”Reception - it was an interesting experience that when I booked for a certain dates, I received an email confirmation for a different dates. I sorted it out with a call. Hence, my first impression was either the reception was over worked or .... Anyway, when we arrived last Friday 21/4/23, we given room A11 (budget cabin). Was pleasantly surprised that the registration was smooth and efficient when we arrived. Room - was clean & bed was comfy. Location - easy walking distance to town and strategically placed as 10 mins to Wandiligong for Nut festival, 10 mins to Mountain Fresh Trout & Salmon, Harrietville, 40 mins to Mt Beauty and so on. Camp facilities -swimming pools, jumping castle for kids. Camp kitchen was spotless clean. On the weekend nights there were many different ethnic groups of campers using the BBQ area and camp kitchen cooktop which was not cleaned by some campers after use and the next morning, saw the staff/manager cleaning the dirty stained BBQ area to be spotless clean for the day use. Activities - there were free open movies night with FREE popcorns (yum, yum) & free pancakes for breakfast. Friendly and courteous staff /managers and definitely my family would stay here again”

I really enjoyed my 2 night stay in a Standard Garden Room. You can't see the motel rooms from the street front as they are down a side path behind the owners residence. This means they are lovely and quiet. The rooms face a beautiful garden area. The rooms are older but they are super clean and have everything you need. My room had a nice sofa to sit on, a large new Smart TV (I was able to stream my own Prime Video Account on the TV), a fairly new efficient split system heater/cooling, plenty of bench space, and a big walk in shower. The young couple that own it are very friendly. I would absolutely stay here again.
Well it’s cheap for a reason. If all you want is a place to sleep for a couple of nights as you’re at the snow or doing some cycling then this place is ok. But that’s it. Not sure how this place got great reviews. Firstly the room is ok. We had a twin room. Bed was ok although too hard for my husband. Pillows were reasonable. Shower was nice and hot. A microwave is provided. There is a kettle (yes there are cups) and a toaster but no plates or cutlery. The split system is about 20 years old and the modern tv advertised is not a smart tv. The channels are all over the place. Channel 7 is something odd like channel 62. There is no guide to tell you which channel is which so you just have to go up and down one channel at a time, hoping to find a channel that works. Strangely there are no duvets/doonas on the beds. Just a blanket and sheet. It’s winter and about 0c outside. There should be doonas! There are spare blankets in the cupboard. Luckily we had electric blankets on our bed. But our friends in another room didn’t get electric blankets and were freezing overnight. We brought an extra heater which saved us. Yes you can leave the split system on but the airflow just made the dusty blankets dustier. I actually came home ill due to the dust. The bathroom is clean with a hot shower but no exhaust fan and we couldn’t open the window. Yes there is a back lawn which is probably great for kids in summer. But the pool doesn’t look amazing. Looks like a large bath tub with dodgy water. Maybe it has a different look and feel over summer but didn’t look inviting at all during winter. The room was clean but the next day we left the sign out to tidy our room and the cleaner asked us “ do you really need your room cleaned?” I don’t think she could be bothered so we told her to just clean the bathroom. Surprisingly, we were allowed to bring our bikes into the room which was great. We did turn them upside down so not to get the carpet dirty although I am sure many don’t bother doing that. I don’t think the owner was interested in making more money. Our friends wanted to stay an extra night but were told they were full. Not true. Most people left on the public holiday and most apartments were empty. Car park was empty. There were plenty of rooms but our friends got turned away. Wifi is average and there is a humming noise from outside during the night. We think it was the pool pump. Town is about a 10 minute walk away. Overall, it’s cheap and basic. We will try to get a warmer and less dustier place next time. Only stay here if you’re desperate.
The pros: great location in the centre of town with walking distance to nearly everything you'd need for a great weekend, microwave, fridge, ample storage, confy bed and couch. The cons: I was in Room 9. There was an overpowering smell of damp on opening the door, the exhaust fan in the bathroom was useless for removing the steam created by the shower, and insufficient space to hang towels. The biggest issue was the tiling on the floor of the shower and the black mould. The shower had a central square drain hole with the tiles having been cut on an angle to look nice. Much of the grout had crumbled away exposing sharp edges of the tiles. These tiles were unstable and actually moved when touched. It was unsafe to stand on and what if you cut your foot on a sharp cut edge of a tile with all that black mould? I called the manager in to inspect the shower - he said the shower was perfectly clean as he'd cleaned it and while the tiles were moving there was no breakage. He also could not smell the damp and said there was no mould. He had previously told me this was a refurbished room! It needs to be redone! I noticed also the hand basin gurgled badly as it drained. I could not access the wifi in my room, only outside my room or in the car park. There was no servicng of the room due to the current Covid situation so guests had to go to Reception for fresh towels and replenishing of tea and coffee etc between the hours of 2 and 6pm. This is when the majority of people are out sightseeing - alternative hours should be available.

We had the pleasure of staying at Adina Lodge for 2 nights. Rooms were very well presented, clean and well appointed. Staff are very friendly and always working to keep the place clean for our enjoyment. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would gladly recommend anyone looking to stay here when visiting Bright. Location is just an easy 20 minute walk into town along tge Ovens River and offers some lovely walks direct from the Lodge.

Excellent
This was our first ever visit to beautiful Bright. We were shocked to soon discover that this park are just nothing more than rip off merchants. Everything apart from the very basics that are supplied in the cabins you have to pay for, from the $20 per night for any extra bed used, apart from the main bed, to the extra charges for a fresh towel, or if you use up your tea or coffee you can't just ask for some more, you have to buy extra from their stocks, and pay 8% surcharge when paying by card. One of our friends ( we were part of a group booking) was even charged the extra $20 p.n for a member of our group who couldn't get there until the Saturday, but still had to pay for him, excuse given was that he might ”sneak in when the office is closed” !!???. And as an accommodation cleaner myself I quickly discovered all the places that the cleaning staff are NOT cleaning, from the dirty shower base ( needs some real cleaning/bleaching), to the dusty shelves and skirting boards. We will be coming back to Bright, but NOT to this place.
We recently stayed at Discovery Bright for five days on a fabulous, huge caravan site right on the riverbank (Site 9a) The electricity box was a quite a way from our caravan but there are extra leads available, water but there is no sullage on the site or concrete annex pad. But..being right on the riverbank was ”the best”. Bring your own fire pit. There is no tv reception unless you have a satellite dish but it didn't bother us in the least and there is a cosy tv lounge near the office if you feel you need to tube in. The amenities are fabulous. Showers with glass shower screens to the dressing area, and a heater above. This is a beautiful location between Bright and Harrietville. Quiet and peaceful with only the noise of the river flowing by.
We stayed during autumn on a 4WD trip with a group of about 30. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating for the large group. Great wine, good food, lots of parking. Rooms were large and well appointed. Great pillows and sheets! Loved all of the hooks over the heater for toasty towels and jackets for those cold mornings.
GGuest UserWhat an amazing pub in one of the prettiest towns in Australia. Do yourself a favour and get to Harrietville, any time of year it's stunning. The hotel has budget accom and was biker friendly but could cater to any groups. Great food, drinks and service with a smile, even when it was super busy. Really well run pub with a sensational atmosphere. Room we stayed in was simple but inexpensive, so no complaints. 10/10
