Guys, where do i start?! Please do Not spend your hard earned, very valuable money here! Readers, please know that I am generally a very easy going person, but this was just extremely upsetting. First off, the advertising for the bed and breakfast should absolutely be changed. I am not sure when the pictures were taken, but they are in no way revealing the true condition of the house. Many of the bedrooms, all in the second annex house, have window units. I truly don’t mind the window units, except the patch work around them is done very poorly and we were frequently killing bugs in our room that had gotten in through the many cracks. The last night, my niece woke up to a bug biting her on her arm. There are no longer nice curtains and drapes over the windows, but mismatched sheets that are nailed into the wall around the windows. Two of the showers in the main house have such bad water pressure they were unable to be used. One of the families had to be convinced to stay with us after the first night. There are many places where layers of paint are chipping and many of the rugs look like they haven’t been replaced or shampooed in the last 20 years. The dining room in the second house is boarded up with what appears to be a collapsed ceiling from observing outside. (Even though a dining area was advertised in the pictures.) It appears as if no one is cleaning under any of the furniture. It is dusty underneath the couches and tables, and I have discovered water bottles, sponges and other trash from what I can only assume is previous renters. It is just dirty. I have stayed in run down cabins at camp sites, and this is what staying here reminded me of. 75% of the light bulbs are missing or out. This is just the physical problems we have had with the houses. I understand the complications with an old home, and I expected some, such as poor water pressure, but the standard cleanliness and maintenance is just terrible at the current time. 3 of our bathrooms didn’t even have toilet paper, and 2 more had almost empty rolls on arrival. It is so unfortunate, because the houses are beautiful, and it has so much potential to be an amazing venue for so many things, if it was maintained properly. I can enumerate about 20 more issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but I have given a few examples to make the point. The physical aspects of the house were frustrating for me, but even more so for about half of the group I was with. However, I think the bigger issue, is the situation with the inn keeper. He kept to himself and got the towels and toilet paper we asked for. Other than that, we never saw him. He cooked well, but that’s about all i can say. Which is fine with us, but just to let everyone know, there is no real hospitality. I was not even given any actual history or tour of the house with the exception of the original owners name and the fact is was part of the Underground Railroad. That’s it. The biggest problem we have is the living situation. T
