. However, the king rooms were at the top of a steep staircase and I couldn't remember being told that in advance. Could have been a problem if we couldn't do the stairs.

We drove out to Phillip Island for see the penguins and chose the Ramada to overnight instead of driving back to Melbourne. When we drove through the entrance and down the road to the office we were surprised how large the resort was. The staff at checkin were very friendly and helpful. The same applied at checkout. We had a three bedroom unit and it reminded us of a mobile home in the US. Inside was a full size kitchen, living room and two bathrooms. Overall the condition was average but served its purpose for our one night. If we had more time then the resort offered a lot of activities such as walking trails, hot spring pool, tennis courts, gyms, BBQ area and more. A restaurant was also onsite and located next to the office.

GGuest UserPerfect location, but the place is a little old and getting tired and run down. Also there is no onsite BBQ for families to gather round, even though they have a big grass area which is not used for anything. It needs modernising desperately. Pillows were like concrete and the beds stiff. And with everyone smoking outside their rooms all night and early morning, you are going to smell of smoke all day. On a positive note. The staff were great, doing a good job with a 70’s era accomodation, and at the time we visited. One of the big buildings and reception had burned down. I wish we was told to us before we booked

GGuest UserOur first time to do self check in, the instructions given were clear and easy to follow. We arrived late and didn't see a single staff during our stay. Yet, the staff replying our queries through emails were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The room is spacious and clean, not fancy but comfortable. Hot water was running a bit slow for the last person to take a shower. Otherwise, it was perfect. The location is great, within walking distance to the restaurants and shops, or a 2 min. drive. There is a children's park outside the hotel and the kids enjoyed it very much. The beach view is also spectacular.

GGuest UserWe decided to visit the San Remo Hotel for dinner, The menu was diverse. I had braised ox cheek, with mashed potato and broccoli. The ox cheek was very tasty and very large. It has an Asian flavoring, in particular star anise. It was, to my mind, a little sweet but that was more than offset by my pint of lager, which was pleasantly bitter. My dining partner had a seniors meal. fish and chips, which was so large that I helped her finish her serve. It was a very substantial meal, and very enjoyable. The dining room was busy and the San Remo Hotel was one of the few eateries open on Monday evening.

GGuest UserWe stayed for 3 nights in July to visit the penguin parade. Overall it was fairly good value, but it really is a motel. On check in I was advised the restaurant and bar isn’t open at all today….on a Sunday, in school holidays! This was very disappointing. The location is great - the beach is just down the end of the road, and the main streets of town about 5 mins drive away. There’s a small kids playground on site - better suited for younger kids I’d say 3 and under, and another bigger one at the end of the street overlooking the beach….for all ages. Their website advertises a jumping pillow, which my kids were excited about - but it’s been dismantled - so heads up to any who also see that on the website…it’s no longer operating. We went for a walk to the beach - though never found it! We walked about 5 mins to the end of the property and came to a door that led to a promenade, that was not even beach front - but we couldn’t get back through it if we walked out (luckily I checked as would have been stranded a long walk around otherwise!!). The best part about the “resort” was the hot spa. It’s 35-38 degrees….and absolute heaven. It’s also under cover, so we had no idea it was raining when we were in there! BUT - something they didn’t tell me on check in, nor is it in the guest information folder - you have to request they turn it on so it’s hot when you want it. We were lucky in day 1 and 2, but on our last day it wasn’t hot when we went in. It took about an hour to heat up, not too bad - but very important information they do not make known. We all had a shower in the evening and our bathroom literally flooded. I had to use multiple towels to mop up the water and make it safe, so my small children didn’t slip over. I couldn’t call for more towels or assistance as reception had closed. This was a problem every day, there was clearly a drainage issue in our unit - I called the Manager in on the last day and he took videos and acknowledged there was a problem. They were great to offer plenty of towels, and brought some protein balls as treats for the kids. We had a 2 bedroom motel room, which was a good size with a kitchenette. Though another flaw is that there’s no instructions for how to use the convection cooktop. They provide a guest folder with instructions for WiFi and AC and lots of other info - but nothing on the cooktop (or the spa bookings!). I tried for 10 mins, reception was closed, but then googled it and got it working. It was a real frustration at that time of the evening after a long day.

PPortillaClean and spacious room right in the heart of food and shopping area. I like it that the room is equipped with a microwave oven, fridge, kettle and stove with pots, pans, crockery and utensils for cooking. Parking lot is just outside the unit that allows for ease of loading and unloading luggage. We had a comfortable stay. If checking in late (6pm and after) do call them so that they can leave the keys behind for you. There is heater in case it gets too cold.

GGuest UserJust wanted to leave a review to assist others. The price considering it is semi shared accomodation with the kitchenette being in a common area and the walls being really thin (could hear everything from people in next suite on our level) was probably the only negative we had. Overall though, I found the place to be quite beautiful. Trees surround the property, the owner Harley was incredibly welcoming and friendly when we met. It was a cosy place to spend a few nights (we were attending a wedding up there). We even requested an iron and an ironing board with an iron was delivered right to our room in no time at all! They even offered to take our luggage up to the room. Balcony was so beautiful. I did enjoy our stay here, and it is so close to restaurants and bars. Perfect location. Thank you Harley and team for providing a wonderful stay for us both. Matt & Holz

GGuest UserVery basic motel- not good enough even for that. I usually don't mind a basic motel, that is if everything works and it is comfortable. The heating didn't work properly and we struggled to keep the chill off the air in the room. The two beds in the room had one blanket each -winter you would think there would be more. In the cupboard there was only one spare blanket for one bed. The outside lights were on all night and the window coverings were unable to keep out the light, especially the window above the door. There was nothing to wash the dishes with even though the sign in the room advised you'd have to wash your dishes (BTW I don't have an issue with washing my dishes). I only booked this motel because there was nothing else available. Definitely would not stay here again.
