Qingcheng Mountain Suxi Qingshan Forest Homestay

This hotel was outstanding; peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature which provided the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind after the hustle and bustle of Chinese cities. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal, with overcast skies at the start of the rainy season, the location was still beautiful. The autumn leaves were just beginning to change colour, and there were excellent views from the room, many lookouts and vantage points. The elevated walkway through the forest canopy was a particular highlight. The staff also went out of their way to be helpful, organising a visit to the nearby Dujiangyan Giant Panda Centre and the local equestrian centre for a horse ride, all at no extra cost for transport. They even washed my clothes onsite at no additional charge. Apart from needing a proper coffee machine for us Westerners, this was a truly exceptional stay in an exceptional location with exceptional service provided by a very helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place, as depicted in the photos. Service and food were great. Bed was super comfortable, shower was hot and strong, toiletries were of superb quality. We went with our elderly parents and they loved being in nature and having such fresh air everyday. It feels like a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Note that there is no nearby shop as the hotel is halfway up the hill and the hotel restaurant is not open throughout the day. This was not an issue for us as we were able to order food delivery with the guidance of the hotel staff. Also, this is much nearer to 街子古镇 and is quite a distance to the main 青城山 area. We loved 街子古镇 though as it is much less touristy than the main 青城山 area and spent an entire day exploring the town. What could be improved: - During our first day there were issues with wifi and the room heater. Although the staff responded to our requests for help immediately, it took a few hours to fix the wifi, while the heater was only fixed the next day. Service was very pleasant though and I appreciate their sincere updates as I understand some things are beyond control. I do wish they could have checked the heater beforehand. - There was no tour of the grounds when we arrived, nor an introduction to the free activities available as part of our stay, so we had to explore the place ourselves and ask for activities such as: calligraphy, horse riding, free car ride to the Qingchengshan train station. All in all, despite a few hiccups, it was a very comfortable and restful stay. Thank you to the team for taking good care of us!

Where to start! If you are looking for a few nights away from the bustle of Chinese cities and you want to relax and unwind in nature then Suxi Qingshan Forest Homestay is perfect! The hotel is easily accessible from Chengdu. A short 25 minutes train ride from Chengdu to Qingchengshan station and then the hotel staff will arrange to pick you up. As soon as you arrive you will realise what an absolute gem this hotel is! The hotel is nestled amongst the hills with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. This is a luxury hotel with the services and infrastructure to match. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea upon arrival and you also have the possibility to enjoy a hot water jacuzzi, a fitness area, walks around the hotel forest grounds as well as many other experiences proposed by the hotel. The hotel is only 15 mins drive from Dujiangyan Giant Panda Centre and the hotel staff organised transport there and back for us. We would recommend this Panda reserve as it is much quieter than the reserves in Chengdu! We had dinner at the hotel restaurant on both nights of our stay and the food was truly exceptional! We chose the set menu, which took us on a culinary journey through Sichuan. Each plate was refined, delicious and made using fresh ingredients. The breakfast was equally delicious, fresh and healthy. We would like to highlight the kindness and warmth of all the hotel staff. They were always available to answer any questions and organise activities to make our stay magical. The hotel staff were able to communicate with us in both English and French. We stayed at Suxi Homestay looking for a relaxing few days away from cities and we were blown away by the experience! We would have loved to have extended our stay!
