We had a magnificent time at The Commodore recently. We had a wonderful, spacious room; as well as a very attentive bartender who helped us enjoy and choose a few pre-drink gins from their enormous selection. Dinner was fantastic, be both had amazing steak and sides, and beautiful wine. Breakfast the next morning was also lovely. I would stay here again next time I'm in the Mount, no questions.
After coming to Melbourne from Melbourne to visit the Great Ocean Road, most people choose to return to Melbourne. We choose to drive all the way to Mount Gambier. There are blue lakes and cave gardens in Gambier. Because there are few tourists in the spring, the hotel stays. Not much. Every room in the hotel has its own parking space, don't worry, the room is relatively large, and the face of the road will not be very noisy. From the town center and the Blue Lake, the cave hotel is about 5-10 minutes drive, eat and There are a lot of gas stations in the town center, and it is convenient to choose this hotel by car.
We recently stayed at the Presidential Motel and will never stay there again or recommend anyone stay there again. We checked in on Thursday, 24th February 2022 to a lady who was very rude. She advised me as I was booking in that they would be charging me a $200.00 pre-authorisation damages fee that would cover any damages to the room. I asked her why this was the case and she advised that it was standard through booking.com and booking.com charged this on all booking.com bookings. I advised her that I used booking.com on all my bookings and have never been charged a damages fee. She was quite rude and ended up charging me $150.00 after admitting that it was the hotels preference to charge customers a damages fee not booking.com. I want to the room with friends to put my luggage away. 2 cleaners were cleaning the room beside my room. They asked me if I was booking into the room that they were cleaning and advised them that I was booking into Room 48. 1 of the cleaners advised that she would do a check of the room to see if it was ready to be booked. She unlocked the room and went inside to do a check. She advised me that the fridge had to be stocked. I asked her if I could take some blankets as it was cold and she said yes. She showed me the cupboards where the blankets were and I removed 2 blankets from the cupboard that was encased in white bags. These bags were carried out to the boot of my car. The door closed behind me and I thought I had left the swipe card in the room. I asked the cleaner could she unlock the room for me, which she did. The cleaner then went back to the room next door to finish her cleaning. (Approval of using the blankets were witnessed by 4 people that were with me). On Friday, 25th February 2022 I received a missed call from 08 8724 9966 at 12:24 pm. I returned this call and was greeted by a man advising that he was the manager of the Presidential Motel and had been advised by his cleaner that the blankets had not been returned to the room. I advised him that the blankets were still in the car as I grabbed them because my kids were cold. He asked where I was and I told him that I was at the speedway. He spat the dummy stating that they could not be at the speedway and had to be returned to the motel so they wouldn’t get dirty. I told him that they wouldn’t get dirty because we were parked in the pits and the blankets were kept in the car for the kids to use. He said that they would get grease etc on them because we were at the speedway. I again advised him that this wouldn’t be the case because they were in the car. Our kids were racing go karts, which doesn’t have grease etc like the cars would. I told him that I would return the blankets to the room and told him I had to go. I then hung up the phone. On Friday, 25th February 2022 when we returned to the room it was late and I forgot to remove the blankets from the boot (that had still not been used and were still in the white bags). We we

Good location but few other positive things to say about this place. Bed was horrible. Don't think there was a single spring in the mattress & thought it would swallow me whole. Pillows were like massive bricks. Horrible smell that constantly permeated the room. Shower was the absolute worst! Terrible water pressure & would go from scalding hot to freezing cold over & over for no particular reason. Bathroom fan did not work & the toilet would refill with a trickle. Would literally take over half an hour to fill. TV had terrible reception. There was a fridge & Wi-Fi. No hairdryer. I do not recommend this motel.
This venue was a great place to stop on our trip from Hobart to Adelaide. The recently renovated rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious whilst being well appointed. It was everything we needed. The management and staff were friendly and helpful, even to the point of helping us when we realised that we had a flat battery and making us a cup of tea whilst we waited for the RACT.
The hotel rooms are clean and well equipped.
