I loved staying here it was an absolutely beautiful Apartment.
Very clean and tidy heaps of room and so close to everything.
I definitely will be staying here when I come into town for the weekend.
Thank you ❤️
Firstly you need to understand, this is an older Motel. If this Motel were anywhere else in Australia, it would be advertised as a 'boutique' Motel. My point is, older does not mean neglected. In fact, these folks have done very well maintaining the property and rooms that - though those 70's ring loud, its quaint! Clean! Tidy! And QUIET! Oh, so quiet! Noise is one of my bugbears when I travel and it was the lure of quite that sent me here - and Paravista delivered! NO traffic noise, NO noise from other rooms, NO noise from neighbouring properties, just quite. * Rooms are sort-of updated - Beds are new and comfy, bathroom is 70's looking, but clean and serviceable. * There is no cooking facilities in the room, but there is a communal kitchen. * However, the staff more than willing to give me a Microwave for the room to compliment the Tea and Coffee making facilities. * Aircon worked well and the balcony was a nice touch. * I didn't use the pool, but it looked great! We stayed First Floor, Room 7. I lost my pic of our room, but the pics of the newer beds are standard. If I have to Motel in Darwin again, I will definitely stay here.

Yes the Capricornia Motel is a budget motel with long term guest. We finally arrived 3 am in the morning and the keys were as we were told they were be, the room itself was clean as a pin and tea, coffee and milk were ready for us. It was a nice looking room. They don't change sheets/towels everyday but if you want to have them all you have to do is ask. If you want anything all you have to do is ask. It has a communal kitchen, a large undercover entertainment/barbie area, a pool, everything is clean everyday, there is a laundry with ironing facilities. Yes it is a bit run down, and during this wet season maintenance and refit will be underway. It is dog friendly and found that all dogs were well behaved and on leashes. You don't have to walk far to public transport and for Senior Card holders, the buses no matter what day or time are free. You are a short walk from the beach, Art and History Museum, the Qantas Hanger, and the ******. What I loved the most and what made it an enjoyable time was everyone at the Capricornia were friendly, always recommending this place or that to eat, drink or to see. Many of the long term residents talk about the history of Darwin that you won't discover in any brochure or museum. They were wonderful, if you needed help they were there for you - thank you guys.
The location is very good, looking west to see the most beautiful sunset and sunset in Darwin, the facilities are complete, **, Italian, Chinese, swimming pool..., the front desk service is warm and thoughtful, the room is clean and tidy, facing the lagoon pool, the indoor area is big enough.
The disadvantage is that the door from the room into the bathroom is too thick, every time the in and out will automatically close, trouble and close the door momentarily loud.
When the checkout, I knew that the mineral water in the minibar was charged, but housekeeping and the waiter who checked the minibar entered the room and said it was free. As a result, four bottles were charged 24 Australian dollars when the checkout was done. I was too lazy to talk to the front desk about the theory. I felt that I was also seeing people. The nice guy takes the money.
It is best not to include breakfast in the reservation, because there are several fixed meals (see photo) with breakfast. The drink can be selected for black coffee and English black tea. Never pay attention to the cup that drinks water. Once the cup is not cleaned at all, there are other people eating the residue. Most of the restaurant waiters are Buddhist, busy but lost, the whole wheat bread, the white bread, promised to change after no later, I can think of my own bad luck and leave, this is the best hotel in Darwin. 4-5 thousand RMB per night, but compared with the same price hotels in China, the service is still much checked, and the hotel facilities are a little old.
First of all, it was very clean because it was renewed. Nevertheless, due to the local characteristics of Darwin, I saw insects in the room on the first day, but when I told the office, I cleaned them and put them in the room.
Locationally, there was a mindil sunset market within walking distance and cbd was not too far away.
Although I inquired about the check-out rate due to the flight, I was disappointed about the part that cost $30 an hour, but other than that, it was generally a satisfactory visit.
First impressions were a bit disappointing as the overall look was a bit old and tatty but that's really a little harsh as the place is very spacious and well equipped but the appliances are showing signs of age and general damage, hence the tatty feel. It felt clean overall..... although the top of the cooker hood hadn't been cleaned in a while and there was a bottle of water under the bed which wasn't ours! That's being really picky though. There was no one at reception when we arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday and we hadn't received our arrival email as it was sent while we were in flight. Consequently we had to use the emergency phone there and someone talked us through opening the key safe and all was well. The smoke alarm had been removed leaving just the base plate on the ceiling. I am guessing possibly because it's outside the bathroom and the shower steam had been setting it off. It wasn't a worry to us as the building is only 2 floors and we had steps right outside our door, but I suspect this would be in breach of rules and regulations for rentals. It was nice to have a shower that was easy to operate! It wasn't full during our stay but it was very quiet to sleep and we generally didn't hear any noise from neighbouring rooms. It's only a small property with a central pool area which again wasn't noisy. The other thing we felt on arrival was that it was too far out of town. I think being Sunday it felt quieter but in reality it's just a 5 minute walk to Woolworths and proved to be a great location. We really enjoyed our stay and were sorry to leave.
My stay here was marred by the unnecessarily long check in process involving paperwork that could have been done electronically during the booking process - and my ongoing annoyance at being charged an additional $100 security bond at check in. All in the middle of the night, for a prepaid booking. Was assured the $100 would be refunded the next day, but 5 days later it hasn't been. Phoned the reception to enquire and was told by a rude receptionist that it was my banks problem and that they are entitled to charge this fee ”in case I damaged the room”. I haven't ever been charged more than a $1 holding fee before, so am not impressed with this ”management policy”, particularly given the room was prepaid. The actual room was clean and comfortable, a light breakfast is included which is good value. Parking is an additional charge - it would be very difficult to park here with a large 4WD, the spaces are tiny. I'm really disappointed that the management processes seem to be all about not trusting guests and making staying there a complex process...it's actually a nice hotel that is thoughtfully set up for short stay travellers, but I left with a bad feeling and feel sorry for the night reception staff who have to enforce ”policy”. Everywhere these days there are signs up about abuse not being tolerated...being combative towards paying customers isn't helpful.
