The Mountain Top Inn & Resort

It is disheartening to have to write this review. My fiancé and I visited the MTR in anticipation of potentially getting married there. We reside out of state and took time off work to stay overnight, which was generously offered as a complimentary accommodation in our wedding brochure. Our room was exceptional and we thought would set the tone for the remainder of our stay. The grounds were breathtaking, and we were eagerly anticipating our tour with Khele the following day. That evening, we dined at the resort tavern. I informed our waitress of my severe mushroom allergy, and she diligently noted it down. However, our main course, the steak, was brought to us by a young man running the food service, not our waitress. I cut a piece of steak and dipped it into the steak sauce provided on the plate. Our waitress, who was engaged in conversation with another table, whom she seemed to be very friendly with, approached us and informed me that she had instructed the runner to disclose that the steak sauce contained mushroom powder. Given the severity of my allergy, why would the restaurant even serve an item containing it? I explained my situation to her, and she informed me that she had Benadryl available in the back. I then elaborated on the severity of my allergy. Despite the inconvenience caused, the restaurant comped us dessert, and my fiancé and I were willing to overlook the issue due to our fondness for the grounds. However, allergies must be taken with utmost seriousness. Our tour commenced at 9:00 AM, and it concluded at 9:40 AM. Khele greeted us at the front desk, and we proceeded to start on our tour. Khele led us to what appeared to be his personal vehicle, an Audi. This was no problem. However, upon entering his SUV, Khele informed us that due to muddy conditions near the ceremony site and his desire to not dirty his car, he would not be showing us the ceremony site. This revelation took us and my fiancé by complete surprise, as seeing the potential ceremony site is an integral aspect of the wedding ceremony. Upon initially being throw off, thinking maybe he was just joking, we proceeded with the tour. Our tour itinerary included a visit to the exquisite private residences on the property. Coincidentally, another party was also touring the property at the same time and was shown the ceremony site. While we comprehend his concern for the cleanliness of his personal vehicle, there were ample resort vehicles available for our use. This became evident when the other party arrived in a resort vehicle at a house that Khele was showing us. We concluded our tour and returned to his office. Notably, Khele refrained from allowing us to fully observe the ceremony site. Khele inquired about our origins (for privacy reasons, we refrained from disclosing the exact location) and responded that he would not hold it against us. Assuming it was another joke, we proceeded. Upon entering his office, Khele abruptly slid the booklet across the table,

Where do we begin? We stayed in the Cloud Nine house: a one bedroom with king bed, kitchenette, full bath with walk-in shower, and a living room with a fireplace. The views out the windows of the lawn, lodge, reservoir, and mountains cannot be described by words (check out the pictures but you have to experience it in person to truly appreciate it . Went for a pontoon ride one day and horseback riding another. Had breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the patio: again jaw dropping views. My wife and I like to try new places but we might break that rule to go back.

I visited with my daughter on August 19, 2024 for dinner. I have NEVER experienced such terrible service nor have I witnessed such rude treatment of other customers as I did at this resort. We sat at our table for 15 minutes and not one person approached us, yet there were servers standing around, yawning. Also there were only 5 other customers in the restaurant at the time. The gentleman next to us stopped a server and asked very politely when his food would be out (he had been waiting 35 minutes) and the server responded by saying" it will be out when it comes out" in a very nasty tone. Needless to say, we got up and left. We drove from Pennsylvania to visit Vermont and planned our day around this dinner. I would absolutely never recommend this establishment to anyone. You should be ashamed! BTW - I only gave one star because I had to.

The accommodations were fine. It's really the beauty of the location that "sells" here- and it is beautiful. The food was really good. However, indicating there is WIFI in all rooms is extremely misleading. It simply doesn't work even in the main lodge area. This seems unimportant. However it is not if you are with a group or if there is an emergency in any part of the group. The accommodations are spread throughout and the result was, in our group, we simply couldn't get in touch with each other. The standard resort answer was "it's not our fault; walk around and you may pick up a connection- even in main lodge where they did hook me into their highest caliber WIFI. However, I suggest there are solutions and that investment should be made. Alternatively, let people know in advance that there is no WIFI and visiting groups can develop fine workaround solutions (barring medical emergency).

The guest house and amenities were average we were there for a wedding and that was beautifully done overall a pleasant experience. My complaint was a safety issue as the smoke detector had been removed from the house and the light to the deck/entrance was burned out.it was extremely cold and slipping and falling in the dark was quite possible. I had reported it to the front desk on Friday when we arrived and was assured it would be taken care of. It was not as of Sunday when we left.

I do not recommend this place. I went up for the weekend for business as a facilitator of a retreat and experienced bed bug bites. Even with me sleeping in pants, I found bites on my legs, back, eyelid and face. I've NEVER experienced bed bugs before so let me tell you, it's uncomfortable and annoying! There's also no service in the cabin lodges. As a mother, it wasn't great to experience in the event of an emergency back home. There may have been other amenities besides the cabins on location but if so, I didn't see or experience them. I always try to leave honest, positive reviews but these bed bug bites are unacceptable and preventative.
