We loved our cottage. We understand that a major fire destroyed the main lodge, so that has probably set the place back a bit, but the cottages are clean, tidy & cosy. The heating is great & there's everything we needed for basic cooking. Curley the Currawong bird is a bonus, as he brought berries to our door in exchange for the odd biscuit!
Overall very satisfied! The hotel is located by the bay, divided into two buildings, the main building and the sun room. The second floor of the conservatory we stayed in. The room was cleaned and the area was generous. There's just no place for more luggage! Pay attention to closing the window at night, otherwise there will be all kinds of unidentified flying insects staying with you!
The hotel has also recruited two Chinese staff, which is more convenient for communication.
Hotel meals, average evaluation, it is recommended to strengthen in the future! The nearby restaurants all need to drive out. We just drove to the small town by the bay for 15 minutes. A nice restaurant with sea views and a good meal of Tas oysters.
We stayed in the Roland Cottage which far exceeded our expectations for only $180 a night in peak season. It’s a little further away from Cradle than most of the main hotels, but in a way we liked this better as it was quiet and peaceful - there aren’t many cottages and they are set right against beautiful bushland, making you feel like you’re in the forest. The cottage has a well-appointed kitchen with all the cookware you could possibly need, plus a microwave, kettle, fridge, stove and dishwasher. Coffee, tea and sugar were also provided. Best part of all though was a huge spa bath with bubble bath provided, lovely after a long day of hiking! We only wish we could have stayed longer.

This property had broken glass on our pateo and in the paddocks. Our toddler cut its finger on the broken lounge room window. It was not safe for the kids, the old gym was dangerous and like a junkyard. The basketball court was covered in slime. The horse was lame and needed some serious hoof filing, it could not even stand on one leg. The lights inside were so dim we could barely see. The sofas were covered in decades worth of grime. The dining chairs were broken and unsafe. We were not provided with a cloth for washing up, only a scourer. All the knives were completely blunt. We left our three night stay early and felt better for it. Other than this accommodation - we had a wonderful stay in Tasmania.
The room was pleasant & clean, the heater worked ok, & the bed was very comfortable. One drawback is that the door to the room was a lightweight door so anyone talking in the passage was loud enough to sound as if they were in the room. The view from the room was relaxing, but alas I didn't see any wildlife, that's nature for you. Unfortunately half the rooms were without hot water on the first morning, so it was a cold shower. The evening meal was ok, but not the greatest. Being on a tour we were lucky enough to have a cheese & wine tasting afternoon, which was fun. There are some paths through the grounds at the back. It was pleasant walk, where I did actually see some wildlife, lots of skinks. They run off pretty quickly.
The location is excellent. Just take 3 mins drive from cradle mountain. The house is clean, warm and spacious.
There is small grocery snide office and you can buy some meat and veggies if you don’t want to have dinner outside.
The favorite experience of the entire trip to Australia! First, diagonally opposite the visitor center, you can walk to the park by foot. Each building is an independent cabin, very clean and tidy, with solid wood furniture and flooring, and modern kitchen TV DVDs. You can experience your own fire and warmth, and there is an electric heater in the room. The best thing is that there are small kangaroos that don't promote feeding, but they can be observed at close range and close to nature. It is recommended to eat more with wine and stay in the hut for a few more days. I regret not taking some potatoes and sweet potatoes. I can throw them directly in the stove. Will go again!
Location: Great location in Cradle Mountain! Near Shadian there are already several starting points for simple hiking trails! Routes ranging from twenty minutes to a few hours! Pleasant scenery! Rainfall track is recommended! We met wombat and wallaby on the route!
Cleanliness: Not bad (based on the mountain location, don't expect five-star standards!)!
Room: I can’t see the room type on the Trip website! There is a gap between reality and expectations! Especially the spa suite we rented... inside is just a large bathtub with 6 water holes (not a triangular spa)!
Food: Breakfast recommended! Not many varieties but high quality! Tarven fast food has no surprises!
Finally ⋯ I think I will book this hotel again! Apart from the above weak points, our family still likes this hotel very much, even though the price is 3,000 yuan a night!