The hotel restaurant food is delicious, dinner should be reserved early, the opportunity to miss the opportunity because there is no reservation that night, the restaurant is full. Breakfast is not bad. In addition, there are many restaurants, supermarkets, close to Blue Lake and other attractions near the hotel, it is worth recommending.
The hotel environment is small and fresh, the room is very large, and the sanitation is very good. Because the staff at the front desk in the evening need to press the Ling to get out, I feel that there are not many people staying in the hotel. It is very convenient to have a supermarket and a gas station. Driving from the Ganbell Blue Lake is ten. minute.
The entrance and exterior to this venue was uninspiring. However, the Superior Queen Room was superb! It was in excellent condition, clean and well equipped. The kitchenette had a sink and all washing up gear was provided. There was a good stock of tea and coffee. The complimentary biscuits were a nice touch. The shower was great. There were lounge chairs as well as a counter area with bar stools for dining. There were shelves for 2 suitcases. The free Wifi connection was good. Paper and plastic recycling was encouraged. There was a covered BBQ and outdoor eating area. Parking was easy to access. Although situated on a busy road, we heard no traffic noise. A superior room, for sure!
Lovely big, well located, caravan park with nice gardens and great kids facilities with indoor pool and playground. We stayed in three bedroom cabin which was clean (for the most part- some dishes from previous tenants were returned to the cupboard dirty) and spacious. Will note that heated pool was rather lukewarm and was hard to stay in for long as an adult- kids had no issue though! Staff, while a little brusk on check in, responded quickly and efficiently to a couple of issues we had. On a whole a great stay though a little on the $$$ side.
This a private place with 4 suites. No one is on site so you need to time your arrival with them. We got off on the wrong foot as we arrived earlier and there was a time change on our drive that we were unaware of. They were lovely and patient and we loved our suite which was huge, with a sitting room and bathroom with a tub and lovely amenities. This is not really a boutique hotel as advertised but more like an house - there was a big kitchen, a laundry room and a pool table upstairs. The breakfast hamper was wonderful! Delivered when we asked for it and included all kinds of amazing goodies. Wish we could have stayed another night but we were just passing through.

MMossCharmWhat an amazing place to stay. We stayed in the Policeman's Residence and found it to be a great balance of modern while keeping historical aspects of the place. The view to the old cells just outside our kitchen window was a great addition. The place is spacious and very clean. The beds are so comfortable (I need to track down those mattresses for myself!) and the hosts Emma and Grant are extremely friendly. A very special place and we can't wait to get back down there to try the Post Office Apartment. Highly recommended :)
The Barn Hotel and Steak 🥩 house is around 10 Minutes out of Mount Gambier town, we arrived there from Port Fairy and had booked a 1 bed room / suite. We choose to stay here on our Road trip for 1 night, and also eat at the barn steak restaurant, as apparently the food is to die for. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who explained where our room was and how to get to it, a couple of minutes drive away to a row of converted barns. The terraced apartment was very spacious, clean and fresh, it had all we needed for a short stay, very comfortable bed, ample room, a medium size fridge. Free parking was right outside. The bathroom comprised of both bath and walk in rain shower with ample toiletries. Outside was a small garden area with seating. Back in the main building there was a small comfortable bar area which lead on to the restaurant. The menu is dominated with various steak 🥩 dish’s, we choose to avoid starters as looking at the plates of the other dinners we certainly wouldn’t have done justice to the main meal. This came up excellently presented, the steak 🥩 I had was probably the best I had ever eaten. It’s not cheap, nor is it too expensive either compared to the food dished up in the UK. If I lived within 50 miles of this place it would most definitely be a restaurant I would frequent at least once a month.
