The Mountain Top Inn & Resort

I recently stayed at the Mountain Top Resort in Vermont and while the property clearly aspires to offer an upscale experience, several basic amenities and design choices fell short of expectations—especially considering the premium rates. To start, the absence of a coffee maker in the room was surprising. Most hotels today offer either in-room coffee or a communal coffee and tea station, but neither was available here. For a resort aiming at luxury, this felt like a miss. My corner room on the first floor lacked a thermostat, which meant I had to manually adjust the temperature by opening windows—an awkward task given that a couch blocked access to them. The closet had no door, which might have been quirky if not for the refrigerator inside it. The fridge emitted a bright blue temperature light that lit up the room like a laser when the lights were off, making sleep difficult. To make matters worse, the closet had a motion-activated light that turned on when I walked by at night, nearly blinding me. Space was another issue. The bathroom had no counter space for a toiletry bag, and the dresser top was completely dominated by the TV, leaving nowhere to place personal items. These design choices made the room feel cramped and impractical. I was here for a business meeting, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this resort for business travelers. It’s not set up for work-related stays and lacks the functionality and comfort needed for a productive visit. While some of these issues might seem humorous in hindsight, they made my stay uncomfortable. For the price point, I expected much better.

It is disheartening to have to write this review. My fiancé and I visited the MTR in anticipation of potentially getting married there. We reside out of state and took time off work to stay overnight, which was generously offered as a complimentary accommodation in our wedding brochure. Our room was exceptional and we thought would set the tone for the remainder of our stay. The grounds were breathtaking, and we were eagerly anticipating our tour with Khele the following day. That evening, we dined at the resort tavern. I informed our waitress of my severe mushroom allergy, and she diligently noted it down. However, our main course, the steak, was brought to us by a young man running the food service, not our waitress. I cut a piece of steak and dipped it into the steak sauce provided on the plate. Our waitress, who was engaged in conversation with another table, whom she seemed to be very friendly with, approached us and informed me that she had instructed the runner to disclose that the steak sauce contained mushroom powder. Given the severity of my allergy, why would the restaurant even serve an item containing it? I explained my situation to her, and she informed me that she had Benadryl available in the back. I then elaborated on the severity of my allergy. Despite the inconvenience caused, the restaurant comped us dessert, and my fiancé and I were willing to overlook the issue due to our fondness for the grounds. However, allergies must be taken with utmost seriousness. Our tour commenced at 9:00 AM, and it concluded at 9:40 AM. Khele greeted us at the front desk, and we proceeded to start on our tour. Khele led us to what appeared to be his personal vehicle, an Audi. This was no problem. However, upon entering his SUV, Khele informed us that due to muddy conditions near the ceremony site and his desire to not dirty his car, he would not be showing us the ceremony site. This revelation took us and my fiancé by complete surprise, as seeing the potential ceremony site is an integral aspect of the wedding ceremony. Upon initially being throw off, thinking maybe he was just joking, we proceeded with the tour. Our tour itinerary included a visit to the exquisite private residences on the property. Coincidentally, another party was also touring the property at the same time and was shown the ceremony site. While we comprehend his concern for the cleanliness of his personal vehicle, there were ample resort vehicles available for our use. This became evident when the other party arrived in a resort vehicle at a house that Khele was showing us. We concluded our tour and returned to his office. Notably, Khele refrained from allowing us to fully observe the ceremony site. Khele inquired about our origins (for privacy reasons, we refrained from disclosing the exact location) and responded that he would not hold it against us. Assuming it was another joke, we proceeded. Upon entering his office, Khele abruptly slid the booklet across the table,

We stayed in cloud 9 and loved it. Perfect for our small family. The food at the resort was great. The pontoon boat ride was nice. We enjoyed going to Killington for a day. O my wish the outdoor pool was heated!!

We had an absolutely amazing stay! We spent 3 nights at Rambling Brook, attended welcome drinks at the Beach Pavilion, attended a wedding at the wedding knoll and an indoor reception. The resort was beautiful, the staff was fantastic and Rambling Brook exceeded our expectations.  I would highly recommend the Mountain Top Resort. We loved every second of our trip.

We stayed in the Deer Run home connected to Mountain Top Resort and had an absolute blast! The resort itself had fantastic service, food and amenities. The Deer Run rental home itself was absolutely beyond our expectations! This rental is worth every penny! From waking up to incredible Mountain View’s (with local beavers in view) to a fun afternoon of billiards, to watching a movie in the awesome surround sound movie theater room….you just can’t beat it. Oh, did I forget to mention the hot tub and sauna?? The owners are top notch and have put a lot of thought and care into this home!

Very clean. Room was top notch. Views were spectacular. Had to ask for house keeping each day. However they did a great job. Woukd definately stay again and again
