Sydney Boutique Hotel was the perfect place to stay for us during our 3-days visit in Sydney. The Hotel was really quite, our room had a big balcony, a kingsize bed and was comfortable. The hotel is located just a 5 min walk from the train station. We explored a lot of things (like the Australia Museum, the Sydney Eye and the shopping street) by walking, the location was super. And the staff was really friendly and helpful. They even postet my postcards for me.

The good - the location is pretty central and the bed was very comfortable. The ride to/from the airport was about 20 minutes and about 50 dollars Aus. We could book the room for one night on the New Years' weekend and it was < $200 US. The rest - Overall, the Kirketon could use an update. The hotel facility was retrofitted into the building and while this can produce a fun and funky (in a good way) experience, the Kirketon is more funky (in not a good way). The lobby and room furnishings are tired and weird (not in a ”hip” way). The windows are FILTHY. I think the room and bathroom were clean but the lighting is not great. There is no lift so be prepared to carry you and all your stuff up the stairs. Our room was strangely laid out so that there was about 1 foot between the bed and wall and we had to lift our suitcases over the bed to get them to the other side where we could put them down. We also basically had to walk sideways to move through that opening. The bathroom was a long, thin (~12 foot x 2 foot - think bowling lane) ”room” with a small sink at the top of the corridor and toilet at the end with the shower jutting back into the main room on the side.

It feels okay. You can indeed cook and so on, but the environment is really average. The transportation location is very good and I can basically walk to where I want to go. Hahahahahaha

I stayed at the hotel for 2.5 weeks during one of the busiest times in Sydney. The rooms were cleaned daily. The staff exceptional. The manager on duty incredible. I had a few hiccups as any traveller would at any hotel but once mentioned by me to the staff they without hesitation went beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. It isn’t the most glamorous or biggest or even the most sophisticated place but it was perfect for a solo guy like me travelling in Australia for Mardi Gras and site seeing. Other friends of mine ran into numerous problems beyond my challenges at other big chain hotels but this little place kept me going and made me very happy. I’d return anytime. It’s location is perfect for site seeing and a overnight sleep or daytime nap. Thanks to all the staff there that were amazing. See ya again soon I hope!

What travellers say about Darlinghurst attractions

Australian Museum

穿穿白衬衣的薄荷星If you don't want to go to the crowded Bondi Beach to watch dumplings when you come to Sydney, I strongly recommend this super beautiful cliff bay! Located on the edge of the cliff, facing the vast Pacific Ocean, it is a bit thrilling, but the view is super wide and the scenery is super beautiful! The water here is super blue and super clear! It looks good without adding filters, and there is also a very iconic small door. However, if you take pictures here, you must pay attention to safety. It is not recommended to walk too close to the side for taking pictures. After all, there is a cliff behind you, which is still very dangerous. Be careful! I heard that people often fall down! 📍 Attraction name: Diamond Bay Reserve 📍 Attraction address: Craig Ave, Vaucluse NSW 2030, Australia

Anzac Memorial

Yyangduoduo17While wandering around Hyde Park, we stumbled upon the Australian New Zealand War Memorial. From a distance, we found the building interesting and approached to see what it was. As we walked up the steps through the reflection pool in front, a friendly person appeared to greet us, asked if this was our first visit and offered to introduce us some information about the place. Others were nice and I guess he was a volunteer, maybe a veteran. He told us about the history of the place, both old and new, and who was responsible for each area. He explained the different areas of the memorial, and the beautiful statues decorated in the center of the building. We didn't have time to feel it because we were going to meet friends from overseas nearby. So we will come back here in the future, spend some quiet time and feel everything.

Taylor Square

SStarde198The history of this square is interesting, the name of this square is a former prisoner's name, he was released into a businessman, and then bought a lot of places, including this square.

National Art School

门子乀The predecessor of the National Art School is darlinghurst gaol, which turned out to be a prison. Construction was made during 1836-1840. In 1921, it was changed to the East Sydney Technical College and in 1995 to the National Art School. Very distinctive and worth seeing.

Green Park

精灵背包游侠I came across a holiday market on the streets of Sydney near the park. It sells clothes, accessories, personal handicrafts, small works of art, and other small commodities. It also has the food streets that are common in China. I like the relaxed and leisurely atmosphere! I am hungry! This grilled sausage is also 32 yuan! It is already relatively cheap! My God! Many brands of drinking water are more expensive than milk!

Sydney Jewish Museum

Yyangduoduo17I visited in January 2020 and chose to join Vlad (travel guide) for the 11am tour; the tour was only intended to last an hour, but after2.5 hours, I was still listening to Vlad speak about the tragic tail of the Jews...there is no word to describe the time spent in the museum. The museum is well furnished and the staff is the most amazing person you have ever had - I would recommend visiting this museum.

Captain Cook

Yyangduoduo17As a statue, it did do well, shining in the sun but prominent in the blue sky. I added my own photo as it looked as if it had been cleaned recently and looked better.

Australian Centre for Photography

MM32***23I think Sydney has a modern city feeling, Melbourne has a cultural atmosphere, in a way similar to China, the feeling of the street, I think the best thing is the gold coast, if there are people who like to play large mobile games, it is a good place to go, Here anyway, you can go shopping, go food, you can also go to the farm to see the shearing of the wool. Anyway, you will know it. It is fun and worth going.