GGuest UserMy wife and I recently stayed at the Colhurst House, a beautiful and charming accommodation conveniently situated near Mount Gambier's city center. The location proved to be ideal, within walking distance of various shops and restaurants. The room itself was pleasant and well-maintained, complete with the added perk of a tea and Nespresso coffee machine. While my overall experience was positive, I regretfully cannot award the hotel a perfect 5-star rating due to some issues encountered during the check-in process. After a long and tiring drive, the anticipation of a seamless check-in was dashed when we arrived and found no one at the reception desk. It turned out that the hotel had tried to contact me earlier, but since I had an international number, they were unable to reach me over the phone. A simple email or phone call (or whatapp number) with check in instructions would have alleviated this situation. Unfortunately, the situation escalated when my email to the hotel went unanswered for more than 30 minutes. Frustrated, I had no choice but to make an expensive international call, which eventually resolved the matter. Thankfully, a kind staff member promptly arrived to assist with the check-in process after the call. Another minor inconvenience was the absence of details regarding the Wi-Fi password in the room. A straightforward sign with this information would have resolved the issue without any hassle. Once again, I resorted to sending an email for the password but, disappointingly, received no response. This forced me to make another call, urgently requesting a reply to my email.
GGuest UserPerfect Country Escape, only minutes away from the conveniences of My Gambier but it feels like it is worlds away, wake to the calls of the birdlife, a short stroll along the road and you’ll see all of Ol’ McDonalds Farm Animals. A perfect home base for exploring the Limestone Coast, or to simply unplug from the world while watching the fire burn with a cuppa
Loved spending the night in a place with history. Lots of information about the goal located around the site. The room as expected was small- it was a goal cell after all. The bed was comfortable- a double so giants beware. Any larger would not fit the room :) The heater warmed the room nicely. The kitchen area was clean and had what we needed. Lots of styles of cells to choose from. Having courtyards the goal would suit a group of friends or family get together. I understand you can hire the full complex. Good walking distance to the city pubs. Parking out the front. Some rooms have shared facilities. Remember, you are booking an experience. I your after luxury then this is not the place for you.
GGuest UserWhat a remarkable find in a town with a high number of motels to choose from! From the outset the deciding factor to stay here was simple: the heated indoor pool - 5 stars for this alone after some 2 weeks on the road. The added bonus was a finding this gem in Mt Gambier - easy booking system, lovely welcoming staff member, a very comfortable 2 bedroom unit, the most comfortable beds we had slept in, a noise-free night and within a few minutes walk, a great Australian pub - “The South Eastern” offering fantastic food. A fantastic experience all at a modest price!!!
The hotel was clean and presentable upon arrival. The gentleman that served us at the bookings window was warm and friendly. The shower facilities were amazing and the bed was super comfy. We went to the bistro here at the hotel for dinner and the service I could not fault. Angie was lovely, cheerful and extra apologetic when picking up our plates. Unfortunately the food was below standard. I ordered a medium rare T-bone steak that came out well done and there was no salad dressing on my salad. My mother had the roast Beef. It was so tough and chewy it looked as though it has been boiled and then roasted. The roast was also paired with 2 baby potatoes one half of a carrot and a mountain of frozen beans and corn. I work for the company and at a pub in Adelaide and I'm very disappointed with the food only.
GGuest UserWe arrived at this cabin park without a booking. The staff member checking us in was extremely helpful in finding the best available cabin for our circumstances. The cabins in this park are being progressively upgraded / renovated. Although the cabin we stayed in was unrenovated, it was very clean, spacious and comfortable, with all of the facilities we required (gas oven and cooktop, microwave, toaster, kettle, all cutlery, crockery and glassware). There was also cabin park laundry with new quality washing machines and dryers. Very reasonably priced. Would recommend.
GGuest UserMy wife and I stayed here for just one night to take advantage of some free Vline train vouchers, so, as our host told us,, we were not typical of most travellers arriving at the motel by car. We chose this place because the price was reasonable, previous reviews were good and the location was not far from the Vline coach terminal next to the Visitor Information Centre.
Our Queen room was basic but clean, comfortable and well air-conditioned. There were good supplies of cutlery, crockery and snacks, together with a microwave and a toaster. Whilst not serving meals at the motel, our host told us of a cafe nearby. He was charming to chat to and kindly looked after our baggage for us in the free hours between checkout and our coach departure. All up, a very pleasant experience.
