Aged housing with lack of hygiene and maintenance, reception at reception without necessary information, lack of supplies, it was not a good experience

The price/performance ratio is very high. It includes three meals a day and a buffet. In a place where supplies are scarce, every meal includes mutton and beef. It’s really great. Drinks are also free. It’s really great. The hotel is right on the beach.

Worst experience so far , when we booked the rooms , we asked about early check in and were told that we could check in when we arrived Arrived at the hotel and still waiting .We are told that there is no early check in . So standing waiting in the lobby , waiting . Also there is a drunk person stumbling around , bumped into people ( he can’t even walk straight . And the security isn’t doing anything about him , they are just watching him bump into people . Bellboys are to busy visiting with each other to carry out bags !!! So we asked for a refund so that we could say somewheres else. And no it’s not my first time travelling to Cuba . But this is the first time that I ignored other people reviews .

This hotel get worse every time i go. No Rum, no Eggs, etc etc.....(Still) This is now considered a Cuban hotel as many Cuban Companies come here with staff for R&R. The days of being a GREAT CANADIAN DESTINATION are over. The Cubans fight for food at the Buffet, bud in line, take 2 plates full, and then leave half of it uneaten on the table. totally ridiculous that the hotel doesn't allow the staff to serve people and limit the servings. Management told me that its not worth the fights and aggressive Cubans they will deal with when they try and limit servings. (i guess they tried that already) It's not like they can't go back for more, but they insist on piling their plates 8" high, and leaving nothing for anyone else. Adding insult to injury, they don't even finish when they take. We as Canadians will pay $50 USD per night if paying at the front desk with a Canadian Credit card. Cubans Pay $20 USD of their credit Cards. This is why the place is falling apart, Go figure. on my last night there, there was a huge line to get some meat from the grill, but because they take sooo much, the wait is long as they need to keep cooking more.... I basically ate cucumbers, Rice and bread. thats it.

It's very quiet at night...love that....definitely get vip room...either balcony or walk out to the grass from room...other basic rooms aren't that great imo.... food basic, drinks basic, public beach a short walk is awesome...but guard your valuables or just leave in room....bus ride into cienfuegos is fun, lots of little shops craft vendors etc

My wife and I just spent a week at Rancho. It exceeded our expectations in every way. We are well aware of the challenges Cuba is currently facing and of course this affects hotels and resorts particularly in the less known, less popular areas such as Cienfuegos. The vast majority of the arrivals on the plane were headed to Trinidad. The grounds and beach are beautiful, the staff helpful and friendly. Given the hardships and shortages the food was satisfactory and as varied as possible. Eggs were not offered and some guests bought their own in town or from local farmers and had the dining room cook them for a tip. Surprisingly rum was in short supply although always available for purchase in the hotel shop. Beer, wine and even whiskey were on hand. Taxis are available for trips to town and area attractions. The weather was perfect and the ocean warm. It’s a quiet, peaceful resort surrounded by countryside with many of the guests returnees of multiple visits. Cienfuegos itself is well worth a visit and is unlike other Cuban cities in its history and architecture. There were power outages at the resort and in town but most places catering to visitors ran generators. We would certainly return. The biggest negative was Sunwing, surprise surprise. No rep, no information, nobody knows when pickup is for return flight. Way too long a wait at the airport, plane is late. Poor communication. Same old with them.

As they write, if you lower your expectations to a minimum, then the hotel is not bad. Long-term black dirt in all corners, a constant stench from the sewer in the rooms, air conditioners that produce only noise, sausage eaten and overcooked many times instead of food, noise, screams and loud national music everywhere - you don't die from all this. The list can go on, but I really don't want to. Have a nice holiday somewhere else.

In my opinion, Rancho luna is the best resort in Cuba for cost. In the past 15 months, I've stayed at Tuxpan, Arenas Blancas, Solymar and Starfish Jibacoa. Unlike, in Varadero, Rancho Luna is a 1200 peso cab ride to a beautiful clean city centre with a vibrant live music scene (Club Cienfuegos Weekends)(Bar Pina Colada any nite). Yes they never had eggs the whole time I was there but maybe to offset it, there was always tons of ham(well a kind of baloney), cheese and bread( all you could eat) which was different then my other hotel experiences where bread was always in short supply. I would bring some syrup because instead of eggs the guy on the grill is making pancakes every day hes also ready to fry your eggs if you bring them easy fix since town is so close. Also, eggs don't need a fridge. Speaking of fridge the room doesn't come with one but you just have to ask then they put it in. The coffee is served in a big soup cauldron and you ladle it yourself into a cup. There's always a pasta bar at lunch and dinner and at every meal there was either roast beef, pork or chicken ample quantity. Unfortunately, I didn't see ice cream ever. You enter the hotel and on your right is reception. to your left is a hallway that leads to the buffet, main restaurant. to the right of that hallway is the lobby bar which serves espresso coffees but not beer. around that bar to the right is the stage for shows every night, there's a group of four girls who sing popular songs very well done, along the right of that area are a bunch comfortable arm chairs ideal for people watching, in fact there are more than sufficient couches and tables and chairs throughout the resort I always found a table and chair at pool bar, tons of recliners around pool and beach, you wont need to fight for a seat ever. To the right of the stage is a ramp or stairs down to the pool area the pool is very clean cleanest i've seen in Cuba. There's a team scrubbing it ever morning. To the left of the pool is the pool bar it has awesome shade and tables and chairs it serves rum and beer and a lunch or late night snack of ham/baloney sandwiches, plantain chips and croquets. (they never ever ran out of beer) on the right side of the pool is a little bar where the guy is making mojitos. past the pool is the path to the beach. the path passes through the row of rooms and once you pass the rooms look to your left and what looks like two rooms is actually the gym there is a tread mill weights not bad. half way from there to the beach is a little bar that serves rum and beer(never ran out) for the people on the beach. Just past it on the left is an a la carte restaurant popular for fish at lunch i never ate there. But it is also where the beach bathrooms are very clean and spacious like the lobby bathrooms. the beach has no surf the corral reef stops waves nice relaxing, there canoes, paddle boards and catamaran are always available and ready to go. My rooms shower was always hot even in the mornin
