Avaton Folegandros

One of the best holidays I have had in a long time (and I have just moved from the beach in Australia!) Luxury accommodation and stunning pool area. It was very quiet and relaxing. We were the only ones by the pool most of the time. It is about 1km to walk to Chora where there are so many fantastic restaurants. Mainly Greek holidaymakers in the town with a few US & Australian tourists. So you can imagine it’s very authentic. We walked the 2km, each way, to the nearest “beach” on many days. It’s a bit of a technical track so you need trainers on. Once you are they you will likely have it to yourself. Crystal clear water. There is another walk which is a bit further which gets you to a couple of other beaches which have restaurants. The beaches aren’t sandy. Pebbles. So it’s all great if you are fit and like a good walk. Otherwise stay by the pool and chill. The staff could not do enough for us. Next level customer service. We flew to Santorini and caught the ferry but I think I would have preferred to get the ferry from Athens to avoid the masses on Santorini. I would go back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful hotel in June 2025. From the moment we were collected from the port by the hotel we knew that this was going to be a lovely stay. We stayed in a downstairs Diamond Suite with large terrace and the room size was very spacious, in fact perfect. Catorina and Artemis looked after us so very well and were always on hand to offer any help we needed. The pool area is absolutely beautiful with an amazing view to look out onto and peaceful. Breakfast is served by the pool with pastries, boiled egg, ham, bread, yogurt, fruit and delicious coffee. If I have anything to add it would have been good to have more selection of food especially hot items, eg eggs ,bacon, pancakes etc. Can only recommend highly this hotel, it is away from the hustle and bustle of town with just a 10 minute walk to. We travel the Greek Islands every year and this hotel is certainly worth a stay.

We were a bit worried our stay wouldn’t be able to match the hotel in Akrotiri. How wrong we were. When we saw our room, the only words to describe it was wow! In fact, this is one way I would describe the whole hotel. Another would be a quiet retreat where Bali, Thailand and Greece meet. The whole set up is for complete relaxation, the way the rooms and pool areas are set up. This is a boutique hotel and has enough luxury sun beds for everyone. The views from the pool and lounge areas are fantastic and every room has a sea view. As mentioned in previous reviews, there is an extension to the hotel partially built but there is no work taking place when guests are here. It did not impact on our stay one bit and we decided it wasn’t building work but a piece of modern art! Our room was spotless and with all mod cons with a very modern design. It is quite a space with a free standing bath. The shower is very powerful with a large bathroom space. The bed was so comfortable, there was no interruption to our sleep. Katrina and Artemis were fantastic and look after us amazingly. Nothing was too much trouble. They respected your space and were not overbearing one bit. They left you to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the place. It is only 10-15 minutes into town either on the track or on the road but recommend head torches.We will definitely stay here again, without any doubt. The hotel is bordering on near perfection.

A perfect stay on Folegandros Likely one of the most wonderful stays we have ever experienced in the Greek islands. The premises are immaculately maintained, rooms beautifully set up and the views are hypnotizing. The lovely ladies who hosted us were always attentive. Breakfast around the pool area was plentiful and tasty. The main township is a short walk along a dedicated path. The island is peaceful and perfect for relaxing or hiking, and is home to some authentic family rum restaurants. There is plenty to explore, but always nice to come back to this beautifully appointed hotel for afternoon drinks and sunset views of the famous church on the southern peak. Do yourself a favor and stay here before it becomes too popular!!

This was our 2nd visit to beautiful Folegandros and we hope to return a 3rd time and stay at this hotel. Sadly our 1st visit, we did not stay at this hotel, we stayed at another one and that place was terrible. You can read my review. I will not post the name of the first place on here for risk of slander. The staff at the first hotel were so bad we left thinking maybe it was the islands attitude towards tourists. My husband and I enjoyed the island so much and were apprehensive to stay here again. Well, we were glad we took the risk! This hotel is magnificent AND the staff are so warm, helpful, and kind. This location is wonderful, easy to walk into Chora and has a breathtaking view of the Aegean. The staff are helpful with anything you need to picked up/dropped off for ferry, made calls on our behalf for ATV’s, and provided a tranquil stay. This was our 7th trip to Greece, 2nd time to Folegandros. We hope to make an 8th trip and 3rd to Folegandros and hope to stay at this beautiful and peaceful hotel!
