The hospitality was wonderful! The home and my room felt very homey and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. What made the experience best was the fascinating conversation with the host about the history of the house, a safe house on the underground railroad. Our host knew a great deal about the history, and I actually left 1 1/2 hours later than planned because the discussion was fantastic. I would recommend this b and b, even though it's a little outside the downtown area.

We stayed in Iris' Room, which is on the top (third) floor of the additional house. It did not look quite like the photo on the site, but it was large and clean and the air conditioner kept it nice and cool as well. It would have been a shared bathroom room, but there was no one in the other room up there, so we basically had that entire floor to ourselves. Breakfast each morning was prepared homemade and was excellent. This was certainly not the kind of plush bed & breakfast experience that you might choose for a honeymoon or anniversary trip or something like that, but it suited our needs for a mom and daughter trip just fine. We even got to hear about the history of the property and how the main house used to be part of the Underground Railroad, which was fascinating. I would stay here again if in the area.

I love the authenticity, the way that this home has been preserved. The customer service is excellent. The breakfast was delicious. Sure, there are areas of the house that need a bit of repair (I.e., the outside). However, for me, it adds to the ambiance. I love how the rooms are quiet. You cannot hear guests in other rooms. You cannot hear the outside traffic. It’s a very wonderful experience because the innkeeper is kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Also, the per night cost is very reasonable. I suggest you try it keeping in mind that it is about the historical experience more so than the luxury. I highly recommend that you try it. You will love it also. I plan to visit the others in other states.

First of all the web site is misleading and confusing. It does not describe the rooms adequately. We booked Beatrice’s Room because it was listed as having a private bath. But when we arrived we learned Beatrice’s Room is on the 2nd floor and it’s private bath is on the 3rd floor. Both staircases are narrow, long and steep. We were offered Barbara’s Room in the house next door and chose to take that instead as its private bath was en suite. However, the bathroom room floor had been wiped with something incredibly slippery. Fortunately we were given a large stack of towels so we covered the floor with them. The toilet flushed but did not fill without removing the over and jiggling things inside. The toilet seat size and the toilet bowl size did not match. There was no toilet paper holder. The vent above the toilet was extremely dirty. The chair in the bedroom looked so old and dirty we covered it with a blanket we found in the cupboard. The bottom of the shower curtain was pink tinged with mold and there was black mold in the corners of the shower. The mount for the shower amenities remained but there were no bottles. We were given small bottles of shampoo, conditioner etc. The hair dryer mount was empty so no hair dryer was provided. Additionally, the house is on a very busy street. Our room faced that street so there was constant traffic noise. Breakfast was mediocre at best: orange juice, scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuits. The hash browns and biscuits did not appear to be made from scratch but rather from grocery store products. The silverware was of a dollar store quality. It was served buffet style. I could continue on but suffice it to say I would not stay here again and I would not recommend this B&B. I’m giving it 2 stars though because the bed was very comfortable and clean. Also the bath towels were of a luxurious quality. And the manager was friendly and apologized both on our arrival and departure for us not getting to stay in the main house.

Guys, where do i start?! Please do Not spend your hard earned, very valuable money here! Readers, please know that I am generally a very easy going person, but this was just extremely upsetting. First off, the advertising for the bed and breakfast should absolutely be changed. I am not sure when the pictures were taken, but they are in no way revealing the true condition of the house. Many of the bedrooms, all in the second annex house, have window units. I truly don’t mind the window units, except the patch work around them is done very poorly and we were frequently killing bugs in our room that had gotten in through the many cracks. The last night, my niece woke up to a bug biting her on her arm. There are no longer nice curtains and drapes over the windows, but mismatched sheets that are nailed into the wall around the windows. Two of the showers in the main house have such bad water pressure they were unable to be used. One of the families had to be convinced to stay with us after the first night. There are many places where layers of paint are chipping and many of the rugs look like they haven’t been replaced or shampooed in the last 20 years. The dining room in the second house is boarded up with what appears to be a collapsed ceiling from observing outside. (Even though a dining area was advertised in the pictures.) It appears as if no one is cleaning under any of the furniture. It is dusty underneath the couches and tables, and I have discovered water bottles, sponges and other trash from what I can only assume is previous renters. It is just dirty. I have stayed in run down cabins at camp sites, and this is what staying here reminded me of. 75% of the light bulbs are missing or out. This is just the physical problems we have had with the houses. I understand the complications with an old home, and I expected some, such as poor water pressure, but the standard cleanliness and maintenance is just terrible at the current time. 3 of our bathrooms didn’t even have toilet paper, and 2 more had almost empty rolls on arrival. It is so unfortunate, because the houses are beautiful, and it has so much potential to be an amazing venue for so many things, if it was maintained properly. I can enumerate about 20 more issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but I have given a few examples to make the point. The physical aspects of the house were frustrating for me, but even more so for about half of the group I was with. However, I think the bigger issue, is the situation with the inn keeper. He kept to himself and got the towels and toilet paper we asked for. Other than that, we never saw him. He cooked well, but that’s about all i can say. Which is fine with us, but just to let everyone know, there is no real hospitality. I was not even given any actual history or tour of the house with the exception of the original owners name and the fact is was part of the Underground Railroad. That’s it. The biggest problem we have is the living situation. T

We were blown away by the hospitality and kindness we received at Six Acres. Our host was a wealth of information about the local area and had so many tips to enjoy Cincinnati. It seems the building is aging as one would expect of a house of this age. I hope more folks find this hidden gem and keep it shining!
