The hotel is located 20 meters from where the ferry leaves you from Townsville, so it is not necessary to have the car on the island, although if you bring it to the door of the hotel there is free parking for up to 3 days. The hotel is composed of several blocks, some with simple rooms, others with more or less large apartments. It has a giant pool. The access to the room is by stairs, there is the option of using an elevator, but it can catch you away and not avoid all the stairs, as in our case. Reception staff and lovely bar / restaurant employees.
Nomads Magnetic Island is fantastic! It offers a true island vibe with cozy sleep huts and plenty of outdoor space to relax. The bus stop right in front makes it easy to explore the island. The showers are warm and spacious. This is definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed in!

Dont stay at this place, the owners operators are so rude .Disgusting customer service by email and reception. We phoned them direct to ask about a room we had previously stayed in by the old owners.I said do I book on line and can we book with you ? I asked what price and they quoted me a price. On arrival the rude bloke said who gave you this price in a loud and abusive manner. We went to the room.Road works right outside so was really noisy all day. When the workers finnished at 4.30pm they all met a couple of room away from us outside.Swearing. We had to go back inside. Forget the Arcadia Pub we waited 65 minutes fo a take away.People were walking out and demanding their money back. Next morning in our room, put kettle on and made some toast. The power went off. Phoned the owners who yelled at me and said he was not on site. We left.
I loved this place despite some downsides.
It’s in the best area of the island, at walking distance from a stunning beach (Horseshoe bay). I booked it because I’m a digital nomad and Selinas are normally great because they offer a coworking space. The only issue is that I work European hours and I often finish at 9:00pm (as most of digital nomads I guess) but the kitchen closes at 09:00 and all the restaurants in the island close at 09:00pm too. The result is that during the week you cannot eat 😅 that’s not optimal. On top of that Wi-Fi stopped working for one whole evening and the following morning and I was stressing out because I had to send some urgent emails that could not be sent. For the record - there is not even phone signal so you cannot use data as a backup, you really need to rely on the Wi-Fi.
Another flaw is that it’s too far away from everything, the only supermarket is 1hr walk (the bus runs only a few times a day) and they don’t even offer a scooter hire service (I had to get the bus and go to the other l’art of the island - it would be great if they organised something for guests).
Nevertheless if you’re staying for the weekend it’s totally worth it. The staff is really nice, the restaurant offers good food and the place is just like paradise, it’s in the middle of the koala park. You are immersed by nature and it’s stunning. The dorms have very comfy beds and some have their own bathroom which is great. I am writing what to improve just because this place could be even better and has some room for improvement. But I highly recommend anyone to go (and I am already doing so)
Start with positives, clean rooms (inside) location right on the beach, wifi works well, communication about our deluxe room not being suitable for booking with pet The negatives paid for a premium ocean room upfront for 4 nights and was assured on phone would be swapped out for a similar standard as had a small dog, what we got was a room straight out of the 80s, a family room with 3 beds no less. When we queried it, was told this is our best option as other rooms were literally just a bed, and much smaller. Ok, we thought not ideal and felt a bit ripped off, but our choice was to travel with our dog so ok work with it. Then the real crap started, our room was right next door to a kitchen of a busy restaurant, the restaurant used external ( I hope temporary ) refrigeration that was you guessed it parked outside our room. On one side of our door old boxes and other restaurant clutter, the other a compressor going off attached to a refrigerated trailer (one of 2). Then the poor staff had to walk past the room window over 80 times (we counted one night) each time 2 doors creaking and slamming to get provisions, this would go on until approx 11:30pm every night. The real fun was renovations in the same restaurant starting with drills at 7am, but it was okay as the mattresses (remember we had 3 beds for us both) kept us awake anyhow, as they were as old as the 80s decor and went some way to keeping a 30-year-old marriage in form, as we rolled towards each others embrace at every opportunity in the pit that I think was the middle. We left a day early tempted to give the room away but figured why share the misery? I wouldn't normally write a review as having worked in tourism and owned tourism businesses, I know it can sometimes be a bit hard to get things right, but having had a chat 3 times felt compelled as they simply couldn't give a shiiiite, offered no partial refund nor even a 10% dinner discount. Citing you used *********** smile bs more smiles, more bs can't do anything *BS did I mention work in tourism Up ya game, I won't even mention how the pool looked compared to marketing photos, makes me laugh too much, if I was so sleep deprived I would bother to upload photos.

lovely views and a contemporary aesthetic. lots of parking spaces. I enjoy that it's not crowded. The food was good. The Asian staff was polite and made an effort to provide a customer-focused attitude. The majority of the workers are backpackers, so they are not particularly formal—they don't smile or greet others, they just stand and talk—and the place doesn't look like a five-star hotel. There was still hair on the floor and the room was a little dusty . Nothing special, simply an overnight stay.
Initially sent to the wrong room but the desk staff sorted it. The views are great of either the ocean or marina. We had an ocean view , also overlooked the pool. The place is actually quiet considering its also a ****** and popular restaurants. The staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed 3 nights and can recommend this hotel for a couple or family stay. It's close to the strand and easy walking to lots of cafes , restaurants and the beach side walk.
